Both Laura and Cassie dared not speak nor had the energy to do so.

"Besides, during those three years abroad, we relied on each other. Laura is like family to me now. And don't forget, three years ago, you used Nathan's situation to threaten Laura. Joseph fell silent all of a sudden.

"I misspoke. It was all Michael's fault. If it weren't for Michael's meddling, Ken wouldn't have targeted Laura." Joseph immediately changed his tune.
Cassie looked at Joseph helplessly, truly admiring how shameless he could be.

Cassie reached out and hugged Joseph's neck. Joseph lowered his head and gently kissed Cassie.
Laura, separated by half a curtain, blushed and turned her face away. Did she have no shame? Weren't there people nearby?
Just as she was thinking, Michael called, "I just saw the news and heard that Ken is causing you trouble! Are you okay?"
"You have no right to ask me. Our cooperation was confirmed this morning. How did Ken find out so quickly?" Laura said impatiently.
Michael awkwardly fell silent for a moment and then said softly, "I ran into Ken this afternoon and accidentally mentioned it to him."
Laura's mouth twitched, reprimanded, "It wasn't accidental. You wanted to undermine Ken, deliberately showing off."
