Chapter 1189 Are you Olivia?

"No," Bernice said honestly. After a pause, she added, "If you were single, I might fall for you. But you're about to get married and still hitting on women. I'm a decent person, and it makes me think you're..."

"What am I?" Lucas cut in, seeing her hesitate.

"You're a scumbag," Bernice said bluntly. "Your behavior is gross, but you probably think you're some kind of ladies' man."

Lucas's face darkened.

"Bernice, you're something else," he said with a nasty smile, shoving her out the door. "Get out."

Bernice left, taking her suitcase.

Watching her go without looking back, Lucas pulled out a cigarette but snapped it in half before lighting it.

A moment later, he started laughing quietly.

The driver in the front seat felt a chill.

Back at his spacious penthouse, Lucas stepped out of the elevator and saw Sarah at the door.

As soon as she saw him, Sarah, with red-rimmed eyes, walked over. "Mr. Nelson, Max said I should leave Callie's production. He wants Bernice to take the lead role."

"I know," Lucas said, unlocking the door with his fingerprint.

Sarah grabbed his shirt. "Lucas, everyone knows I'm your fiancée and that I've already started filming 'The Whispering Shadows.' If I leave after just one day, what will people say? They'll think Callie doesn't approve of my acting. They'll laugh at me. I'm about to marry you, and this will embarrass both me and the Nelson family."

Lucas looked at her, her eyes pitiful.

He thought of Bernice, so cold and rational. Her words were harsh but at least honest.

"Lucas, why are you looking at me like that?" Sarah asked, uneasy under his gaze. "I'm telling the truth."

"Sarah, you know you've embarrassed me, right? That's rare," Lucas said with a cold smile. "I got you into Callie's production, and after just one day, you were sent back."

Sarah's face turned red. "That's all because of Bernice."

"Did she outshine you with her acting?" Lucas interrupted. "I was there. Even as an outsider, I could see Bernice's performance crushed you. Do you think Callie would let you continue and embarrass herself? The final product would be a joke."

Sarah's face burned with shame. She retorted, "The company shouldn't have let Bernice go in the first place."

"I thought you acted so well in front of me that you could easily outshine Bernice. Who knew you could only act in real life and were a mess in front of the camera." Lucas's face was full of mockery. "Besides, do you think Callie is stupid? You caused so much trouble on the first day. Do you think she would want you to stay?"

Sarah opened her mouth, but Lucas impatiently said, "Enough, stop acting in front of me. What you're doing is just petty tricks. I agreed to marry you, not to let you use my name to bully others."

Sarah's face went pale from the scolding. "It's because of Bernice, isn't it? I've told you, she was played by Gary."

Before she could finish, Lucas grabbed her by the throat.

"Sarah, what right do you have to insult Bernice? If you weren't somewhat useful, I wouldn't keep a clown like you around. Get out." He pushed her away. "If you don't behave, I can call off the wedding anytime, got it?"

Sarah's lips trembled as she looked into his cold eyes, feeling both fear and dread.

"Okay, Lucas, don't be angry. I'll leave right away." She stumbled into the elevator.

As the elevator descended, she trembled with hatred.

If she could, she would kill Bernice, but now she was most afraid that Lucas wouldn't marry her.

She loved Lucas. Even though he was cold and heartless, she still loved him.

As for Bernice, Sarah could deal with her after she married Lucas.

Sarah gritted her teeth, and at that moment, her phone rang with a call from an unknown number.

Annoyed, she answered without thinking much, and Olivia's pleasant laughter came through. "Hi, Sarah. Long time no see. You're doing well and about to marry Mr. Nelson."

Sarah was stunned, hardly believing it. "Is that you, Olivia?"

After the Brooks family fell and Robert was arrested, Sarah hadn't seen Olivia. Now, Olivia even knew her private number.

"Sarah, I'm surprised you still recognize my voice. I thought you had forgotten me," Olivia said with a laugh.

Sarah frowned, unsure of what to say.

She had approached Olivia back then because she was useful. After a few years of disappearance, she didn't know Olivia's current situation and didn't dare get too close.

"How have you been these past few years? I heard you got to know Megan, but she seems to be in trouble lately, abandoned by Joseph," Olivia said casually.

Sarah's mouth opened slightly. "How do you know all this?"

"I know a lot." Olivia laughed. "Since Cassie exposed your plagiarism, your days with Lucas must have been tough."

Sarah said nothing.

"Forget it. Let's not talk about unhappy things," Olivia said with a laugh. "I'm coming back to Whisperlyn City the day after tomorrow. Let's catch up then."

Sarah suddenly felt anxious. "You're coming to Whisperlyn City? Here is Joseph and Cassie's territory."

"I'm coming back to deal with them," Olivia said calmly. "Don't worry. I wouldn't come back without a solid plan. Joseph may be powerful, but globally, he's nothing. For some people, destroying him is easy."

"Olivia."

"Remember, don't tell anyone about me. We're friends, right? I've always remembered that you want to marry into the Nelson family and secure your position as Mrs. Nelson. I can help you with that," Olivia said meaningfully.

Sarah gasped, knowing Olivia could be ruthless.

"Olivia, welcome back. I'll treat you when you get here," Sarah said with a smile.

Nighttime.

At the club.

When Lucas hit the pool ball hard with the cue stick, the other balls on the table clattered loudly.

Michael even stepped back a few steps, afraid the balls might bounce out and hit his face.
