Chapter 7 Is it still possible to return this

The more she thought about it, the more unsettled she became. Unable to contain herself, she called Laura and got straight to the point. "Are you sure he's really Arthur's uncle?"

"Of course, Elliott said so himself. Elliott even had dinner with him at the bar."

Cassie patted her chest reassuringly. "I'm afraid I've married the wrong person."

"Married? Did you two really get married?" Laura exclaimed, "He actually went through with it?"

Cassie confirmed, and Laura, feigning tears, clutched the phone. "We promised to be each other's angels, and in the blink of an eye, you left me all alone."

Cassie had her grievances to bear.

"By the way, you two have to treat me to a meal."

"Well, he has no feelings for me," Cassie bravely recounted the events.

"So, you almost slept with him last night?" Laura lowered her voice. "Cassie, you can do it. He's handsome and rich, a hundred times better than Arthur. You're Silverwood's recognized beauty. He's bound to be yours sooner or later."

"I believe in myself, too." After the call, Cassie looked around the house, feeling it was too cold. She decided to go to the nearby supermarket to redecorate it.

At four o'clock in the afternoon, ZF Law Office.

Joseph opened a file as Noah Collins walked in. "Congratulations! Want to go out for dinner tonight?"

"Don't you understand why I got married?" Joseph didn't even look up, his tone cold as he continued to flip through the pages.

"You're really heartless, but I heard Cassie is stunningly beautiful. Don't you have any feelings for her?" Noah sat down on the swivel chair, curious as he observed Joseph's expression.

Joseph paused for a moment, recalling Cassie's shy demeanor under him last night, and involuntarily tightened his grip on the file in his hand.

After a moment of silence, he said, "I've seen plenty of beautiful women."

"That's true. If it weren't for those people from the Hernandez family using your marriage as a bargaining chip, she wouldn't have had the chance to marry you. She really isn't worthy of your noble status." Noah sighed. "So, how are you adjusting to working in our small town of Silverwood?"

"I'm just experiencing it," Joseph replied.

"Life's unfair. Why are you already at the peak of the field when we all graduated together?" Feeling insulted, Noah gritted his teeth. "Forget it, I won't argue with you. Let's have dinner with a few senior lawyers from the company tonight. Consider it a favor for me."

Joseph agreed, and his phone suddenly rang.

He picked it up and opened the message: [Honey, it's Cassie.]

He rubbed his forehead.

Cassie: [Honey, are you coming home for dinner?]

Joseph: [I'm not coming back. Don't call me that.]

Cassie: [Okay, can I call you Joey? Joey sounds nice.]

Joseph didn't reply, thinking, 'Can I divorce her now?'
