Chapter 1330 Making You a Dog of the Dixon Family
"Ralph, man, thanks a ton," David said, looking all grateful. "Don't sweat it. Now that Marigold's into Joseph, let her make him her boy toy."
"Marigold, check out how chill David is," Ralph said, grinning at Marigold. "Honestly, with Joseph's current status, he ain't even fit to scrub the Dixon family's floors. No way I'd agree to your marriage. But hey, if you like him that much, I don't mind you keeping him around like a pet."
"Dad!" Marigold gasped. She had no clue David and her dad had already cooked up this plan. She shot a worried look at Joseph.
Joseph, shaking with rage, pushed her away. "So you brought the kid here to blackmail Cassie?"
"What else?" David smirked. "You really thought the Dixon family would warm up to you? Joseph, if it weren't for Marigold liking you, you wouldn't even be fit to be the Dixon family's dog."
"Enough, David! Shut up!" Marigold snapped, glaring at him.
"Am I wrong, Marigold? Need a reminder of how he dissed you before? Remember what he did with Cassie in your bathroom on your birthday?" David taunted. "Joseph was so cocky back then. But now, if you get on your knees and lick my shoes clean, we might let you live. Otherwise, your Hernandez House and a bunch of folks in Whisperlyn City are ready to pounce."
Joseph's fists clenched tight, his eyes burning with murderous rage at David.
Ralph chuckled, "Yeah, Joseph, your mom was the hottest chick in Whisperlyn City back in the day. A bunch of our buddies chased her, but she blew them off. Even now, she's still good enough to scratch some itches."
"Shut up!" Joseph roared, his eyes bloodshot.
David suddenly whipped out a gun, pointing it at him with a grin. "Come any closer, and I'll shoot. Even if you die here today, no one would dare touch me."
Ralph just kept smiling, saying nothing.
Joseph, seething, said, "Let me remind you, Mr. Jude's coming tonight. This Madison ain't the Dixon family's yet."
David exchanged a look with Ralph and sneered. "Ralph, you hear that? How about we make Madison the Dixon family's tonight?"
"David, I got faith in you," Ralph said, beaming. "From now on, you can rule the business world, and I'll handle the politics."
Joseph looked stunned.
"Joseph," Marigold pleaded, worried he'd piss off David and Ralph. "Why not just suck it up? You want your old mom to get hurt? And your grandparents? Stick with me, and I'll protect your family."
Joseph glared at her with pure hatred.
"Marigold, remember your place. Soon, you'll be the princess of Madison. How can you let a guy sway you?" Ralph slowly stood up. "If you want, I can send him to your bed tonight."
"Dad," Marigold said, grinning from ear to ear.
She'd been bummed out, but seeing Joseph grovel in front of her was kinda satisfying.
David chimed in with a smirk, "Marigold, with your status, you don't need to stoop to please some guy. Maybe Joseph was worth it before. But now, without the Hernandez Group, is he really worth your time?"
Marigold felt a twinge of agreement. She knew the Dixon family's game plan. She thought, 'Yeah, I'm gonna be a princess.' Seeing Joseph so powerless in front of David made him seem pretty useless. She liked strong, capable men. Joseph used to be that, but not anymore.
"Marigold, have you forgotten what you told me before?" Joseph pleaded, staring at her. "You said you loved me."
Seeing his desperate look, Marigold suddenly felt bored. "I do love you, but you always make me take the lead. Joseph, I promise, I can keep you safe as long as you stay obedient. Deal?"
"What if I don't?" Joseph's fists clenched.
"If you don't, then you can leave today," Ralph said coldly. "And your mom can entertain my business buddies."
Joseph's eyes widened in shock.
He took a deep breath, eyes downcast in humiliation. "Fine, I'll listen to you from now on."
"Joseph, you're so obedient."
Marigold was thrilled, almost forgetting she originally wanted Joseph to win her parents' approval for marriage.
"No, Joseph, you're wrong. You should say you're willing to be Marigold's dog," David warned, pressing the gun to his head.
"I'm willing to be Marigold's dog," Joseph muttered, head down, eyes icy.
"Interesting!"
The room filled with laughter.
Ralph was ecstatic. "The former richest man, Mr. Hernandez of the Hernandez family, willing to be the Dixon family's dog. How amusing!"
"Ralph, it's gonna get even more interesting," David reminded with a grin.
"Yeah, David, partnering with you was the smartest move I ever made," Ralph said, patting his shoulder. "I can't wait!"
Just then, a bodyguard's voice came from outside, "Mr. Dixon, Mr. Jude and his family have arrived."
"Let's go welcome Mr. Jude," Ralph said, leading his wife downstairs. "Marigold, and that dog, hurry up."
"Hurry up," David whispered in Joseph's ear. "Being Marigold's dog ain't so bad. Plus, you'll get to see how Cassie becomes my dog too."
He laughed and walked away.
He didn't see the fierce look in Joseph's eyes as Joseph watched him leave.
Downstairs.
Carl and his family, along with James and Michael, appeared in the banquet hall.
"Mr. President, welcome! It's an honor to have you at my birthday party," Ralph said, walking up to shake hands with a big smile.
