Chapter 1094 Looking Up To Laura
"Let's go. Tonight, I'll stay with you." Lucas patted him on the shoulder.
"No need. I want to be alone." Unexpectedly, Michael shook his head.
Lucas didn't stop him, as he knew Michael's feelings for Megan were deep. Michael couldn't figure it out quickly. However, as long as Megan didn't come back to bother Michael, he would eventually get over it.
After Michael left in a daze, Lucas called Joseph.
After listening, Joseph was silent for a moment and then said, "I'm just afraid that one day, when Michael returns to the Jude family and becomes successful, Megan will come back to bother him again."
Lucas was stunned. "Michael shouldn't be that foolish, right? After going through this, if he still can't see Megan's true nature, I don't know what to say."
Joseph said sincerely, "I hope he really sees it clearly. By the way, thanks for dealing with David this time."
"Although I said to all the major hospitals, this is only temporary. If David seeks help from the Chamberlain family, I'm sure he'll find a way to get through this," Lucas said, not daring to underestimate David.
"I see," Joseph replied.
On the other side, Michael didn't know where to go after he left the hotel.
He drove for a long time and eventually ended up at Megan's workplace.
He sat outside all night, and by ten in the morning, Megan was brought back by a car.
He saw Megan get out of the car, bend down, and kiss Jacob on the cheek, making Jacob laugh heartily.
Michael just stared, his eyes bloodshot.
It wasn't until Jacob's car drove away that he got out of his car, looking desperately at Megan. "Were you with him all night?"
"Of course." Megan adjusted her hair, clearly not wanting to deal with Michael. "Didn't you see us go up together yesterday?"
"Megan, why have you become like this?" Michael had thought about it all night and still couldn't accept the reality, "You weren't like this before."
"What was I like before? Gentle, kind, and generous?" Megan sneered. "If I didn't act like that, would you have liked me? I've always been like this. Honestly, if Joseph hadn't rejected me, I wouldn't have chosen you. Do you know, out of the three of you, you're the worst. But I have no choice, as Lucas treats me like a sister, and you're the easiest to fool."
Michael's legs trembled, and his heart ached as if he couldn't breathe. "It must have been hard for you to act all this time."
"Indeed, I don't want to act anymore. Michael, you're just a fool. You say you love me, but you still slept with Laura. You act all devoted to me, but you're a hypocrite." Megan mocked mercilessly.
Pain flashed in Michael's eyes.
He thought to himself, 'I slept with Laura because Nathan drugged me. I ignored my own child and lost my family for you, only to be humiliated by you. How come?'
"Megan, are power and money important to you? You already have ten billion dollars; many people work their whole lives, and they don't have that much money," Michael asked, bewildered.
"Is it a lot? Haven't you seen that Jacob has billions of dollars? And you, what do you have? You don't even have as much money as I do, and you want to marry me. You don't deserve it." Megan sneered and turned away.
Michael didn't chase after her. At that moment, he truly gave up.
His teenage crush had lasted for over a decade.
In the end, he found out he had fallen in love with such an unworthy woman.
His life felt like a joke.
In the following days, Michael didn't go anywhere and didn't have anything.
After three days, he went to the Jude family and knelt at their gate.
At nine in the evening, it started to pour rain.
In the living room, many people were sitting, but no one spoke.
"Dad." Caroline looked at Eric worriedly.
"Do you want me to take back what I said?" Eric glared at her.
"That's not what I meant." Caroline sighed. "After all, he's part of the Jude family. It was scorching hot during the day, and now it's raining. Lucas said he hasn't had anything for days; he might not hold up."
"If he can't hold up, then let him go," Eric said as he stood up and walked to the stairs, "We'll talk about it in the morning."
"Let's go." Everyone dispersed.
Caroline didn't sleep well that night. When she got up the next morning, Michael was still kneeling outside.
When Eric woke up, he had someone bring Michael in.
Michael had knelt for a day and a night, and after not having anything for days, his face was pale, and he staggered as he walked.
Michael forced himself to stand, and after entering, his eyes were red. "Grandpa, I'm sorry. I was wrong before. I didn't listen to you and loved the wrong person. I was blind."
Eric slowly took a bite of his breakfast and said, "We'll talk when Laura gets here."
Michael was stunned.
James nodded in agreement. "She's part of the Jude family now. We should wait for her. Derek has gone to get her."
After that, no one in the Jude family spoke.
They gathered at the table for breakfast, ignoring Michael.
Michael hadn't eaten for days. Initially, he had no appetite, but smelling the delicious breakfast made by the Jude family's chef, his stomach started to cramp, and he felt extremely hungry. His stomach even growled.
However, everyone acted as if they didn't hear it.
Forty minutes later, Derek and Laura walked in.
Derek wore black pants and a white shirt, while Laura wore a green dress with a white knitted shawl over her shoulders.
Michael felt a sense of shame.
Once, he was a proud member of the Jude family. He never thought he would reduce to such a situation.
Moreover, after getting soaked in the rain, he looked terrible.
Sure enough, when Laura glanced at him, her eyes were filled with disdain.
