Chapter 1190 Nina Was Cleared
"Lucas, have you been without a woman for too long and now you're taking it out on us?" Michael teased.
Lucas stayed silent, looking cold and stern.
Michael and Joseph exchanged glances. "Did Sarah upset you?"
"When has she ever made me happy?" Lucas replied, his voice icy.
Michael and Joseph both went quiet.
After a bit, Michael said, "Then find another woman. You're not exactly a saint. You sleep around the most. Is there any woman you can't get if you want to?"
Joseph nodded in agreement.
Lucas was different from them. Even if he got married, he wouldn't be faithful. Marriage meant nothing to him.
A low, hoarse laugh came from Lucas, sending chills down their spines.
Michael shivered and instinctively said, "We were just talking about that actress we had dinner with last time."
"Bernice," Joseph reminded.
"Right, Bernice. She's pretty. Laura always talks about her," Michael said. He noticed Lucas's face looked even worse, and the room felt colder. "Did I say something wrong?"
"Lucas doesn't like her. She's not his type," Joseph said.
"Right, my bad," Michael said, patting his head.
Lucas's temples throbbed. He should've stayed home; talking to them was infuriating.
"By the way, I heard you went to the film set today," Joseph suddenly asked, "Got a lot of free time, huh?"
Lucas said, "Ever seen a woman and just wanted her?"
Joseph and Michael gave him strange looks.
After a moment, Joseph smirked. "Don't you usually feel that way about women? So, who do you want this time?"
"Want?" Lucas chuckled. 'Am I really that despicable?' he thought.
"Aren't you always into playing around?" Michael said.
"Maybe, but she didn't give me any chance at all." Lucas squinted and smiled. "Honestly, I haven't met such an interesting woman in a long time."
"Lucas, are you falling for her?" Michael asked.
"Lucas?" Joseph raised an eyebrow. "Not happening. He probably doesn't even know what love is. He's just upset because he can't get that woman."
"Maybe." Michael nodded. "But honestly, a good woman wouldn't get involved with a man who's about to get married. If she knows you're getting married and still comes to you, isn't that being a homewrecker? If I were a woman, I wouldn't want that."
Joseph nodded. "Right, Lucas, if she rejects you, just let it go. Don't ruin her life."
Michael laughed. "Don't worry. Lucas isn't the type to force anyone."
Lucas stayed silent, thinking, 'I won't force anyone, but Bernice just gets under my skin.'
The next day, Bernice, having a rare day off, slept in.
After getting up, she was making breakfast when she suddenly got a call.
"Ms. Ramsey, the police just informed me. Marcus was arrested and confessed to framing Nina for Joyce's death. Nina's been cleared."
Bernice was frying an egg when she heard this. She froze until the voice on the other end spoke again, "Ms. Ramsey, are you there?"
"Yeah." Bernice flipped the egg. "Nina's dead, and her parents are dead. What good is clearing her name now?"
The person on the other end went silent.
"Thanks." Bernice hung up, turned off the stove, and closed her eyes.
Even though Nina had another life, she never felt so stifled.
Her body was probably picked clean by fish, and now she was told she was innocent.
Bernice leaned on the kitchen counter and laughed softly until her eyes turned red.
It was Marcus who harmed Nina back then, but what grudge did she have with Marcus?
Her whole family was destroyed.
Bernice lost her appetite for breakfast. Near noon, she opened the door and went downstairs to throw out the trash.
As she reached the bottom, a figure suddenly appeared from the stairwell. "Bernice."
Seeing the figure, Bernice felt a wave of disgust and turned to leave, not even wanting to throw out the trash. However, a hand grabbed her.
"Bernice, I am your dad," Hunter Ramsey grabbed her hand.
"Let go." Bernice turned back.
Seeing her cold, icy eyes, Hunter shivered but still bit his lip. "Bernice, I'm sick. You're a big star now, making so much money. Give me some money for treatment."
"Treatment?" Bernice laughed coldly. "What illness do you have? Where's your medical record?"
"At home, I forgot to bring it," Hunter stammered, "I don't need much, just a million dollars."
"Your illness must be serious. A million dollars could treat cancer. Do you have cancer?" Bernice said with a smile.
"Bernice, if you want me to live, just give it to me. I promise I won't ask for money again," Hunter said.
"Forget it. Last time you borrowed two million dollars, you said the same thing." Bernice pulled her hand back. "I told you that was the last money I'd give you. You were not my dad back then. And don't take me for a fool. You want the money for your son."
Hunter, exposed, shamelessly shouted, "I am your dad! What's wrong with asking for support? You make millions of dollars a year and want to brush me off with two million dollars? Dream on. I'll make a scene if you don't give it to me. I'll tell everyone that you don't support your dad."
"Say whatever you want." Bernice turned to leave.
She would never give Hunter a penny.
Before Nina became Bernice, when Bernice first entered the entertainment industry, Hunter extorted all her money.
For years, Hunter's family lived off Bernice, while Bernice and Danielle were abandoned by him. When Nina thought of Hunter, she was furious.
"Don't go," Hunter grabbed her, shouting, "Everyone, look! She is the big star, Bernice. I'm her dad."
