Chapter 1185 Gave Him One Surprise After Another

"You maniac, you poisoned it, didn't you? I'm not drinking it," Sarah yelled. "Marissa, we used to be friends, remember? We said we'd conquer the world together."

"I will conquer the world, but just me. I've had enough. When we're together, you get all the attention. He's always looking at you," Bernice said calmly, but her eyes were full of malice. "Leah, you can go to hell."

Bernice suddenly grabbed Sarah's chin.

Callie watched through the camera. Bernice's face was beautiful but filled with ferocity and madness.

Bernice didn't scream or widen her eyes dramatically. It was like she was born to be this evil.

Compared to Bernice, Sarah seemed exaggerated and unnatural. All she could do was scream and widen her eyes in fear and despair.

Bernice completely overshadowed Sarah.

"Curtis, you're up," Callie said.

Curtis was surprised. "I'm supposed to appear in the sixth scene. Should I go now?"

"I want to test Bernice," Callie said. "I hope you can match her performance."

Curtis nodded seriously. He hadn't liked Bernice much before, but he respected good acting, and Bernice had impressed him.

"Stop it," Curtis rushed in. Seeing Sarah's mouth full of medicine, he roughly pulled Bernice away. "What did you make her drink?"

Bernice's sinister face instantly turned into one of innocence and confusion. "I gave her medicine. She's too sick."

Lucas's second cigarette was almost burned out without him realizing it. He took a light puff, letting out a deep hum.

Bernice had truly surprised him. Her acting, even in front of a perfectionist like Callie, was flawless.

The final scene was Curtis killing Bernice. Her expression of despair and hatred towards her lover was clear and layered, as if she had truly loved, hated, despaired, and died.

Lucas stubbed out his cigarette and left.

The scene finally ended.

Bernice wiped her tears with a tissue and calmly walked over. "Callie, is that enough?"

Callie scrutinized her. She had just come out of an intense scene, and even Curtis, a seasoned actor, needed time to recover, but Bernice could switch on and off effortlessly.

Callie sighed silently, thinking, 'Bernice is born to be an actor. Too bad she isn't the lead in this film.'

"You can stay," Callie nodded and told the crew, "Arrange Bernice's hotel closer, switch her dressing room with the fourth female lead's. No more tricks. If it happens again, I don't care who recommended you. You won't be needed anymore. Alright, go have lunch."

With that, Callie left.

Bernice also left.

Everyone watched her go, amazed that Bernice had passed Callie's test in one take.

Bernice, facing an actor like Curtis, didn't flinch. She matched his performance, making Sarah's acting look awful.

Supported by her assistant, Sarah was fuming. She hadn't expected Bernice to be so good.

Sarah knew she had to get rid of Bernice, or she'd be overshadowed once the movie was out.

She glanced at the pavilion and saw Lucas had left.

She sighed in relief but felt annoyed, thinking, 'Lucas must have seen everything.'

Back in the car, the driver asked, "Mr. Nelson, back to Whisperlyn City?"

"Not yet. Find a place to eat," Lucas said, closing his eyes.

The driver took him to a restaurant. Just as he finished eating, he got a call from Max. "What are you doing?"

"About to eat. What's up?" Lucas asked calmly.

"Big news. Callie just called," Max said hesitantly. "She asked if Bernice could play the lead role. He said if we agree, he'd personally direct a film for Dreamscape Entertainment Group next year, and we can choose the actors."

Lucas raised an eyebrow but quickly understood.

If he were Callie, he'd do the same.

Bernice had shown that even a beautiful person could be thoroughly evil.

If they continued filming, Sarah's acting and beauty would be overshadowed.

When the movie was released, the lead actress would be criticized, which Callie didn't want.

Replacing Bernice could be a good choice, but Callie cherished talented actors and wouldn't want to do that.

So, she had to find a way to replace Sarah.

Max coughed lightly. "Callie said if Bernice plays the lead, the film could be nominated for international awards. He's willing to direct a new film for Sarah next year, tailored for her."

"No matter what, Sarah is my fiancée. The crew has already started filming. If we replace her now, where does that leave my reputation?" Lucas said. No matter how much he disliked Sarah, she was still his fiancée.

"Even if she stays, her acting will be overshadowed by Bernice," Max said. "Callie said if they continue filming, Sarah, as the lead, will become a supporting role to the second female lead. The public opinion will be harsh, and that's beyond her control."

"You think so too?" Lucas's face showed no expression.

"Callie said you were there this morning," Max said softly. "Just announce that Sarah is getting married and doesn't have time. If she wants to appear on screen this year, get her some variety shows. If Bernice becomes famous, she could be a goldmine for the company. Who would've thought her acting would improve so much after a breakup?"

"A breakup improved her acting?" Lucas smirked, recalling Bernice's eyes filled with resentment, despair, and pain.

He thought, 'Is it because she has been hurt? Does she care that much about Gary?'
