Chapter 1168 Marcus's Dead End

Marcus was shocked. He didn't expect Mabel to stay so calm and analytical in this situation.

He thought, "No wonder I loved her once. What a shame."

"It's pointless, Marcus. I won't call my dad. He's paralyzed. What can he do to Joseph? The Hernandez Group is under Joseph's control," Mabel sneered.

"If you don't call, I will. I'll let Walter hear you being raped," Marcus snapped, clearly losing it.

He signaled to the kidnappers.

Rafael walked over, rubbing his hands, looking excited. "Really, Mr. Chamberlain?"

"Just don't kill her," Marcus said coldly, watching.

Mabel bit her lip hard.

As Rafael lunged at her and tore her clothes, a sniper's bullet hit Rafael's temple from outside.

Chaos erupted, and even Marcus looked panicked.

The kidnappers outside shouted, "The police are here!"

Marcus realized the situation and quickly put on a mask, grabbing Mabel as a hostage.

The kidnappers shielded Marcus as they tried to escape through the back door, only to find the police had surrounded them.

"Don't move, or I'll kill her," Marcus threatened, trembling as he held a knife to Mabel's neck.

"Don't worry about me, just shoot," Mabel yelled, "He's Marcus from the Chamberlain Group."

"Shut up, I'm not," Marcus roared. He couldn't let anyone see his face. If he escaped, he could use his money to flee. With money, he could go anywhere.

"Marcus, the snipers have already seen your face. You can't escape," a voice said as the police parted, and Cameron walked in.

Despite his chiseled face showing signs of age, his eyes were still intense. A deep scar on his face added a touch of ruggedness.

Marcus's arm shook violently.

"It's you. You're not dead," Marcus was stunned.

Mabel stared at Cameron, thinking, 'Is that Cameron? How is he here?'

Her throat tightened painfully. They hadn't seen each other in over twenty years.

They were both middle-aged now, but he was still so mature and handsome.

Mabel wondered, "Why does Cameron have a scar? What did Marcus mean?"

"Surprised? Hard to recognize me, huh?" Cameron said coldly to Marcus. "You forced me to leave and sent people to hunt me down abroad. You drove my mom and me to desperation. My mom died because of you. Since then, I've lived to take your life."

"I don't know what you're talking about," Marcus denied loudly. He knew he couldn't admit anything in front of the police. "Move aside, or I'll kill her right now."

"You don't need to use me as a threat," Mabel said, looking sadly at Cameron. "I'm sorry. I heard from Joseph about your tough times these past decades. It's my fault, and I caused your mom's death. Even if I die here today, it's what I owe you. Don't worry about me."

She closed her eyes and leaned into Marcus's knife.

Marcus was startled and quickly tightened his grip on her neck.

"Marcus, you can't use me as a hostage," Mabel said, her face turning red from being choked.

Cameron clenched his fists. "Marcus, just go."

Mabel was stunned, staring at him with wide eyes. "No."

"You are Joseph's biological mom. I can't let you die," Cameron said, waving his hand. After exchanging a glance with the police, they made way.

Marcus pressed Mabel and slowly left, then got into a car with the two surviving kidnappers.

"Mr. Chamberlain, what now?" Enrique shouted angrily.

"My money and cards are in the villa. Take me back to get them," Marcus gritted his teeth.

"You really love money more than life," Mabel mocked.

"You don't understand," Marcus slapped her. "Without money, I can't go anywhere."

Mabel was almost knocked out. She gritted her teeth and held on.

The car sped to Marcus's hidden villa.

When Marcus got out with Mabel, Wyatt immediately approached. "Mr. Chamberlain, what happened?"

"Wyatt, I'll give you fifty million dollars to help me escape," Marcus said. He knew Wyatt was highly skilled, which was why he had recruited him.

With Wyatt's skills, Marcus believed escaping would be much easier.

Wyatt's pupils trembled. "Athena and my child are here."

"As long as you protect me and help me escape, you can come back later. Wyatt, you're my man, already tied to me. If I'm caught, you'll go to jail, too," Marcus warned.

"Okay," Wyatt clenched his fists.

"Watch her. I'm going upstairs to get something," Marcus pushed Mabel to Enrique and quickly went upstairs.

"Marcus is still wary of us even now," Enrique sneered.

"He has hidden so much gold and jewelry. He's afraid we'll take it," another kidnapper laughed.

"What happened?" Wyatt asked.

"Just now, the police suddenly..." Before Enrique could finish, a knife was plunged into his chest.

The other kidnapper widened his eyes at Wyatt, then looked down at the knife in his chest, opening his mouth.

Before he could speak, Wyatt knocked him out.

"Go catch Marcus," Mabel urged.

"Don't worry, Mr. Hernandez is already upstairs. I'll take you to the hospital," Wyatt said, carrying her out of the villa. An ambulance had just arrived and took Mabel to the hospital.

Upstairs, Marcus was frantically packing gold and jewelry from the safe.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps behind him.

"Why are you up here?" Marcus turned around, but before he could finish, he saw Joseph behind him.

"Help!" Marcus immediately shouted.

Joseph watched him with interest, waiting until his voice was hoarse before sarcastically curling his lips. "Do you think anyone will come to save you? Wyatt has already dealt with the people downstairs."
