Chapter 145

"Cassie nodded, though she would have done so even without his directive.

To show her gratitude, she prepared all his favorite dishes for dinner.

While the food simmered, she glanced at the trending news.

Just great, Height Company was taking a beating online. Even though Robert escaped investigation this time, netizens the public refused to believe that as Chairman, he could be innocent.

Boycott campaigns against Height Company had already gone viral.

Height Company was doomed!

If there was any confusion about Cassie's alleged embezzlement before, now there was just as much sympathy for her being framed.

Her social media following had surged from a few million to over ten million, rivaling that of popular influencers.

After finishing the meal, the housekeeper marvelled at the table spread with six delicious dishes. ""So it's true, Mrs. Hernandez, your cooking is exceptional. No wonder Hernandez never wants to eat what I make.""

Cassie paused, realizing that although Joseph never mentioned it, he had grown accustomed to her cooking.

""Next time, I'll show you how I prepare the dishes, so if I'm not around, you can cook for him,"" she told the housekeeper.

""Of course, but why wouldn't you be around? You're married, it's meant to last a lifetime,"" the housekeeper said with a laugh, casually dismissing the implications as she continued cleaning.
Cassie felt trapped and helpless now that the lawsuit was over. It meant she had to focus even more on making money. She couldn't afford to have her life indefinitely tangled up with Joseph Hernandez.

After cooking, the housekeeper was busy elsewhere, so Cassie begrudgingly went upstairs to fetch a fresh set of men's lounge clothes for him before heading to the indoor pool to call him to dinner.

In the heated pool, a figure swam with the agile grace of a dolphin. Cassie stood at the edge, momentarily entranced. The swimmers she had seen before were professionals, yet his swimming was nearly on par with theirs. She hadn't expected him to be such a strong swimmer.

Like a leopard bursting from the water, Joseph emerged near her, his wet, jet-black hair clinging to his forehead. Water droplets trailed down his face, over the bridge of his noble nose, crimson lips, and along his collarbone...

Cassie caught her breath. How could a man who ate so heartily still maintain such an impressive physique?

Turning her head to hide her blush, she said, ""Dinner's ready. You should come eat. Here are your clothes.""

She set the clothes down, intending to make a swift exit.

Joseph, with a swift push of his hands against the ground, leaped effortlessly onto the poolside. Clad only in swim trunks, his muscular thighs and honey-toned skin glistened with water, reminiscent of Michelangelo's David.

""Dry me off,"" he commanded, wiping water from his face.

Cassie jumped, taken aback. ""No... I don't think that's appropriate. You should do it yourself.""

""I'm tired,"" he claimed with an air of exhaustion.

Cassie was puzzled. Tired? He had been swimming with such vigor just moments ago.

""Hurry up, it's chilly,"" he frowned, urging her. ""I just won your lawsuit. Is this small task too much to ask?""

""I'm on it, right away,"" she quickly conceded.

Approaching him, she unfolded the towel and began drying his hair. He was so tall that she had to stand on tiptoe, her upper body nearly pressed against his chest, unaware of the delicate scent emanating from her and engulfing them both.

Frustrated by his height, which made it impossible to reach his back, Cassie moved around behind him to continue drying, inadvertently pressing against him again.

Joseph just stood there in silence..."
