Chapter 367
"Ethan Bennett is also quite a catch," Vera said, observing the blank Luna. "Forget Joseph. He publicly shamed you; now he's the one who will regret it."
Luna snapped out of her stupor.
Right. Joseph had been toying with her, having even made her suffer in a police cell.
Her love for him had turned into a cruel joke!
She swore that one day, she'd make him beg for her forgiveness.
And then there was Cassie, destined to make her life a misery – she'd have her revenge.
After her release from the police station, reporters swarmed around Luna, who now seemed only like a shadow of her former self, her pale face adorned with tears.
Reporters surged forward, asking, "Miss Luna, we heard about the scandal with Joseph and another woman at the Hernandez Group's charity dinner. Is it true?"
"Please, no more questions," said Luna with a wistful smile. "I don't want to dwell on how deplorable Joseph could be. I'd been happy to be with him after loving him for so long. It's just that I loved the wrong person, but I hold no grudges. I wish him happiness."
"Miss Luna, you're so gracious. Joseph doesn't deserve you. You'll find happiness," a female reporter commented.
"I don't know about that, but I'm really tired now. I hope every girl learns to protect herself and her heart," Luna replied.

In the office
Cassie frowned, looking at Luna's interview on her smartphone.
Clearly, Luna's words had won over the sympathy and affection of the entire Madison community.
Men praised her for her high emotional intelligence and refinement - a true lady born into high society. Women said she had a generous heart and sincere nature, a naive girl who deserved better than Joseph. Joseph, they said, wasn't worthy of her.
But considering Luna's often thoughtless demeanor, it was a surprise to hear such calculated words from her. There was something uncanny about this whole situation.
While she pondered, the phone rang.
It was Laura Miller calling to share the latest gossip. "I thought Luna was head over heels for Joseph. Her words now are like pushing a man already teetering on the edge of a cliff," Laura commented.
"Are you worried about him?" Cassie retorted.
"Please, I'm more worried about you worrying about him!"
"I wouldn't worry," Cassie instinctively replied. “The worse it gets for him, the more chance I have to break free from his clutches."
"Yeah, but it's so strange. With the scene that's been caused, everyone in Madison is dying to know who Joseph's new lady is, but the media hasn't leaked anything about you. Normally, in these cases, the internet goes wild blaming the woman."
Cassie pursed her lips; she had noticed the same thing.
It was probably Liam manipulating everything from behind the scenes. She wondered whether he was refraining from revealing her identity due to regret or perhaps he didn't want to drag her down with him.
But she felt no gratitude. In her eyes, Liam was more despicable than Joseph. Joseph was overtly bad, while Liam was deceptively deep - and that made him more dangerous.
Laura continued, "Yet, you have to admit Joseph has some solid qualities. He could have easily defended himself by outing you, suggesting that you seduced him, and he wouldn't be getting trashed so hard. But till now, he's kept quiet."
