Chapter 1296 The Arrogant Mr. Hernandez

The security guards and the receptionist had long recognized Cassie and Joseph; they were deliberately making things tough for them.

Now, Joseph suddenly lost his cool. His intimidating vibe exploded, making the receptionist and the security guards instinctively feel a sense of fear.

At the same time, they were puzzled. Wasn't Joseph supposed to be dumb? How could this be considered dumb?

"Get lost." Joseph grabbed the security guard by the collar and tossed him aside.

After throwing him, he sneered, "With such lousy combat skills, how did you even get a job as a security guard at the Hernandez Group?"

The security guard's face turned red with anger. He couldn't take Joseph alone, but he didn't believe that a group of bodyguards couldn't handle him.

Anyway, the new president had given instructions to humiliate Joseph as much as they wanted.

The security guard immediately called over a group of bodyguards.

Cassie only saw a blur of movement, and then the group of bodyguards was lying on the ground, unable to get up for a long time.

"A bunch of trash." Joseph adjusted his black-framed glasses, his handsome face showing an extremely arrogant and contemptuous expression.

Cassie was dumbfounded.

"You've gone too far. I'm calling the cops." The security team leader, who had initially led the attack, angrily took out his phone.

"Go ahead," Cassie said with a smile, "It'll be a good opportunity to tell the cops that we can't even get into our own company and are being bullied by a bodyguard. How could you call a group of people attacking one person? And let Lars see how he's managing the company."

The security guard was stunned.

He was brought in by Mr. Johansson's relative, and even if he was dull, he knew that involving Mr. Johansson would be troublesome.

"Mr. Hernandez, Ms. Brooks, you're here." Nathaniel suddenly came running down from upstairs.

Cassie had heard that he had been transferred to the first-floor logistics department, but seeing it with her own eyes still made her angry.

"Yeah, we're here, but we were blocked by a bunch of idiots at the door," Joseph said with a cold snort.

The security guards and receptionists remained silent.

"A bunch of newcomers, all following Lars' team's orders," Nathaniel explained with a faint smile.

"So that's it. Lars is deliberately making things difficult for me. Fine, I'll go have a chat with him." Joseph swaggered inside.

Nathaniel watched his back and looked at Cassie in confusion, "Mr. Hernandez has recovered?"

"No, I just told him to be more arrogant on the way here," Cassie said helplessly, "He's quite good at it."

Nathaniel chuckled, "That's good, otherwise, we really couldn't handle Lars."

The three of them went upstairs.

There were only ten minutes left until the board meeting.

Nathaniel directly led them to the conference room.

This was Cassie's first time in the Hernandez Group's conference room. After walking in, she took a look around. It wasn't very big, with no more than twenty seats. A middle-aged man in a dark suit was sitting inside, with a secretary standing next to him who was pouring water.

Cassie took one look at the man and knew he was Lars. She had looked up his information online before; he was an experienced manager who had previously served as the CEO of a top 100 company abroad.

Now seeing Lars in person, his deep-set face screamed cunning. No wonder Olivia had agreed to let him run the Hernandez Group.

"Mr. Hernandez." Lars heard the footsteps, stood up, nodded at Joseph, smiled, but he didn't even glance at Cassie.

Cassie knew he recognized her. He was doing this to show his authority.

She smiled and pulled a document from her bag, then tossed it in front of Lars, "Director Mabel won't be attending the board meeting today due to health reasons. She’s given me full authority to represent her."

"I see." Lars looked at the signature, and nodded politely, "Director Mabel is indeed getting on in years, I see."

"Fifty is old?" Cassie shot back, "You look almost forty-nine yourself. Should I understand that you're not up to it? If you can't handle it, just let us know. The company doesn't necessarily need you as the president."

Lars' face darkened, but he kept his cool, still smiling, making Cassie seem aggressive, "I didn't mean that, Ms. Brooks. You misunderstood. Besides, I'm only forty-one, in good health, and men and women are different physically."

"Sorry, you look too old, I got it wrong." Cassie replied.

Cassie smiled, "Indeed, it's different. After all, the mortality rate for men is much higher than for women every year. Do you know why? Because men generally have various bad habits: smoking, drinking, staying up late, excessive sexual activity. Lars, take care of your health, don't overwork yourself."

Lars almost lost it.

He seemed to finally understand why David had warned him to be wary of this woman. She was extremely sharp-tongued.

"Thank you for the reminder, Ms. Brooks. I'll be careful," Lars said, "Now that I can manage such a large company as the Hernandez Group, I'll do my best to manage it well. Not to mention managing until seventy, I'll definitely work until sixty."

"Hope you get the chance," Cassie said with a smile, "But I don't think you will."

"Ms. Brooks, what do you mean?" Lars' face turned cold.

Cassie replied, "I should ask you what you mean. When Mr. Hernandez and I came in, the receptionist and security guards blocked us, and even attacked us. This atmosphere is much worse than when Mr. Hernandez was in charge. I have to tell you on behalf of Director Mabel, you just took this position. It's understandable for you to want to replace Mr. Hernandez's trusted aides, but you can't just bring in anyone through special relationships. Before meeting you, I admired your reputation, but after meeting you, from the moment I walked in, I felt terrible."

Seeing Lars' face getting darker, Cassie smiled, "What, unhappy with a few words? Remember, you're just an employee."

"So what if he's just an employee, you can't just replace him," a voice full of anger suddenly came from the door.

Cassie turned around and saw Robert sitting in a wheelchair. David pushed him into the room.

"Mr. Robert Brooks, you're here." Lars immediately breathed a sigh of relief and greeted him, "If you hadn't come, I think Ms. Brooks would have made me leave."

"What right does she have to make you leave?" Robert snorted coldly.

"Dad, why don't I have the right? I'm your daughter. You even brought David with you, which means you're willing to acknowledge me," Cassie said with a warm smile.
