Chapter 1618 This is My Boyfriend
Cassie looked up, gazing into Joseph's gentle eyes, her heart overflowing with sweetness.
Joseph looked down at Cassie's honeyed eyes and couldn't help but kiss her on the lips.
"I can't stand you two," Laura said, covering her eyes.
"Come on, you're not single anymore," Cassie teased.
Just then, a commotion came from the back of the yacht. Shortly after, Derek walked in, wearing a white shirt and black pants. Paired with his youthful and handsome face, he looked incredibly dashing.
For some reason, Laura found Derek especially handsome today. Although she had thought Lucas was very good-looking earlier, Derek had a maturity and steadiness that neither Joseph nor Lucas possessed, along with a youthful vibe.
Having a boyfriend like Derek was definitely something to be proud of.
"Sorry I'm late," Derek said with a slight smile, naturally walking over to Laura and holding her hand.
Everyone was a bit stunned, especially Lucas, who didn't know about Laura and Derek and was a bit surprised.
"Although you might already know, I still want to formally introduce him to you." Laura cleared her throat, a bit embarrassed as she held Derek's hand. "This is my boyfriend."
"Congratulations." Joseph graciously extended his hand for a handshake.
"Take good care of our Laura," Cassie said, winking.
"I will," Derek said, interlocking his fingers with Laura's and smiling happily.
Their relationship had always been low-key and secretive, but now Laura finally brought him to meet her friends.
"Didn't see that coming," Lucas said, raising his glass in surprise.
No wonder Laura was so indifferent to Michael's apology earlier.
Well, with someone better by her side, how would she still think about the bad things from the past?
Although Michael and he used to be close, Lucas had to admit that Derek was quite impressive. At such a young age, he was already the President's secretary, with limitless potential for the future.
Given the opportunity, Lucas didn't mind making friends with him.
In the afternoon, Joseph took the yacht out to sea.
When they reached a blue bay near an island, the yacht stopped.
The three men took their fishing rods to the deck to fish.
The sun shone on the sea, and the weather was slightly warm.
The three men changed out of their shirts and pants into T-shorts and capri pants, which didn't affect their handsomeness at all. In fact, their well-built bodies made them look like top male models.
The women sitting on the second floor, drinking red wine, looked down and found the scene particularly pleasing to the eye.
Especially Laura and Cassie.
Their eyes were filled with sweetness as they looked at their beloved partners.
Only Bernice remained indifferent, her mind still occupied with the morning's trial.
"Didn't expect Derek to have such a good body," Cassie said with a low laugh, swirling her wine glass. "I sneaked a peek when he was changing earlier. He has abs and no extra fat."
Laura was speechless.
"What, mad at me for peeking?" Cassie winked.
"I'm not that petty," Laura rolled her eyes. "But aren't you afraid Joseph will get mad if he finds out you peeked at Derek?"
"I told you, I peeked secretly. No one noticed. Of course, I have to carefully observe your boyfriend to see if he's reliable," Cassie said with a smile. "Come on, let's toast to Megan being sentenced to death."
Their wine glasses clinked in the air.
Laura asked, "When will the execution be?"
"I asked, it should be in two months," Bernice said, looking at the distant blue horizon. She didn't actually like the sea because her former body had drowned in it.
"That long?"
"Isn't that good? Death is a release, but the fear in these two months is terrifying. Imagine, she knows she's going to die soon but is still alive. Wouldn't she be trembling with fear every day, unable to sleep at night?" Cassie said with a playful smile.
Laura was stunned for a moment and then felt a sense of satisfaction.
At that moment, a commotion came from below.
The three looked down and saw that Derek had caught a fish.
Laura immediately ran downstairs excitedly. Derek was just taking a black fish off the hook.
"You're amazing, catching a fish so quickly," Laura said, looking at Derek with excitement.
With others around, Derek felt a bit embarrassed, his ears turning slightly red. "Just lucky."
Laura didn't care; after all, Derek was the first to catch a fish. "Does this fish have a lot of bones?"
"Not many."
"Then I want to eat it tonight."
"Okay, I'll cook it for you tonight," Derek said in a calm and gentle voice, filled with affection.
Lucas was quite calm, but Joseph, who was in the throes of a passionate romance, was jealous.
"Cassie, what kind of fish do you want to eat tonight?" he asked, looking at Cassie with a gentle tone.
Cassie glanced at him indifferently. "Don't act like you can catch whatever fish I want to eat."
Joseph was left speechless.
Only Lucas glanced at Bernice, who hadn't come down from the second floor, with a hint of mockery in his eyes.
She was his woman, yet she was so indifferent.
By five in the afternoon, the three men had caught a total of six fish.
Derek caught three, Joseph two, and Lucas only one.
As dinner time approached, Derek took the fish to the kitchen.
Joseph rolled up his sleeves and came in. "Let me help."
Although his cooking skills were terrible before, he had made significant progress over the past year to please Cassie.
Even though this progress was, in his opinion, quite significant.
But soon, seeing how Joseph was cleaning the fish, Derek couldn't help but frown. "Joseph, why don't you help me peel the garlic? I'll handle this."
Joseph silently stepped aside and started peeling garlic, watching Derek skillfully scale and gut the fish.
He was silent for a while, then quietly peeled the garlic.
When Cassie and Laura came in to check on their loved ones, this was the scene they saw.
Cassie knew Joseph's level of cooking, but Derek's performance surprised her.
She had heard from Laura that Michael was a good cook, but she didn't know Derek was so skilled in the kitchen.
Derek's knife skills were on par with hers.
