Chapter 1680 Must Take Up This Responsibility

"Mr. Miller, I'm sorry, but because the factory has too much inventory recently, we don't have any space available at the moment."

"Aren't you afraid that the goods might get mixed up during the move?" Elliott said coldly. "What did I tell you before? The glass factory is dangerous. As a manager, you not only need to ensure production but also everyone's safety. If the employees are negligent, they are responsible, but you can't shirk your responsibility either. As a manager, if you can't even guarantee the company's safety, I seriously doubt your capability."

Dino's face turned pale.

"Go back and hand over your current tasks, and temporarily transfer to the production department," Elliott ordered coldly. "Do you have any objections?"

"No objections."

Dino wasn't foolish enough to argue with Elliott; he couldn't afford to lose his job.

Moreover, he didn't dare to think about what would happen if Elliott had been the one injured today. He might not have been able to keep his job at all.

"It hurts so much."

Suddenly, Isadora, lying nearby, let out a painful, restrained cry.

"Bear with it; you have a lot of glass in your leg."

A nurse beside her was using tweezers to remove the glass. "You two, hold her down so she doesn't move."

Seeing Isadora in such a miserable state, Dino felt very uncomfortable and extremely guilty.

When Dino looked up again, he saw Elliott's expressionless hands pressing down on Isadora, and Dino's mouth twitched.

After all, Isadora had risked her life to save Elliott, yet Elliott still looked so indifferent.

At this moment, Elliott could at least say a few comforting words to Isadora.

But Elliott didn't say a word; he just pressed his lips tightly together, with one hand held by Isadora.

After arriving at the hospital, Elliott called the company and asked the HR department to contact Isadora's emergency contact.

An hour later, Isadora finally came out of the emergency room. Her previous clothes were covered in blood, and the nurse had helped her change into clean hospital clothes. However, her face was pale, and her legs and hands were wrapped in bandages.

"Isadora, how did you get hurt?"

A middle-aged couple suddenly rushed in from the doorway. They were dressed in luxurious clothes and wore branded watches, indicating their wealth.

One of the middle-aged women, upon seeing Isadora, immediately teared up. "What happened? How did you get hurt at work?"

Elliott frowned. He remembered seeing this middle-aged couple at a banquet last year. They seemed to be the heads of an investment company, Yosef Penrose.

"Mr. Penrose, so Ms. Penrose is your daughter," Elliott said apologetically. "I'm very sorry. Today, while I was taking Ms. Penrose to inspect the park, an accident happened. When the glass fell towards me, Isadora pushed me away in time, but she got injured by the glass."

Yosef raised his hand, not speaking to Elliott, and looked solemnly at the doctor. "How is my daughter?"

"Her right leg is fractured," the doctor said, flipping through the medical records. "The rest are just flesh wounds, but there are many surface wounds on her leg, some of which required stitches. Scars will definitely remain, but with the advancements in medical cosmetology, there should be ways to remove them."

"My poor daughter, I told you not to work at the Miller Group, but you insisted. We have our own company," Isadora's mother, Thalia Fairchild, said, heartbroken. "Elliott, I don't care. My daughter got hurt at your company, and she saved you. You must take responsibility."

Isadora quickly tugged at Thalia's hand. "Mom, I did it voluntarily."

"Don't speak," Thalia snapped, glaring at her. "If the glass had fallen on your face, your life would be ruined. Even with a leg injury, it will take months to heal. With scars on your leg, you won't be able to wear skirts in the summer, and your future husband will have to accept your injuries."

Isadora shrank back, feeling uncomfortable.

Elliott calmly said, "The company will bear all the compensation, including medical expenses and emotional distress. Additionally, since Ms. Penrose got injured saving me, I will personally compensate her and do my best to find doctors to treat her leg scars. I also owe the Penrose family a favor."

"A favor? Do you think we care about your favor?" Thalia said angrily. "My daughter is priceless, and the Penrose family doesn't need your money."

Elliott was in a difficult position.

He hadn't expected Isadora to be part of the Penrose family. If he had known, he wouldn't have hired her in the first place.

Although he was grateful that Isadora had saved him, he didn't want the situation to become too complicated.

"So, what does the Penrose family want me to do?" Elliott asked directly, not wanting to beat around the bush.

Thalia's eyes flickered, and Yosef said, "We haven't decided yet. Give us a couple of days to think about it."

"Alright," Elliott nodded.

Elliott didn't stay long. There were still matters to handle at the park, so he left first.

Isadora watched him leave, feeling disappointed.

She had saved him, yet he seemed completely indifferent.

Thalia, seeing Isadora's expression, angrily glanced at Yosef. "Why didn't you just say that we don't want compensation, but for him to marry Isadora?"

"If we speak too hastily, it will make our intentions too obvious," Yosef explained.

Isadora was startled. "Mom, Dad, you want Mr. Miller to marry me because of this?"

"Don't you like him? You even went to work as his assistant. Now you've saved him and injured your leg for him. If he doesn't marry you, who will?" Thalia glared at Isadora.

Isadora mumbled, "But you didn't support it before, saying the Miller family had only recently come to Whisperlyn City and had a low status."

"Times have changed. Don't you see that his sister is dating the President's son? The President's family has agreed, and they might get married in the future. Even if they don't, the Miller family will still benefit greatly," Yosef said. "It's clear that the Jude family is supporting the Miller family. Otherwise, how could the Miller family have acquired the best land in the development zone in just a few months? The Miller family even moved here. Elliott has led the Miller Group from a small place like Silverwood to where it is now. He's experienced and capable, much better than the men from the noble families in Whisperlyn City. Didn't you say that Elliott recently went abroad and secured cooperation agreements with several foreign car companies? A person with ability, opportunities, and a strong background will definitely have a place on the global rich list in the future."

"Dad, I've always said he's capable."

Isadora was happy to hear her parents praise the person she secretly admired.
