Chapter 1089 The Medicine Cassie Bought for Me
Lucas continued, "You should be grateful I didn't say you might never use it."
"Shut up," Joseph snapped, unable to bear it any longer.
"Alright. Michael invited me out tonight, and I agreed. Do you want to come? Are you really planning to cut ties with him forever?" Lucas suggested.
"I don't want to hear from him," Joseph said coldly, "I'm afraid I might end up hitting him."
"He's pretty pitiful now. Ever since he got kicked out of the Jude family, his friends rarely talk to him. Megan is always busy, and he often comes to me." Lucas sighed sympathetically.
"Without the Jude family, do you think Megan would be with him? The Ocean Blue group means nothing to Megan. Just wait. She might have already cheated on him with several people," Joseph said mockingly.
"That would be great. Michael'll see the truth, and we can reconcile." Lucas joked. "Weren't you just like Michael before? He'll eventually see Megan for who she is, just like you did. Don't always blame him."
"That doesn't stop me from cursing him. As long as he doesn't cut ties with Megan, I won't have anything to do with him." Joseph hung up mercilessly.
In the office, Cassie opened the file Joseph had given her and read through it carefully.
Not long after, Coco knocked and entered. "Ms. Brooks, David from the Wit Group just held a press conference. It's live right now."
"Let me see it," Cassie said, finding the live stream.
In the video, David bowed and apologized, his eyes red with regret, and his voice choked with emotion. "I apologize to the public for the negative impact I've caused."
A reporter asked, "You haven't wronged us, but I think you owe Cassie an apology. You said she was having an affair with Joseph, but you were sleeping with Lola every day. And you even assaulted Cassie. Don't you think you're terrifying?"
"I didn't want to be like this." David suddenly covered his eyes and started crying.
At that moment, Kathleen rushed out and hysterically yelled at the reporters. "Why are you blaming David? He's the real victim here. Three years ago, he lost a kidney to save Cassie. He loves her so much he risked his life, but now he's being scolded."
The reporters were shocked. "Is that true?"
"Of course it is. Ever since David lost a kidney, his health has been poor. The pressure from Cassie's situation was too much for him, and he had no outlet. Lola has always liked him and seduced him, which led to this," Kathleen cried out.
She paused and then continued crying. "My son, Arthur, was also ruined by Cassie. He was her ex-boyfriend, but even after she married David, she kept in touch with him. A few days ago, Arthur had a car accident on his way to see her and died. Cassie, you ruined the Foster family. Poor Kayla, my daughter-in-law, she's pregnant."
Cassie saw many people on the screen starting to curse.
[I've heard of Arthur. He's very handsome. I think he dated Cassie when they were in school.]
[No wonder David seems a bit deranged in the videos. Cassie drove him to it.]
[Exactly. If I sacrificed everything for Cassie, even losing a kidney, and she kept betraying me, I'd go crazy, too.]
[I think Cassie is very manipulative. David gave everything for her, and she still tried to blackmail him with secret recordings.]
[The Foster family is so pitiful, and Kayla is too, especially since she's pregnant.]
"Ms. Brooks." Coco looked at Cassie worriedly. "David is so shameless."
"He's been shameless for a long time." Cassie looked at the documents in her hand, grateful that Joseph had given them to her in time.
Otherwise, it would have been hard for her to recover from this.
"Go buy two boxes of cold medicine and send them to the Hernandez Group," Cassie said, picking up her phone, "I'll transfer the money to you."
"Sorry?" Coco was confused.
"Buy medicine." Cassie tapped the table. "Joseph has a cold."
Coco looked exasperated. "Ms. Brooks, at a time like this, you're still buying him medicine."
"Just go." Cassie didn't want to hear anymore.
At the Hernandez Group, after a manager walked out of the CEO's offic, Nathaniel immediately came in with a box of medicine. "Mr. Hernandez."
Joseph looked up from his laptop, frowning. "Why did you bring so much medicine?"
Nathaniel smiled and explained, "I didn't buy it. Ms. Brooks had Coco send it over."
Joseph was stunned, his eyes lighting up. "Really?"
"Yes, it was just delivered." Nathaniel wanted to suggest that Joseph take the medicine suitable for his condition.
But before he could finish, Joseph had already opened a bottle of medicine and drank it.
He looked like he was drinking a beverage, and after finishing, he smiled with satisfaction. "Not bad."
Nathaniel was dumbfounded. Before he could react, Joseph opened another bottle of antiviral medicine and started taking it.
Nathaniel watched as Joseph took several different kinds of medicine and quickly said, "Mr. Hernandez, you don't need to take all of them. There are ten boxes here. No one takes medicine like this."
"It's the first time Cassie has bought me medicine. I can't waste her effort," Joseph said as he tried each type of medicine.
Nathaniel was speechless.
Joseph, in love, was like a fool.
After leaving, Nathaniel called Cassie. "Ms. Brooks, why did you buy so much cold medicine for Mr. Hernandez? He took all of it."
"It's good that he took it all," Cassie said, "Taking medicine will help him recover faster."
