Chapter 1308 I Feel Like Throwing Up When I See You

"Yo, shut up. You're just tryna say Cassie is Isabella's kid, right? You offed Olivia, drove Isabella nuts, and now you want Cassie to fake being Isabella's daughter so she can snag all her stuff. Declan, how the hell did Isabella end up with a scumbag like you?"

Helen yelled, "What kinda spell did she put on you to make you act like this? Is she really all that? Just 'cause she's younger than our Isabella?"

The word "younger" hit Isabella like a punch to the gut. Even her weak body started to wobble.

"Isabella." Declan tried to help her, looking worried.

"Back off!" Isabella shot him a look like he was trash. "Seeing you makes me wanna puke."

Declan was floored, totally crushed by his wife's words.

His deep blue eyes were filled with heavy sorrow.

But right then, Isabella thought he was just putting on a show. "Declan, I'm gonna call you out for locking me up and for Olivia's death, one by one. No matter how she spends the money I gave, it's none of your business. I alone have the right to reclaim it. We signed a prenup before we got hitched. My stuff has nothing to do with you. Even if I wanna give it to my brother, that's my call."

The assistant was freaking out. "Madam, you're too naive."

"Shut it." Declan cut him off.

"Enough. Stop faking it!" Isabella sneered. "Our beef ends with death. I'll send the divorce papers over soon. Let's get this over with, fast."

"I ain't divorcing you." Declan shot Helen a warning look and then bounced.

Once he was gone, Helen let out a sigh of relief. She was always scared of Declan, especially after hearing he had beaten David to a pulp in the conference room.

Isabella stared blankly at the ashes in her hand, thinking of her other missing son.

She really couldn't wrap her head around how things went so sideways after just one trip to Madison.

She felt waves of dizziness, something that had been happening a lot lately. But she held on. She couldn't pass out or fall.

She still had to get her revenge.

"By the way, Helen, I forgot to ask Declan earlier. Any news about Everett?"

Helen shook her head. "Robert got his buddies to look for Everett in Silverwood, but nada. We think it has something to do with Cassie 'cause she was the one who coaxed Everett to go to Silverwood that day. Only Cassie knows where he is."

"Declan doesn't care?" Isabella was in disbelief. That was his own son.

"He doesn't buy it at all. He thinks Cassie is a saint." Helen sighed. "I don't know how I gave birth to such a piece of work. If I had known, I would've strangled her at birth. You don't know, she used to not even acknowledge me and her dad. After Olivia died, she started acknowledging us 'cause the shares would go to us, which is just gross."

"It is pretty gross." Isabella's eyes burned with intense anger.

She was dead set on ruining Cassie and making her life a living hell.

In the Hernandez House.

Cassie had just finished getting the kids ready for bed when her phone buzzed.

She stepped out onto the balcony. "Declan, what's up this late?"

"Isabella's escaped," Declan's deep voice came through. "She hit up the funeral home first thing. Helen's stirring the pot, saying I pushed Olivia to her death and recently locked Isabella up to drive her nuts."

"Say no more, I get it." Cassie's face turned serious. She thought, 'Isabella probably thinks Declan's cheating on her with me.'

"Don't get it twisted. She wasn't always like this. It's the meds."

Cassie gave a bitter smile. Even now, Declan was defending Isabella. "Declan, I don't mind. I barely know her. She can think whatever she wants. But you, you've been with her for decades. Don't let it get to you."

Declan felt a warmth in his heart and sighed deeply. "I never thought we'd end up like this. Now, she probably buys whatever Robert and Helen are selling. She'll likely go to any lengths to fight us."

Cassie said tiredly, "Is there really no other way?"

"Isabella's definitely reached out to folks from Emerald Haven Island. If I lock her up for treatment now, they'll come after the Wittelsbach family for revenge. Our backgrounds are pretty similar, and any beef would be serious." Declan said helplessly.

"So we just let her be?" Cassie asked. "If her illness isn't treated, there will definitely be severe side effects."

"Her health is shot, and she knows it. But she probably thinks it's 'cause of the meds I gave her in the hospital. Once she gets back to Emerald Haven Island, she'll get a pro medical team to treat her. She'll get better, but not now."

Declan paused, then said dejectedly, "And even if she gets better and chills out, the fact that I locked her up and that Olivia isn't her daughter won't change. She'll probably still think we're out to get her."

Cassie was stunned. It was the first time she had heard such a defeated tone from Declan.

It seemed Isabella had said some very hurtful things.

"Declan, it's just that we don't have any proof. She doesn't believe what we say. Even if we did a paternity test, she'd think we faked it. Maybe the only person she'd trust now is her son. If we could find Everett, the truth would come out. But we've been searching forever with no luck." Cassie said in frustration.

After their conversation ended, Cassie went to the next bedroom and knocked on Joseph's door.

When the door opened, Joseph was shirtless with water droplets still on his chest.

Every time Cassie saw Joseph's familiar body, she still felt a surge of desire.

"Were you taking a shower?"

Joseph looked at her blushing face and couldn't help but laugh. He thought, 'She's seen my body before, so why's she still blushing?'

And she was so adorable, making him want to pull her into his arms and kiss her.
