Chapter 597

"Calm down, Leo. Cassie has been gone for three years," Atlas implored, his hand firmly gripping Leo's arm. A sense of foreboding gnawed at Atlas, his instincts screaming at him to distance themselves from the woman before them, whether she was truly Cassie or not.

Leo, however, shrugged off Atlas' restraining hand, his eyes never wavering from the woman who bore an uncanny resemblance to his deceased daughter. The closer he drew, the more his certainty solidified.

" Cassie, are you really alive?" Leo's voice wavered, his eyes brimming with tears.

"Dad, I'm sorry. I had to fake my death and leave due to unavoidable circumstances. But now, I've returned," Cassie responded, her voice choked with emotion as she stepped forward to embrace her father.

"My dear girl, it's good to have you back. I've failed you in the past, but from now on, I'll give you nothing but the best," Leo declared, his words echoing through the room, catching the attention of the surrounding guests.

Whispers filled the room, the guests exchanging speculative glances. "When did Leo have an illegitimate daughter?"

"I remember hearing about it three years ago. Leo brought a daughter back from Madison to acknowledge her as a member of his family."

"Isn't she the one who married into the Hernandez family, Joseph's ex-wife, Cassie?"

The whispers grew louder, and all eyes turned towards Joseph.

Joseph, a handsome figure of indifference and darkness, sat unfazed by the murmurs. His deep-set eyes flickered with an inscrutable coldness, his thoughts a mystery to all. He calmly lit a cigarette, the smoke obscuring his enigmatic features.

"Dad, don't let her deceive you," Luna interjected, her voice soft yet firm. "How can a dead person return? She merely resembles Cassie and has somehow learned of her past. She's here to deceive us all. Remember, Cassie had disfigured herself."

Atlas chimed in, "Indeed, brother. You should remember how Cassie looked. Top plastic surgeons claimed her face could never be restored. Joseph, you remember this, don't you?" His gaze shifted to Joseph, who remained seated, seemingly detached from the unfolding drama.

Joseph flicked the ash from his cigarette, rose from his chair, and began to approach Cassie. As he drew closer, the details of Cassie's face became more apparent. Over the years, his memories of Cassie had been marred by her disfigurement, her original beauty almost forgotten. Now, confronted with her restored visage, a wave of familiarity and awe washed over him. Her unique beauty was unparalleled, unmatched by any in New York.

"Enough, don't bother asking him," Cassie interjected, a faint smile playing on her lips. "Everyone knows Joseph never truly cared for me. His assistant probably knows more about me than he does." She leaned in to whisper in Leo's ear, "Dad, before your accident, you promised me 35% of the company's shares." The doubt in Leo's eyes dissipated. Only his most trusted lawyer and Cassie knew of this promise. "Enough questions. I am certain, she is Cassie, my biological daughter," Leo announced with newfound confidence.

Luna's anxiety was palpable. "Dad, she's trying to trick you," she protested. Cassie merely laughed, "I only mentioned a few secrets between Dad and me. It's true that local aesthetic doctors couldn't restore my face, but that doesn't mean foreign doctors couldn't. Aesthetic medicine has advanced, and I've been treating my face abroad. It took three years, but I've finally restored it."
