Chapter 606

The moment Joseph departed, Megan found herself alone in the room. With a surge of anger, she pounded her fists against the soft fabric of the bed, her tears flowing freely.

She had never anticipated that her hypnotic control over Joseph, compelling him to love her, would never allow for intimacy between them. On the occasions when she had tried to push their relationship further, he had recoiled in disgust.

For three and a half years, Megan had been living this torturous existence, teetering on the edge of sanity.

Just as she felt she could bear no more, the shrill ring of her phone sliced through the silence. An unknown number flashed on the screen.

Megan, in her frustration, dismissed the call without a second thought. However, within a minute, her phone buzzed again, this time with an incoming photo. The image showed Megan, clad in a bikini, perched on the lap of a middle-aged man. His features were rough, dark stubble lining his mouth, tattoos adorning his body and arms, and a large belly protruding from his shirt. Megan, in contrast, was captured mid-laugh, a sweet smile on her face.

A shiver ran down Megan's spine as she stared at the photo, a chilling reminder of her darkest nightmares.

The phone rang again, jolting Megan from her thoughts. As she answered, a man's eerie voice echoed from the other end. "Hehe, Megan, I didn't expect that after leaving Austin, you would actually marry the wealthiest man in Madison. What do you think Joseph would do if he found out about how you desperately seduced us before?"

Megan's face drained of color. "Rex Bluster, you're not dead?"

"Hehe, of course I'm not dead. If I were dead, no one would know how despicable you are," Rex retorted, his voice filled with venom. "You really went all out. Fortunately, I wasn't there that day, otherwise the police would have caught me and the others."

"I don't know what you're talking about," Megan stammered, struggling to keep her panic in check.

"Don't you remember?" Rex's voice held a sinister edge. "Then I'll just have to talk to Joseph about how shamelessly you voluntarily served us four brothers when we captured you back then. Tsk, I still remember that scene vividly. I even have a few photos on hand. Do you want me to show them to Joseph, let him see how wild his girlfriend can be?"

"Shut up, what do you want?" Megan's voice trembled slightly. The mere thought of her past unbearable.

"I haven't really thought about it. I've just been a little short on money lately..."

"How much do you want?" Megan interrupted him, her impatience evident.

"Just give me a billion. Also, I've been quite bored in Madison lately, why not keep me company?" Rex's grin was audible through the phone.

"Enough, you don't deserve it."

"Haha, I've experienced it before. Alright, Megan, stop pretending. Others might not know who you really are, but I do," Rex chuckled. "Hurry up and come. I'll satisfy you. Don't try to play any tricks, if anything happens to me, your photos will end up in Joseph's hands."

"Fine, I'll come." Megan's voice was filled with resignation. She had no choice but to agree.

Megan had never expected that Rex had actually survived all those years. She had thought that her past was buried, never to be unearthed.

"I'll be waiting for you."

After ending the call, Megan quickly changed her clothes and made her way downstairs. Joseph stood by the French window, a glass of red wine cradled in his slender, immaculate hand. His tall, handsome figure was reflected in the glass, a sight that could make any woman's heart flutter.

A pang of regret pierced Megan's heart. Even on a night like this, the sight of such a man could stir up dangerous desires.
