Chapter 1191 Bernice Is Too Vicious
"Alright, I'll give you the money," Bernice cut him off.
"Hurry up," Hunter said smugly. This trick always worked for him.
"Come upstairs with me. I don't have the money on me," Bernice said, heading upstairs.
Hunter followed right away.
Lucas, hands in his pockets, saw Hunter trailing Bernice as he walked in. His eyes narrowed, and he followed, but he was too late. Bernice had already taken Hunter upstairs.
Inside, Bernice shut the door, picked up a fruit knife, and handed it to Hunter. "Peel an apple for me. I'll get the card."
"Sure," Hunter agreed, eager for the money.
Bernice quickly came back downstairs, pulled a card from her wallet, and tossed it to Hunter. "There's a million dollars on it."
Hunter's eyes lit up. He set the apple and knife aside and pocketed the card. "I knew having you as a daughter wasn't for nothing."
Before he could finish, Bernice swept his legs out from under him, knocking him down.
"How dare you hit me," Hunter said, enraged, getting up to fight back. Bernice smashed a bottle next to his head.
Glass shards splattered on Hunter's face, and he was instantly terrified.
He couldn't imagine what would have happened if the bottle had hit his face.
Hunter swallowed hard, but seeing Bernice's delicate face, he quickly got cocky again. "How dare you hit me?"
Before he could finish, Bernice grabbed a broken piece of the bottle and stabbed his arm. Hunter screamed in pain and struggled, but Bernice dislocated one of his arms. When he resisted again, she dislocated the other.
"Bernice, you're crazy. If you have the guts, kill me. Otherwise, I'll make sure everyone knows what happened today," Hunter said, his face twisted in pain.
"So you're forcing me to kill you?" Bernice raised an eyebrow, her eyes cold and ruthless.
"What are you going to do?" Hunter started to panic. "Don't do anything stupid. Maya and Bruce know I came to see you today."
"Hunter, do you think I'm easy to bully? I'm not the same Bernice anymore. The old Bernice let you bully her because you used to beat her when she was a child. She was afraid of you, but I'm not," Bernice said, standing up and stomping hard on his fingers.
Hunter screamed in pain, and Bernice stuffed a cloth into his mouth.
"People should know when to be content," Bernice said with a low, cold laugh. "When I was a child, you wouldn't even pay a penny for my tuition. You didn't even want to see me. You betrayed my mom and married someone else. I worked hard to get to where I am today, and you keep threatening me for Bruce, buying him a house and a car, and starting a company for him."
The real Bernice had long been dead. Now, she was Nina.
Bernice had been a soft-hearted and introverted girl. Although Nina had taken over Bernice's body, all of Bernice's memories had entered Nina's mind.
Nina had already died once. She endured a brutal life in prison and later worked in a mine.
By her twenties, her heart had turned to stone.
Bernice bent down and pulled a phone from Hunter's pocket, which was recording.
Hunter's face went pale.
"You really are a piece of work. Recording our conversation to catch me slipping, planning to post it online if I don't obey," Bernice said coldly, kicking him away. "I'll keep the phone. Today was just a warning. No more money. If you try this again, Bruce will lose an arm or a leg. Don't doubt me. Now get out."
Hunter hid his anger, nodded carefully, and limped to the door.
When he opened it, a tall figure stood there.
Lucas, with his refined looks, exuded nobility. Hunter's eyes lit up. "You must be Bernice's boyfriend. Let me tell you, she's vicious. I'm her dad, and she dislocated my arms and beat me."
Lucas looked down, his deep eyes examining Hunter.
Earlier, he had seen Hunter walk in perfectly fine. Now, Hunter had cuts on his face, limp arms, and bruised, swollen hands.
A strange light flickered in Lucas's eyes.
"It seems you didn't take my words seriously," Bernice said, walking over with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
It was the first time Lucas had seen Bernice like this. He asked, "Did you do this?"
"Yes, she did," Hunter said, trembling. "She's too cruel. I'm her dad. I just asked her for some money because I'm sick."
"So you thought I was joking," Bernice said coldly, stepping forward. Hunter was so scared he ran down the stairs, not even waiting for the elevator.
Bernice turned to go back into the room, but Lucas stopped the door with one hand.
"Bernice, you're quite bold," Lucas said, looking at her. She was wearing a white shirt and gray casual pants, but he couldn't forget she had just beaten her dad. Such a ruthless woman was rare.
"It's none of your business," Bernice said, looking up with disdain.
She was in a foul mood, especially facing Lucas, who had sent her to prison.
Lucas's face darkened, his pupils contracting. "Very well, Bernice. No one has ever dared to speak to me like that."
"I'm in a bad mood right now," Bernice said coldly.
Lucas was taken aback, then laughed as if he had heard a joke.
Wasn't that something he should be saying? For the first time, a woman dared to speak to him like that.
"So, stay away from me," Bernice continued.
"Bernice, are you asking for trouble?" Lucas said, gritting his teeth. "You're an artist under my company, yet you beat your dad. Do you think he won't call the police? Or do you think he would be stupid enough to be threatened by you?"
"Of course, I know he won't be threatened." Bernice walked back into the room and picked up a fruit knife from the table.
