Chapter 26 Lost completely

Olivia quickly interjected, "Arthur didn't mean it that way. He thinks you shouldn't be doing this. Cassie, come back to Height Architectural Decoration Company. We've just negotiated a deal with a developer for over a thousand units, with profits in the millions of dollars. Help me, and we can make the company even bigger together."

Cassie was already feeling unwell from the heat, and now she was even more irritated. "Aren't you tired of this act every day? Can you stay away from me? I don't have the energy to play along."

"Enough!" Arthur couldn't take it anymore and yelled at her. "Olivia is trying to help you, but all you do is assume the worst about people. You've become unreasonable."

"Unreasonable?" Cassie was incredulous. "You're blind. You can't see what kind of woman she is."

"She just loves me too much. And you? All you do is criticize me and her," Arthur retorted.

"Fine. Both of you get lost." Cassie, losing all rationality, started throwing flyers at them.

"Lunatic." Arthur shielded Olivia with one hand and grabbed Cassie's hand with the other, pushing her hard.

Cassie fell to the ground, and the flyers scattered everywhere.

She looked up and saw Arthur already holding Olivia's hand, getting back into the car.

When Olivia turned back and gave her a smug smile, Cassie felt as if she had been completely stripped of her dignity and strength.

She never thought Arthur would protect Olivia so fiercely, even to the point of hurting her.

Before, she didn't think she had lost. But at this moment, she realized she had lost completely.

Joseph was driving back from the courthouse. While waiting at a red light, he saw flyers scattered on the ground and Cassie bending over to pick them up one by one.

He frowned slightly.

When the light turned green, he made a turn and parked by the roadside. He got out, walked over, and bent down to pick up a flyer, handing it to her.

"Go away," Cassie thought it was Arthur and choked out, "I don't want to see you."

Through her tear-filled eyes, she looked up and saw Joseph's refined face, and she froze. "Joseph."

Joseph raised an eyebrow. "Who upset you?"

He noticed her red eyes and tear stains, clear signs she had been crying. She was always so quirky, but this was the first time he had seen her cry.

Cassie bit her lip in frustration, thinking, 'It's your nephew, Arthur.'

But she couldn't say that, so she lowered her head and said, "Someone threw away all my flyers."

Joseph looked at the flyers in his hand, surprised that she was handing them out. From what he knew, she had been raised in luxury.

"You always say you graduated from Silverwood University, yet you took a job like this?" Joseph asked.

Cassie blushed with embarrassment. "I used to design for Silverwood Grand Theatre and the airport, and I even did project management. But I'm young, and no one believes in me. I can't reveal my identity either; people would think I have ulterior motives. So now, I either work as an assistant in a big company or as a designer in a small one."

She picked up the flyers as she spoke. "I don't want to be an assistant. I don't want my good design ideas to be taken and used by others. I want to work in a small company, get commissions, and earn profits from projects. After a year, I can save enough money to start my own company. The hardship now is just temporary."
