Chapter 718
In the hospital.
Matilda had already notified everyone in the family.
Liam quickly texted Cassie, telling her not to bring Oliver over. Seeing one granddaughter, Matilda was already insanely happy. If two kids showed up, it would be too much.
Cassie, who was halfway there, felt very helpless.
How did her good daughter disappear overnight and become Liam's daughter?
Liam, that unreliable person.
In less than an hour.
Walter, Mabel, Marcus, Celeste, and Isaac all arrived. They were initially skeptical, but when they saw Sophia, they didn't dare to doubt anymore. Because she looked too much like Mabel when she was young.
Mabel liked her immediately. She was a career-driven woman who never thought about descendants, but seeing such a cute granddaughter who looked like her warmed her heart.
As she walked over, Sophia looked up at her and said, "I know, you must be my grandma."
"I told you, Sophia is very smart, truly a descendant of the Hernandez family," Matilda boasted like a child.
Mabel also smiled, "Yes, I am your grandma. How did you know?"
Sophia tilted her head and thought, "You look a bit like Liam, so I thought you must be. And when you smiled at me, it was really different, like a neighbor's grandma picking up her grandson."
"My friend's got awesome grandparents who spoil him a lot, but I don't have any like that," Sophia suddenly said sadly but quickly smiled again, "But now I do."
"Yes, from now on, you have grandparents," Mabel said, hugging her with a pained expression, then glaring at Liam. "How could you keep something that massive under wraps for so long? We'll have a little chat about this later.."
Walter also snorted, "Our Hernandez family descendant was pitiful enough to envy others for having grandparents. Children need family affection. You should have brought her back earlier. By the way, who is her mother, and why did she leave her here alone?"
Liam had already thought of an excuse and immediately explained, "I had no clue about her until recently. Her mom was a waitress at a bar. I found her attractive, so I stuck around for a bit. Eventually, I lost interest and paid her to leave. I was blunt, telling her she wasn't up to my standards and could never be part of the Hernandez family. Little did I know she was pregnant back then. She sadly passed away from cancer some time ago, leaving the child in my care."
Sophia burst into tears, "Mom."
"Alright, don't cry. I'll be with you from now on," Mabel said, stroking her little head, "Come, this is your grandpa."
"Sophia." Marcus smiled at her, then suddenly said, "Why do I feel like she looks more like Joseph?"
"Right, I have that feeling, too," Celeste added.
Liam, feeling flustered, said, "Well, I can't help it. Joseph and I have the same mother."
"That's normal. Some girls look like their uncles," Matilda suddenly sighed, "If Joseph's twins were still here, they would be about this age too."
