"Joseph, you and Cassie conspired to make a fool of me," Joseph said angrily, grabbing Liam by the collar. "People like you don't deserve to be Sophia's father."

"Aunt Cassie, what happened to your forehead?" Sophia's voice suddenly rang out. She had somehow run over to Cassie and, upon seeing the injury on her forehead, began to tear up.

As Cassie reached out to hug Sophia, Joseph quickly scooped her up. "You have no right to hold her. Get lost."

It was the first time Sophia had seen such a fierce Joseph. She was stunned for a moment, then burst into tears. "I don't like you being so mean to Aunt Cassie. It's scary. I don't like you anymore."

"Daddy, let's go with Aunt Cassie," Sophia said, reaching out a hand to Cassie.

"Alright, let's go," Cassie said, rubbing Sophia's head as they left the police station with Liam.
Joseph watched them from behind, looking like a family of three.

Joseph's heart ached to the point of suffocation. Why did Sophia misunderstand him so? He wanted to save her, but she didn't appreciate it and even said she didn't like him anymore.
