Chapter 1163 I'll Do It Myself

"Yeah," Daniele nodded. "I checked the online comments, and surprisingly, a lot of people support Cassie and Joseph. Seems like David has a bad rep and even hits women. Plus, he tricked Cassie into marrying him. But you know, online stuff is always a mix of truth and lies, and we can't see the full picture."

"You're right," Everett said, flipping through the documents. "There are two reasons. One, David is a terrible person. Two, Cassie is cunning. To justify her affair, she trashed David's reputation, making it look like her affair was justified."

Daniele nodded in agreement. "It's probably the second one. Ms. Brooks said Cassie is really vicious, even capable of harming her own grandmother and parents."

Everett pressed his lips together.

If it were before, he would've believed it without a second thought.

He wondered, 'Is Cassie really that bad? If she is, why did she save me yesterday? Can someone hide their true nature that well?'

As he continued looking through the files, he was shocked. "Cassie is also the Chief Design Director of Hazle Group?"

He had met Cristian Marino, the owner of Hazle Group, a talented guy who designed the most famous hotel in Neya City.

Everett thought Cassie was impressive.

"Let's hold off on taking action against Cassie," Everett said, closing the file. "I'll handle it myself."

"Okay," Daniele said, puzzled. Dealing with Cassie was easy for him, so why did Everett need to do it personally?

At the prison gate, Cassie waited about twenty minutes before the guard called her in.

Soon, she saw Helen.

It had been a few years since they last met, and Helen had aged a lot. Once well-maintained, she now looked almost seventy despite being in her fifties, her face full of wrinkles, showing she hadn't been doing well in prison.

"Helen," Cassie said, picking up the phone and looking through the glass.

"You used to call me mom. Now you call me Helen. After all the years I raised you, you ungrateful wretch," Helen said, glaring at Cassie.

Cassie replied calmly, "You're not my mom. A woman like you who harmed her mother-in-law doesn't deserve to be called mom."

"Then why did you call me out?" Helen sneered. "Are you anxious because we're about to be released? I didn't expect that after all your efforts to send us in, we'd be out in just four years."

Cassie frowned. "It was Olivia. She's back."

"Are you scared?" Helen laughed triumphantly. "Cassie, you'll soon get what's coming to you. Olivia will make you pay a thousand times over for everything you did to us. Just wait."

"As expected," Cassie said, smiling. "Fine, four years ago, I let her escape. Since she's back, I'll deal with her thoroughly. By the way, after you went to prison, Olivia was sold to a nightclub. That was probably the highlight of her life."

"What did you say?" Helen fumed. "You wretch, how dare you do that to Olivia. You're done for. Olivia won't let you go. We'll make your life a living hell."

"Are you kidding me?" Cassie snorted.

"You have no idea what Olivia's status is now. Killing you would be easy for her. Even with Joseph, it won't help. Even the President of Madison can't protect you," Helen snarled.

"Really? I'm looking forward to it," Cassie said with a contemptuous smile, though she felt uneasy inside.

Cassie thought, 'Helen wouldn't say this without reason; she must know something.'

Cassie didn't visit Robert, knowing he was too cunning to reveal anything.

But Helen was different. A little provocation, and she'd spill some secrets.

"Cassie, you may be smug now, but it won't help. No one can save you," Helen laughed maniacally. "I heard you're in Whisperlyn City now, right? Just wait. We'll come for you once we're out."

Cassie put down the phone and walked away.

Outside the prison, Joseph saw her and walked up, holding her hand. "How did it go?"

"It's related to Olivia," Cassie said, pausing. "It seems Olivia has hooked up with someone important, someone whose status might be on par with or even higher than the President of Madison."

Joseph's face darkened. "How come? For someone like Olivia?"

"I don't know," Cassie said bitterly. "Olivia, like Megan, is very good at pretending."

"It'll be fine," Joseph said, wrapping his arm around her waist. "Let's go back to Silverwood. The Hernandez Group's new product is about to launch."

"Okay," Cassie nodded. Before leaving Silverwood, she called Spencer and Peter. "You two keep an eye on the prison. I have a feeling that when Robert and Helen are released, Olivia might come. Don't follow too closely. You two should split up. If one gets into danger, at least the other can help."

"You mean?" Spencer was slightly surprised.

"Be cautious," Cassie advised.

Back in Whisperlyn City.

The Hernandez group held a press conference, with Joseph giving a speech.

Nowadays, the Hernandez family was seen as a spent force, and the industry didn't pay much attention, resulting in only a dozen or so reporters attending.

"Mr. Hernandez, are you entering the electronics field because the Chamberlain family recently invested two hundred billion dollars in this area? Are you planning to compete with the Chamberlain family? But the Chamberlain family's status and wealth are beyond the Hernandez family's reach, right?"

"Mr. Hernandez, don't make a joke. The Chamberlain family has introduced top-notch technology from the Garrison Group. How can the Hernandez family compare?"

Facing the reporters' mockery, Joseph smiled. "The Chamberlain family is still in the research phase, but we, the Hernandez Group, have already developed our products. In three days, they will be launched globally. You can check out our latest transformer and X-ray machine."
