Chapter 138

"Cassie also anxiously glanced at Joseph Hernandez only to see him unbothered, as if the insult wasn’t directed at him.

""I don't waste my time talking to trash.""

Joseph's icy gaze shifted as he turned to Cassie, ""Come inside with me.""

He walked toward the courtroom and Cassie hastened to follow.

Walter gave Alexander a mild, seemingly harmless smile, ""Speak now while you still can, I suppose.""

That innocent smile sent an inexplicable chill down Alexander's spine. ""Helen, I'm not in trouble, am I?""

Helen looked at him softly, ""Don't worry, your uncle has taken care of the evidence for you. Just testify in court today and that's it.""

""If you're scared, you better learn to keep a lower profile.""

Robert scoffed disapprovingly. Truth be told, he didn't think much of Alexander; it was only because Helen favored him and Alexander always had a way of ingratiating himself with others.

"" Don't worry, he's all talk. Never seen his like around Madison before.""

Olivia Brooks frowned, ""I've seen him. He's tight with Noah Collins. Last time, he was the one who kicked me, Charlotte Jones, and Sarah Randall out of that private restaurant. You might want to think before you speak next time, Alexander.""
""What? He's friends with Noah Collins?!"" Alexander was taken aback, but quickly regained his composure, ""No big deal. If he dared to represent Cassie in court today, Sam will make sure to give him a run for his money. So what if he has Noah Collins backing him up? He's no Collins family member anyway.""

Olivia Brooks thought about it and had to agree, but the man's presence just seemed so commanding, like someone who stood at the apex of a pyramid—a type of person she'd never encountered in Madison before.

As she pondered, the elevator doors slid open, revealing David and Arthur Lewis stepping out together.

The moment Arthur Lewis laid eyes on Olivia Brooks, he seethed with anger. ""Olivia Brooks, you deceitful woman. I can't believe I was tricked by someone like you. I must have been blind!""

""Arthur Lewis, watch your language!"" Robert scolded. ""It was you who wanted to attach yourself to our Olivia. It's a pity, considering your current status, you're not nearly good enough for her.""

Arthur Lewis looked at Robert and his wife and suddenly let out a laugh.

""You always went on about how you watched me grow up as if I were your own son. I actually believed that once. Olivia Brooks truly is the spitting image of her parents.""

Olivia Brooks displayed her impatience. ""Don't act like you're some victim here. You only got engaged to me in hopes of getting your hands on Height Company's inheritance.""

""You..."" Arthur Lewis's face turned red with anger, about to explode, when David interjected sharply, ""This is a courthouse, not a place for personal disputes.""

With a sullen frown, Arthur Lewis shut his mouth. However, as he and David were about to enter the courthouse, he turned back to look at them, ""Alexander, do you know who Cassie's attorney is today?""

Alexander paused, then scoffed, ""Just some nobody. Saw him a while ago.""

""Ha, your family really has no clue."" Arthur Lewis threw a mocking glance before walking away.

The Brooks family and Alexander were left feeling uneasy.

""Come on, Cassie has neither the money nor the connections. Could she really hire someone better than Felix?"" Robert spoke confidently and led the way inside to find seats.

They had to be present in the courtroom today as witnesses."
