Chapter 346

The next morning, as she woke up, she instinctively grabbed her phone to check the trending topics.

Today's hot topic was "Mr. Hernandez and his young girlfriend picking strawberries."
The photo showed Luna, looking up at Joseph as she held a uniquely-shaped strawberry in her hand. Joseph, handsome as ever, gazed at her, the sunset casting a romantic glow over their faces.
She suddenly remembered what he had said the night before: "Doesn't this strawberry resemble us?"
How ridiculous!
He could say such things to another woman while holding the strawberry Luna had picked without a hint of shame.
Well, why would he feel ashamed? If a man could pick strawberries with his girlfriend for a third party, his thick skin was truly admirable.

"What are you looking at?"
Joseph, who had been cuddling her in sleep, leaned in to glance at her screen.
The photo seemed to jolt him, and he quickly said, "Don't get the wrong idea. Grandma forced me to go with her yesterday."
"Sure, it's fine."
Cassie replied calmly and sweetly.
Joseph's handsome face tensed as he looked at her complexly. "What do you mean?"
Cassie didn't understand his sudden displeasure, yet she spoke frankly, "She's your girlfriend. It's normal for you two to go strawberry picking together. I won't get jealous. I know my place."
A place just for his amusement, a relationship concealed in the shadows.
Joseph watched her for a moment before suddenly laughing.
Her understanding nature sent a chill down his spine.
She was so composed because she didn't care about him, right?
And there he was, foolishly worrying she had gotten the wrong idea, hastily explaining himself.
"Alright, Cassie. You're really generous, aren't you?" Joseph scoffed coldly, tossing the covers aside and heading to the walk-in closet to change.
Two minutes later, he slammed the door as he left, the sound echoing as if to ensure everyone knew he was angry.
Cassie needed clarification. Did he expect her to make a scene with tears and jealousy? It was he who had clearly stated that Luna was his rightful partner, and she was merely there for his nights.
Once, she would have been jealous, but now, all that remained was her hatred for him.
Her heart had turned to ice, no longer beating for him.

...

Upon arriving at the office, Joseph immediately called Mildred.
"Did you take the photo?" Only someone from the Hernandez family could have done so in their estate.
"Oh dear, how's grandma's photography skills?" Mildred chuckled, "Didn't I capture a perfect match?"
"Grandma," Joseph raised his voice, irritation seeping through, and Mildred fired back even louder.
"What are you yelling about? Are you trying to scare me to death?" her voice was booming, "What's the big deal? You're my grandson. Can't I take a picture?"
"You shouldn't have sent my picture to the media," Joseph said through gritted teeth, rubbing his temples. "Wasn't last night clear enough?"

"And what if I did? Are you going to eat me or something?" Mildred snarked back, unfazed.

Mildred retorted, "Have you yet to see the buzz online? Everyone's saying you and Luna make such a striking couple, swooning over how you two are #relationshipgoals. They're all praising you for being handsome and treating your girlfriend right. I'm thinking of having PR build up your 'devoted hubby' image."

"I'm the CEO of a company, not some celeb trying to break into the spotlight." Joseph snorted in amusement, his patience running thin before he decisively hung up.
