Chapter 1047 Who Hit You

"We all know how exhausted Mommy used to be taking care of us. When I had a fever, you had to work and take care of us at the same time, and you couldn't even sleep at night," Sophia said sadly.

"Yeah, it was tiring at times, but seeing you all made it worth it," Cassie said with great comfort.

Oliver, sitting in the back seat, fell into deep silence after hearing this.

He thought Sophia had a point.

If he didn't let Joseph take care of them, wouldn't that be letting Joseph off too easily?

Sophia placed her small hand on his shoulder. "Oliver, we should still let Joseph take us out to play often. That way, he won't have the chance to get close to other women. We need to make sure he never has a wife and stays lonely for the rest of his life. That's the best punishment for him."

"Your strategy is not bad." Oliver nodded seriously, for once agreeing with Sophia.

Cassie was helpless.

She noticed that Sophia had become more cunning lately, which might be a good thing, as it would ensure that she wouldn't suffer losses in the future.

When they arrived at the villa, she got out of the car and happened to see Aiden sending Margaret and Paul out.

Margaret and Paul didn't look happy, and Paul angrily said, "Aiden, if you hadn't sold your shares to Henry, the Chapman Group wouldn't be in this mess. You need to take responsibility."

Aiden sneered. "Why don't you blame Luna for marrying Felix? Didn't you treat Felix like a treasure? You believed everything Felix said and even let his assistant support Luna. Now, the Chapman Group is controlled by Felix and Henry."

Paul's face turned blushed with embarrassment. As Cassie returned, he immediately turned his attention to her. "Cassie, you're just in time. Now that you're married to David, ask David to help the Chapman Group."

Cassie was baffled. Aiden walked over and said, "Cassie, don't listen to him. Felix and Henry have hollowed out the Chapman Group. The Chapman family is already in decline, but your grandpa refuses to accept reality."

Paul was so angry that he was trembling.

Margaret sighed. "That was your dad's hard work, Aiden. Can you think of a way?"

"Mom, ever since Atlas set me up and you all still sided with them, my heart has been dead," Aiden said coldly, "Cassie advised you not to agree to form an investment company with the Chamberlains, but you didn't listen. Now, the Chapman family is losing money while the Chamberlain family is making money. The Chamberlains are not kind-hearted. Otherwise, why would they harm the Hernandezs after the Hernandezs helped them so much?"

Margaret murmured, "Are we really going to give up on the Chapman Group?"

"Did you have the ability to persevere? Now, the Chamberlains want to kick the Chapmans out of the Chapmans Group, and you can't do anything about it. Dad, you're getting old, and your abilities are limited. I think it's time for you to retire." Aiden sighed and walked into the villa, ignoring Margaret and Paul.

Cassie quickly led Oliver and Sophia inside. Not long after, they heard the sound of Margaret and Paul leaving in their car.

"Dad, is the Chapman Group in bad shape?" Cassie asked.

"Yes, your grandpa wanted my help, but I refused." Aiden sneered. "They think of me when they need something. Otherwise, it's all about Atlas. Now Atlas and Luna have been kicked out of the Chapman Group by Felix. They schemed all their lives, only to benefit the Chamberlain family in the end. Two fools."

"The Chamberlain family that swallowed the Chapman Group is probably even harder to deal with." Cassie sighed. "Luna has lost her value and will probably be divorced by Felix."

"I heard Felix hasn't been home for half a month." Cassie frowned. Felix had been pursuing Laura before. If he divorced Luna, he would definitely want to marry Laura.

"Forget it. The Chapman family's affairs have nothing to do with us anymore. Let's not get involved," Aiden said, turning to play with Oliver and Sophia.

Cassie watched them, worried about the injury on her face.

She had planned to hide until it healed, but now she couldn't avoid it.

She always wore a mask, lying that she had a cold, but it was hard to hide during mealtime.

"Cassie, are you going to wear a mask while eating? Oliver and Sophia aren't that fragile. It's okay to take off your mask," Aiden said.

"Dad, I'll just take my food and eat on the side," Cassie said, getting up to get some food.

Aiden looked at her for a moment, then suddenly signaled to Sophia.

Sophia, sitting next to Cassie, quickly took the opportunity to pull off Cassie's mask, revealing her swollen face to everyone.

"Mommy, who hit you?" Oliver stood up, his eyes filled with rage.

"Mommy, does it hurt?" Sophia's eyes welled up with tears.

Aiden was also furious. "I knew something was wrong. You were trying to hide it from us. Tell me, who hit you?"

"Don't get upset. I just had a dispute with someone and accidentally got slapped. I've already avenged myself, really. I hit back twice as hard," Cassie said, pretending to be indifferent, "Stop staring at me. I know I look ugly. Let's eat."

Aiden looked at her for a while, then lowered his head to serve food to Oliver and Sophia.

After dinner, Aiden called Cassie upstairs and said earnestly, "Cassie, tell me the truth. Who hit you? I can tell it was a man. A woman wouldn't hit like that."

Cassie's eyes welled up, and she lowered her head. "It was David."

"What?" Aiden was shocked.

He never expected David to do such a thing.

"Bastard," Aiden said, slamming his fist on the table, "He dared to hit you. I really misjudged him. I thought he was a loving and devoted man. Cassie, I'm going to settle this with him. I didn't protect you well before, but I won't let anyone bully you this time."

"Dad, don't go." Cassie quickly stopped him. "I was at fault, too."

"Anyway, he shouldn't have hit you so hard. You have been married not long ago," Aiden said, heartbroken.

"Dad, I did something wrong and provoked him. But after this, I realized we might not be suitable for each other. I want to divorce him," Cassie said, feeling much easier after saying it.

Aiden was stunned. "You haven't been married long. If you divorce again, this will be your second divorce."
