Chapter 53 Find a Job
"My company is also in this building. I just saw you come out. What are you doing here?" Billy parked the car and waved her over.
Cassie got in, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I came for an interview, but I didn't get the job."
"With your skills, you didn't get the job?" Billy was incredulous.
Cassie awkwardly smiled. "I had a falling out with my family and was framed for plagiarism. My reputation in Silverwood is pretty bad."
"You plagiarize? It's more like others plagiarize you," Billy laughed. "I just opened a branch in Silverwood, and my team is short-staffed. Come work for me."
Cassie was both shocked and touched. "Billy, don't you doubt me at all?"
Billy said regretfully, "I know your character and skills the best. I asked you to start a business with me after graduation, but you insisted on going back to your family company. You even said you were going to marry your boyfriend. Did you get married?"
Cassie lowered her head bitterly. "We broke up."
Billy was stunned and then said softly, "It's okay. You're still young and beautiful. You'll find someone better in the future."
"Enough about me. Billy, you're amazing. You're now one of the top three designers in Ravenwood City. I've even seen a few books you've published," Cassie teased. "And now you're planning to expand into Silverwood?"
"If you think I can do it, then join me. I need talents like you." Billy sincerely invited her. "I can offer you a high salary, and when we go public, you can become a shareholder."
"Alright, to celebrate you becoming my boss, I'll treat you to dinner tonight." Cassie didn't expect such a surprise.
She called Joseph, "I have plans tonight, so I won't be home for dinner. You'll have to take care of yourself."
Joseph had been in a foul mood lately because people had secretly laughed at him several times over the teeth marks on his face.
"What plans do you have now? I'm warning you, don't be stupid enough to need me to rescue you again. I don't have that much time," Joseph said.
Cassie was frustrated. She had been staying home every day recently, cooking and not going out at all. "I just had a meal with a friend from my study abroad days."
Joseph replied, "So, a college friend, huh? Last time, you were dragged to a hotel by a high school friend."
"Whatever," Cassie said, not wanting to get angry. She hung up.
Billy looked slightly disappointed. "Is he your new boyfriend or husband?"
Cassie stared in shock. "No way, he's my roommate."
Although he was her husband on paper, Joseph didn't acknowledge it at all, so she was a wife in name only.
Billy smiled. "When you talk to him, it sounds like he's your man."
"Really?"
Cassie's heart skipped a beat. 'No way,' she thought. 'Joseph and I always communicate like this. Maybe living together gives people that impression.'
She hadn't seen Billy in a long time, and they had a great conversation. They ate until nine, and Billy dropped her off at the entrance of Emerald Bay.
"Remember to report in tomorrow morning. I recently took on a villa project at Garden Height. You'll go measure the place tomorrow."
"Okay." Cassie waved at him and only turned around after watching him leave.
She saw Joseph standing on the stairs in casual clothes, looking at her coldly. Dakota was lazily leaning against his chest, looking sleepy.
"Your friend is a man?" Joseph's eyebrows were furrowed tightly.
Joseph thought about how he had eaten terrible food tonight while she was happily dining out with another man, and a wave of anger surged up.
"Yeah, he's my senior from college."
Joseph interrupted her, "Cassie, I'm warning you. You chose to marry me. Even if it's a contract marriage, you need to be more discreet."
Cassie's smile froze. "I just had a meal with a friend. Do you really see me as that kind of person?"
"Who knows? We haven't known each other that long," Joseph mocked. "And remember, don't casually eat out. Don't forget you're Dakota's nanny. Its stomach problems are your responsibility."
"Dakota is fine now. It even looks like it's getting chubby." Cassie bit her lip. If he hadn't saved her twice, she would definitely argue with him.
Joseph sneered. "Yeah, and why is it getting chubby? You should reflect on your responsibilities as Dakota's nanny. I'm asking you to take care of it, not fatten it up."
