Chapter 321

"Cassie couldn't help but scoff at the audacity. How dare he still have the nerve to contact her?

She immediately deleted the text, but to her surprise, Joseph sent another message moments later — a video clip of her last dance in a bunny costume.
Cassie clenched her teeth and turned to David. ""I just remembered I have to check in with my grandma. Don't bother dropping me off.""

""Alright, give me a call when you get back,"" David advised before watching her leave, his handsome face suddenly clouding with a grim expression.

Ten minutes later, Cassie found Joseph's black sports car parked at the curb. As she got in, she looked around furtively as if she were up to no good.

""What? Scared David might see you?"" Joseph's hand was resting on the steering wheel, a cigarette dangling from his fingers, the smoke swirling around his sharply attractive features, laced with sarcasm.

Cassie despised him now more than ever. Her face was etched with distaste. ""Joseph, have you forgotten that not long ago, you made quite the entrance with your girlfriend and her mother at your side? Now, everyone knows you're Luna's man. If someone sees me getting into your car, they'd assume I'm trying to seduce you.""

""Are you jealous?"" Joseph shot her a piercing look.

Cassie gave a mocking laugh. Her voice was filled with agitation. ""I have no interest in being jealous of you. What do you want from me? If it's nothing, I'm out of here."" Her impatience was evident like someone reluctantly clocking in for an unwelcome shift.

Joseph had been holding back for days, and in that moment, his frustration erupted. He forcefully grabbed her wrist, dragging her into his piercing gaze with a sneer. ""Now that David's back, you can hardly stand the sight of me. Cassie, do you believe I can banish you and David from New York if you don't drop your hostility?""

""Enough!"" Cassie jerked her hand away. Her eyes were reddening with fury. ""Wasn't it enough humiliating me earlier? Or do you need to see me dead to be happy?""

""Would you die? Would a woman like you willingly accept death?"" Joseph's left hand gripped her cheek, his thin lips crueler than usual.

A loathing filled Cassie's eyes. ""Joseph, I hate you. You're the most foolish man I've ever met.""

""Say that one more time, Cassie. I dare you."" Joseph was enraged. He tightened his grip on her neck, his face as cold as winter frost.

""Am I wrong? You fancy someone like Luna; isn't that blindness?"" Cassie yelled, ""The Jayden family is vicious at heart, yet you side with them. You're nothing but an enabler. To think that I ever loved you makes me sick.""

""Haha, you loved me?"" Joseph scoffed as if he'd heard a joke. ""Don't insult the word 'love.'""

Cassie paused. There was a bitter smile on her face.

""Cassie, don't try to provoke me; I know exactly what you're thinking,"" Joseph said with a steely gaze. ""As long as I'm around, you'll never take down the Jayden family, and Vera and Leo's marriage will remain intact.""

Cassie glared at him fiercely, her chest heaving with indignant breaths.
Joseph took a drag on his cigarette and gently exhaled, the smoke cloaking his brooding expression. ""If some other woman is willing to carry my child, only then might I consider leaving her.""

After speaking, he undid the button on his shirt beneath his collarbone, gazing out the window. It was the biggest hint and concession he could muster for her—his final offer.

Cassie paused, confused by his words. What did he mean? Was she expected to find another woman and deliver her to him? The mere thought of him with someone else left her breathless from the pain.

""I see. Can I go now?"" she inquired after a moment of defeated consideration."
