Chapter 1487 Idiot
The chocolate was so good that Laura just couldn't stop munching on it. But if she kept this up, wouldn't she end up getting really fat?
She grabbed her phone and called Derek, fuming, "Can you quit bringing me all these sweets? I've already put on weight being stuck in the hospital. Are you trying to make me balloon up?"
Derek sighed on the other end, "Alright, I'll have someone take the chocolate away. It's a shame, though. My friend said that box cost eight grand, and it's not much available in our country."
Eight grand!
Laura paused, "Wait, since it's already here, never mind. I'll help you finish it this time, but seriously, don't do this again."
"Okay, okay," Derek agreed, sounding a bit defeated.
In the hospital.
Michael was staring at his phone, reading the statement from the Jude Group.
His mind was a mess.
James had publicly cut ties with him before, but family bonds were different from shares. Once shares were transferred, they were gone for good.
Even Aaron had a thirty percent inheritance, but Michael got zilch.
Michael not only lost his inheritance but also had no shares.
What did this mean?
Michael buried his head in his knees, feeling completely lost.
Then his phone rang, and it was Jonah calling.
Michael stared at the phone, not wanting to pick up.
Megan, sitting on the bed, looked at him curiously. "What's up? Why aren't you answering? Is it Laura?"
Megan thought Laura couldn't possibly leave Michael, but no matter what Laura did, Michael could never forgive her.
"No, it's Jonah. I'll take it outside." Michael grabbed his phone and walked out.
After stepping out of the ward, Michael finally answered, "What's up?"
"Michael, how could you not tell me about this huge thing?" Jonah sounded excited. "Your dad actually handed the company over to Julia. The Jude Group is going through a major shake-up. Did Julia pull some kind of trick?"
Jonah kept going, "Be straight with me. Did you really lose your inheritance and your shares?"
"Didn't the Jude Group issue a statement?" Michael felt a wave of irritation just hearing Jonah's voice, like he was about to snap.
"What did you do?" Jonah's voice rose in disbelief. "You've always been in charge of the new energy company. How could they just kick you out?"
"Julia had already planted people around me. I just found out recently," Michael said with a bitter smile. "I've been completely abandoned."
Jonah felt speechless and uttered, "Then get Joseph and Lucas to help you. With their skills, they should be able to handle Julia together."
"Enough, don't mention those two to me again." Michael felt a sharp pain in his heart.
Michael wasn't dumb. The day he caused a scene at the Hernandez House, he completely fell out with Joseph. As for Lucas, they hadn't fought, but there was still tension. Michael had been staying in the hospital with Megan, and Lucas, who worked there, never even came by to say hi.
A few days ago, after leaving the Jude Group in despair, Michael wanted to ask Lucas out for a drink.
Lucas straight-up told Michael he was busy.
Michael got the message then—his friendship with Lucas was toast too.
"Did you fall out with them too?" Jonah, shocked, and asked helplessly, "Are you nuts? Joseph's future wife's mom is an oil tycoon. The Nelson Family's business is on par with the Jude Family. Do you know how many people want to get in with them? Just by sticking with Joseph and Lucas, you could live it up in Madison for the rest of your life, and you still blew it."
Jonah added, "Go apologize to them and ask for their help."
Michael was already at his breaking point, and Jonah's nagging pushed him over the edge. "Enough, shut up. Am I beneath them? Why should I apologize? My business is none of your concern. If you want to suck up to them, go ahead."
Jonah was furious too. "Michael, are you crazy? What status do you have now? Do you know what people in the elite circles are saying? Everyone can see you don't get a single share of the Jude Group. You've been ditched by the Jude Family. Even your daughter is better off than you. Your father's shares will all go to her, and even the Presidential Palace is distancing itself from you. I'm calling to give you some advice out of our acquaintance, but now I see you're just wasting good resources, you idiot."
Michael was enraged by Jonah's words. "Jonah, you're really something. When I returned to the Jude Family, you were the first to suck up to me. Now you say this? You're shameless."
"Even if I'm shameless, I'm better than you." Jonah sneered, "You lost everything for a fling. You're an idiot."
Michael couldn't take it anymore and lowered his voice to a growl, "Others have the right to criticize me, but you don't. If it weren't for you bringing Megan into my life, would I be like this today?"
Michael wouldn't be. He would still be in love with Laura, have a cute and mischievous daughter, and parents who had high hopes for him. Even Megan wouldn't be disabled.
"If you hadn't been hung up on Megan, would I have brought her to you? Did I force you to take her in? Did I make you sleep with her? And you better move Megan's stuff out of my house immediately."
"Jonah, I've finally seen you for what you are. Don't come to me for help in the future."
"Fine! Anyway, you're the plague that everyone is running away from."
Michael couldn't listen anymore and hung up the phone.
After hanging up, Michael, still fuming, threw his phone against the wall.
He kicked the wall a few times in anger, then grabbed his hair and squatted down.
So this was Michael's faithful friend
