Chapter 1175 Joey, Let's Be Together Forever
"Suicide?" Joseph looked at Cassie, seeing the shock in her eyes. "How did he do it?"
"He ran into a wall," the officer said quietly. "He hit it hard, clearly not wanting to survive. He died on the way to the hospital. We hoped to get more info from him, but that's not happening now."
"Did anyone visit him before?" Joseph hit the point.
"Yes, Penelope."
Joseph fell silent, piecing things together.
"We plan to question Penelope," the officer added.
"Alright." Joseph hung up, frowning deeply.
Cassie put on her coat, surprised by the turn of events. "If he's dead, the clues linking David to the crime are gone."
"It's my fault," Joseph said coldly. "I should've known some would use Hugo to threaten Marcus."
For someone like Marcus, only Hugo could be a threat.
He could use Hugo to make Marcus confess, but others could use Hugo to keep him quiet.
"Forget it. You'd never harm a child, but David is different. He's ruthless," Cassie said, gripping his hand.
"You think David did it?" Joseph asked.
"If not him, Marcus has other partners," Cassie said quietly. "Anyone involved with Marcus isn't ordinary."
Joseph stroked her hair, his good mood ruined.
He had hoped to get her to divorce David soon.
"Cassie, don't worry. I'll have Lucas pressure him. If David wants the Wit Group to survive, he'll sign the divorce papers quickly. Otherwise, I'll leave him with nothing." Joseph's eyes flashed with determination.
Now that David had lost the Neya City hitmen and Marcus's backing, dealing with him would be easy.
"Forget it. Let's have breakfast," Cassie said, resting her chin on his shoulder. "I brought you breakfast; it's on the desk outside. It's probably cold by now."
"You made it?" Joseph's eyes lit up.
"Yes," she replied lazily.
"Thank you," Joseph said, overjoyed.
For him, nothing was better than eating the breakfast Cassie made.
"Joseph," Cassie said nonchalantly. "I got up at six to make it."
"So I just showed my gratitude," Joseph said, glancing at the bed with a meaningful look.
Cassie froze, then blushed and pinched his waist. "Pervert."
"Oh, I won't tease you anymore," Joseph said, pulling her into his arms and kissing her ear. "I have news. I've appointed Joel as the new leader of Dragon. You can go to him for any tasks. Spencer and Peter are injured and won't recover soon. I also think Olivia knows the people around you, which is why they were targeted as soon as she returned."
Cassie was touched. Spencer and Peter's injuries had been a worry, and Joseph had just solved her immediate problem. "I didn't expect Joel to be the new leader of Dragon. She's so young and a woman."
"What's wrong with being a woman? Don't underestimate them. Look at you; aren't you smarter and more rational than me?" Joseph kissed her cheek. "Joel may be young, but she's loyal to you."
Cassie looked surprised. "Didn't you always worry about Athena being too loyal to Megan?"
"It's different. You bore my children and are willing to forgive me. I'm happy to put you in the most important position," Joseph said, taking a golden token from the drawer and placing it in her hand. "This is the new Dragon token. It can mobilize all Dragon personnel."
"Why are you giving this to me? I don't want it," Cassie said, pushing it away.
"Take it. Even without the token, everyone will listen to me," Joseph said, holding her lovingly. "I will expand Dragon's influence so that you and I have the same status."
Cassie was moved. She looked up and kissed his lips. "Joey, let's be together forever, okay?"
"Fine, I will be with you forever," Joseph said, helping her get dressed and then taking her out for breakfast.
After he finished eating, Cassie prepared to leave. "I'm taking Sophia and Oliver to the Hernandez House. This afternoon, I plan to find them a new kindergarten."
"No need. I've already found a kindergarten for them at the foot of Snowford Evergreen. It's for the children of Madison's political figures, next to the armed police and special forces. Sophia and Oliver will be absolutely safe."
Cassie was stunned. She had heard of that kindergarten. "It's not a place you can get into just with money."
"I asked Derek for help," Joseph said.
"That's good. If Sophia and Oliver can go there, I won't have to worry about Olivia causing trouble for them."
In the morning, after Cassie took Sophia and Oliver to the Hernandez House, she went to the hospital to visit Mabel in the afternoon.
After leaving the hospital, she went to a nearby supermarket.
Moving to a new place required a lot of new items.
She first bought some toys and pajamas for Sophia and Oliver, then went to the men's clothing store on the fourth floor.
"Could you please take down that suit from the mannequin in the window for me to see?" As soon as Cassie finished speaking to the clerk, a surprised voice came from behind her. "Cassie."
Cassie turned around to see Everett walking in. His god-like, meticulously sculpted face instantly captured the attention of all the store clerks.
"Everett, what are you doing here?" Cassie raised her eyebrows in surprise.
After that late-night snack in Silverwood, she thought she would never see Everett again.
"I came to Whisperlyn City this morning. I didn't expect to run into you this afternoon. What a coincidence," Everett said, his voice sounding magnetic.
"Yes," Cassie said, equally surprised. "Are you here to buy clothes too?"
