Chapter 1694 Angry
Elliott's temples throbbed. "Even if I don't accept you, I don't have a habit of being betrayed in marriage, and I find it disgusting, understand?"
Although Julia was used to his cold words, she was still hurt again. She lowered her eyes and said nothing.
The moonlight fell on her head, making her slender figure appear somewhat fragile.
Elliott irritably unbuttoned a few buttons on his shirt. "Anyway, you're not allowed to dress like this for running anymore."
"Don't worry, I won't let you be betrayed in marriage." Julia suddenly smirked. "If I ever find myself in danger, I'd rather kill myself than let you, my husband, be humiliated."
"Julia."
Elliott was somewhat infuriated by her stubborn words.
Julia put her headphones back on and ran past him with her head down.
Elliott grabbed her arm and commanded, "Come home with me."
Elliott's grip was firm and strong; Julia was no match for him. He forcefully dragged her towards Meadowbrook Village.
The two of them remained silent the entire way.
When they entered the elevator, a middle-aged woman who lived upstairs joined them.
The woman looked at Elliott, then at Julia, and suddenly smiled. "Did you get a girlfriend?"
Elliott turned his head and remembered that this woman lived upstairs. He often ran into her on his way to work in the mornings and occasionally chatted with her. She had even mentioned having a single niece she could introduce to him.
He glanced at Julia beside him, hesitating on what to say, when Julia smiled slightly. "We got married."
"So soon? Congratulations!" The woman was startled but then smiled warmly. "You two seem to get along well, coming back holding hands."
Elliott looked down at his hand and realized he had been holding hers the entire way back from the park.
A hint of embarrassment flashed across his handsome face, and he instinctively let go.
The woman laughed. "You're shy. It's nothing; I've been through it."
As soon as the elevator arrived, Elliott quickly strode out.
Julia politely smiled at the woman before following him.
Once inside, she put away her smile and headed straight to the bedroom.
Elliott, annoyed by her cold attitude, blurted out, "Who told you to tell others we're married?"
Julia turned around, the light revealing Elliott's deliberate provocation.
Even the most patient person has a temper.
Julia probably felt she had been too accommodating lately. "I don't want to argue with you right now, so the person standing in front of you isn't Julia; it's the head of the Jude Group."
Elliott was taken aback and suddenly understood everything.
She meant that she was now the head of the Jude Group, and he should be polite to her; otherwise, it would be easy for her to crush the Miller Group.
His handsome face gradually darkened.
Julia, having run several laps in the park, was quite tired. "Elliott, whenever you face me, you're like a porcupine, full of spikes. You've worked all day; aren't you tired?"
After saying this, she turned and took a few steps before looking back. "Let me remind you, men who are always angry age faster."
This time, she went straight into the bedroom.
Elliott's mouth twitched in anger.
They had just gotten married, and she was already suggesting he was aging quickly.
Did she not want him if he got old?
Frustrated, he kicked over the trash can in front of him.
A cup noodle container rolled out.
He was stunned.
She had eaten cup noodles tonight?
Elliott pressed his temples. She was still the same as before, a grown woman who couldn't even prepare a proper meal.
He bent down to pick up the trash and then walked into the bedroom.
From the bathroom came the sound of running water. The silhouette behind the frosted glass made his blood rush to a certain part of his body.
The image of her seductive form from the previous night flashed through his mind, and Elliott suddenly felt an urge to push the door open and go in.
After all, they were already married.
After all, they had already made love.
After all, she seemed quite eager for it.
As various thoughts crossed his mind, his phone suddenly rang.
The crisp ringtone was like a bucket of cold water.
He regained his composure and walked to the balcony with his phone. "Mom."
"Where did you run off to again?" Rose asked.
"A friend came to Whisperlyn City. I'm not coming back tonight; I'll sleep at the apartment," Elliott said softly.
"Alright, it's just as well you're not coming back tonight. Your dad and I were out for a walk when we got a call from the Penrose Family. Isadora's parents came to our house," Rose said quietly. "We had to cut our walk short and come back early."
Elliott frowned. "Why did they come?"
"They said they were concerned about the Miller Group's situation, but I heard from Thalia that Isadora has been causing a fuss at home. The Penrose Family probably still wants to arrange a marriage with us. By the way, I didn't know you gave them two stores. You're such a good son; those stores are worth nearly a billion dollars, and you just gave them away."
Elliott said flatly, "I was worried the Penrose Family would bring up the marriage again. Now that the stores have been transferred, I don't owe Isadora anything, and the marriage is off the table."
"Regardless, I think those stores were too valuable. If I'd known, I wouldn't have let her save you. Losing an arm or a leg or getting disfigured wouldn't have cost so much."
Elliott was silent.
So, in Rose's eyes, his limbs were worth less than money.
Rose sighed. "But what's done is done. I don't want to arrange a marriage with them either. You should find a girlfriend soon."
"Mom, I'm busy. Bye."
Rose started her usual nagging about marriage, and Elliott quickly hung up.
Ten minutes later, Julia came out of the shower, but she wasn't wearing the black camisole nightgown from the previous night. Instead, she wore a set of cotton pajamas with long sleeves and pants, buttoned up to her collarbone, revealing nothing.
Elliott's eyes darkened as he took his clothes to the bathroom.
Once inside, he was enveloped by the scent of her body wash, and her previously worn underwear was in the basket beside him.
As he lingered for a few seconds, Julia came in to take her clothes out, not even glancing at him.
"Wait."
Elliott, inexplicably annoyed, quickly took off his clothes and threw them at her. "Wash these too. My clothes need to be hand-washed."
Julia put the shirt in the basket and then placed it at his feet. "Then you can help me wash mine too. They need to be hand-washed."
"Julia," Elliott's face instantly darkened. "Is this how you act as my wife?"
