Chapter 778

It was Cassie speaking.

Joseph was visibly flustered. He turned to glance at Sophia, who was focused on her watch and informed him, "We're at the parking lot. We'll be there shortly."

After ending the call, Joseph's handsome brows quickly furrowed, "You made plans with Cassie ?"

"Yeah." Sophia swung her legs.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Joseph regretted.

"I was scared you wouldn't come if I told you," Sophia said, sticking out her tongue. "Grandma mentioned that you were heartbroken, so I asked Dad what a man should do when he's heartbroken. Dad said that the best way for a man to get over heartbreak is to start a new romance. After considering it, the only person I know nearby is Aunt Cassie."

Joseph felt awkward. So, in the eyes of others, he was heartbroken. "So... you asked Aunt Cassie and she readily agreed to come?"

"Yeah." Sophia nodded.

Joseph instinctively gripped the steering wheel tighter. Did Sophia know he was not married and was seeking to reconcile with him?

Joseph unbuttoned the top button of his shirt collar, feeling a slight release of the emotions he had been holding back.

However, Sophia continued, "Because I lied to her and said I was coming with Dad."

So, did that woman agree to come to the amusement park purely because of Liam?

What did Liam have that he didn't?

He silently repeated Liam's name in his mind, feeling very angry.

Joseph coldly snorted to himself, "Even if you tell Cassie it's me, she would still agree to come." He thought, 'Cassie still has feelings for me. She would see this as a chance to reconcile.'"

"No," Sophia pouted, "I mentioned to Aunt Cassie that I wanted you to take me to dinner with her. She said if you were coming, she wouldn't join us, and she mentioned that she gets annoyed when she sees you.""

Joseph was suddenly very angry. Was Sophia here to comfort him or to make him angry?

"So you want me to start a new romance? You're messing around."

"Did I do something to upset you?" Sophia noticed the anger on Joseph's face and pouted in disappointment.

"Should I call Dad to come over? Uncle Joseph, you can go back." "You called me here just to send me away now?" Joseph felt uneasy. Sophia's behavior was cold-hearted.

"I can't send Aunt Cassie back. She's a girl." Sophia blinked innocently.

Joseph was speechless. Seeing Sophia about to make a call on her watch, he blurted out, "Forget it, don't call. I've already parked the car, and I'm too lazy to go back."

"So, would you like to go on a date with Aunt Cassie?" Sophia's cute face had a playful expression.

"What date? Stop talking nonsense. I am just taking you to the amusement park."

As Joseph stepped out of the car and reached to shut the door, he caught a glimpse of his reflection on the door. Fortunately, he had showered before leaving, but his shirt was slightly disheveled.

He hastily tucked it in and checked his face to ensure he had shaved properly. Lack of sleep had taken a toll on him, as his dark circles appeared more pronounced.

Suddenly, the door opened, and Sophia got off, hands on her hips in frustration. "Uncle Joseph, what are you doing staring at the window all this time?"

"My clothes were a bit messy; I'm just straightening them out," Joseph coughed and changed the topic.

"Hey, look, there's cotton candy over there; let me get you one." "Sure," Sophia's attention was successfully redirected.

Five minutes later, Joseph and Sophia reached the entrance of the amusement park. Just as they were about to approach, Joseph spotted Cassie standing there. She was dressed in jeans, a white T-shirt, and white sneakers. Her chestnut curls were pulled back in a ponytail, giving her a simple college student appearance, but her strikingly beautiful face made her stand out.
