Chapter 908 Cassie, Don't Go
Cassie had personally said that she no longer loved him. Joseph's eyes stung and turned red. It turned out that Cassie had given him a chance, and he had once moved her.
But because of that night on the mountain, when he had left her without hesitation, he had missed it. Joseph thought, 'Joseph, how deeply have you hurt the once-loving Cassie for the sake of Megan?'
"Joseph, I know you won't give up on Megan. From now on, we are opponents," Cassie said, pulling her hand away and leaving without looking back.
"Cassie, don't go." Joseph wanted to chase after her again.
But the wound from his surgery had reopened, and blood seeped through his hospital gown. Every step he took felt like a knife stabbing into his wound, and his face turned as pale as a sheet from the pain. Yet, he still wanted to tell Cassie that he didn't want to be her opponent; he wanted Cassie to be his wife, his girlfriend. He no longer wanted to be involved in Megan's affairs.
But his body wouldn't allow him to go any further. He fell to the ground in pain, and through his blurred vision, he saw Cassie glance back at him from a distance. Her gaze was cold and indifferent; she had no intention of turning back. Then she walked away.
She left. Even though she saw his clothes soaked in blood and saw him on the verge of fainting from the pain, she didn't turn back. She wasn't even anxious, worried, or scared. His eyes reddened again.
"Mr. Hernandez, your wound has reopened." Nathaniel's worried voice echoed in his ears. "Doctor, come quickly."
Soon, someone lifted him onto a bed and took him to the emergency room to have his wound stitched up again. He told the doctor not to give him anesthesia. If the wound hurt more, maybe his heart wouldn't hurt as much.
Cassie bought some food and went back upstairs. Paul had come out of the emergency room and was temporarily out of danger, but he was still unconscious.
Margaret, in a bad mood, warned Aiden. "If you insist on selling the shares, then you are no longer my son, and you don't need to come back to the Chapman family."
Aiden's heart twisted in pain. He didn't answer; he only told the doctor to take good care of Paul and then prepared to leave with Cassie.
Just as they walked out the door, they saw Felix hurrying towards them. When he saw Cassie, a chilling coldness flashed in his eyes.
Felix said, "Aiden, you are being foolish."
Cassie smiled faintly. "My dad is not foolish. But it would help if you worried about yourself. Now that Henry has become the largest shareholder of the Chapman Group, he will definitely insert his team into your newly established investment company."
Felix's face changed. This was his biggest worry. He had originally planned to use this investment company to drain the Chapman family dry. Soon, the Chamberlain family would become the top family in Madison. But he had already investigated Henry, who had also dabbled in finance. Henry would fight for control of the joint venture company.
"Cassie, you did this on purpose," he said through gritted teeth.
Cassie smiled faintly, " Since we have nothing to do with the Chapman Group anymore, Luna can do whatever she wants onward. But let me remind you, Atlas and his daughter may not be able to compete with Henry."
With that, she no longer looked at Felix's face and walked away.
Soon, Luna came out of the ward, looking anxiously at Felix. "Felix, what should we do? I think Aiden is really going to sell this time, and no one can stop him."
Felix thought for a moment and sighed. "We absolutely cannot let Henry become the chairman, nor can we let him have the opportunity to meddle in the Chapman family's affairs. Otherwise, in time, the people of the Chapman family will be completely sidelined by him."
Luna's face turned pale instantly; she had anticipated this situation.
"Henry is very cunning. You are no match for him. It all depends on your father. If he can't win, you and your father...." Felix shook his head. "Just have to go back and get the dividends. You'll only get as much as Henry offers."
"I don't want that." Luna shook her head in fear. "Felix, you're my husband. You must help me. We rise and fall together. Besides, our Chapman family and the Chamberlain family are closely tied. If I lose my position in the Chapman family, it will affect our jointly invested company."
"You don't need to tell me that; I'm worried about the same thing." Felix put his arm around her shoulders. "How about this: I'll arrange for Oscar Reynolds to be your assistant and help you out. How does that sound?"
A hint of hesitation flashed in Luna's eyes. Oscar was Felix's secretary, and she wanted to avoid Felix's people entering the Chapman family.
"Luna, now is the time for us as a couple to stand united against the outside world," Felix said softly. "As your husband, I certainly want your family to be well. I would be very proud. I hope that through this, our fathers can completely control the Chapman family."
"Alright." Luna no longer wavered and nodded immediately.
She believed Felix would help her deal with Henry. After all, she was Felix's wife. What she didn't notice was that, in a place she couldn't see, Felix's eyes gradually turned dark and cold.
After leaving the hospital, Felix immediately summoned Oscar. "Find a way to contact Mr. Ford."
"Mr. Chamberlain, you mean?" Oscar asked.
"Cooperation," Felix said, narrowing his eyes.
Oscar was stunned. "But you don't even know Henry. Will he cooperate with you?"
"As long as the temptation is enough, even opponents can become friends." Felix smiled coldly. "Luna and her father only have some shares in the Chapman family. In conspiracy, they may not be a match for Henry. But Henry is different; he has an international company backing him. If we cooperate, it will be a win-win situation. I've already arranged for you to be by Luna's side. I want you to team up with Henry within two months and make the entire Chapman family ours."
Oscar looked at Felix's handsome face and couldn't help but shiver. The world said Joseph was ruthless, but they didn't know the real ruthlessness lay with the Chamberlain family. Such a person, willing to use even his wife as a stepping stone for power, was truly terrifying.
Nathaniel was reporting to Joseph in the hospital room. "Mr. Hernandez, Miss Brooks came to the hospital because Paul fainted during a meeting and was sent here."
"Was it because Aiden sold the shares?" Joseph asked hoarsely.
"Yes, this matter is already causing a huge stir outside. The entire business community in Madison is shaken." Nathaniel marveled. "The Chapman family is about to undergo a huge change."
"That's good. The Chamberlain family and the Chapman family are closely tied. Felix must have other motives. Cassie leaving this vortex is a safe and wise choice." Joseph's delicate lips formed a pale smile.
Nathaniel was speechless and couldn't help but secretly complain. He thought, 'You and Cassie have already broken up, yet you still talk as if you're her boyfriend.'
