Chapter 1054 The Truth
Joel walked up to Athena and slapped her hard, swelling half of her face.
"Joel, you bastard," Athena cursed, "How dare you hit me? I will make your life a living hell. Let me tell you, Joseph is not the same as before. If you are to know what good from bad, you better leave him soon, or you won't even know how you died."
"You talk too much." Joel slapped her on the other side.
Athena's mouth hurt so much that she couldn't say a word. She could only cry and look at Wyatt for help.
"Enough." Wyatt angrily stopped them. "Mr. Hernandez, Athena is right. We have left Dragon, and we have nothing to do with Dragon anymore. What are you trying to do now? I worked for Dragon for so many years, and in the end, you bully Athena. You can't be so shameless."
"Shameless?" Joseph smiled as if he had heard a joke. "Wyatt, you did a lot for Dragon, but Dragon didn't treat you badly. It was the Hernandez family that gave you power, status, and money. In the end, you became the one who deceived me the most."
Wyatt's muscles instantly tensed up. "I didn't. You are slandering me."
"Slander?" Joseph sneered and glanced at Joel, who started slapping Athena again.
"Joel, Joseph, you will die in your boots," Athena cursed intermittently in pain.
"Stop," Wyatt shouted, "Joseph, don't hurt Athena. She is carrying my child."
"Because she is carrying your child, you think you can deceive me without consequences?" Joseph suddenly pressed a knife against Athena's belly. "If I just push a little, your child will be gone."
Wyatt's face turned pale. "No, Mr. Hernandez, I beg you."
"Then, I want to know the truth about Liam's disappearance. You only have one chance, or I will..." Joseph said calmly.
Athena was startled. "I don't know..."
Before she could finish, Joel stuffed a dirty rag into her mouth.
Wyatt glanced at the expressionless Joseph and lowered his head with a bitter smile. "I'm sorry, Mr. Hernandez, I lied to you. Actually, after I threw Liam out that day, I contacted the Chamberlain family. The Chamberlains had already bribed me. I'm sorry."
Athena's struggling body suddenly stopped. She stared blankly at Wyatt.
"I didn't expect you to take all the responsibility to protect Athena." Joseph smiled slightly and took a step back.
Joel opened a box filled with various needles. Wyatt and Athena, who had been with Dragon, quickly recognized them as Dragon's most brutal torture tools. Once pricked by those needles, one would be painful, but there would be no visible wounds.
Joel took out a silver needle and directly pricked Athena.
Athena cried in pain, her tears and snot flowing, her body convulsing violently.
"Joseph," Wyatt roared.
Joseph lit a cigarette indifferently and said, "Wyatt, I'm very busy. I don't have time to waste here. I want to know the truth. Don't wait until all the needles are in Athena before you tell me, or she will be dead."
"I'll tell you, Mr. Hernandez, stop pricking her," Wyatt said agitatedly, "That day, I took Athena with me. I didn't expect Liam to disappear. Later, you asked me to investigate, but for Athena, I didn't tell you the truth. I'm sorry."
"So, Athena was colluding with the Chamberlain family from the beginning, and she stole the chip data to frame Liam, right?" Joseph asked aggressively.
"I don't know," Wyatt shook his head in confusion and pain.
"No, you know," Joseph removed the rag from Athena's mouth.
Athena's face was already pale from the pain. Seeing the needle in Joel's hand, she trembled in fear. "No, what he said is false. It was Wyatt who colluded with the Chamberlain family. I am innocent. Wyatt did everything. He took benefits from the Chamberlain family."
Wyatt froze. He stared at Athena, not expecting her to ultimately shift all the blame onto him.
Joseph glanced at Wyatt, took out Athena's phone, opened the messages, and showed them to Wyatt. "You may not know her well enough. While you were having dinner, she was flirting with Dennis."
Wyatt looked at the explicit messages, his eyes filled with anger. "Athena, you bitch."
"He is framing me. I didn't do it," Athena said, terrified, constantly defending herself.
"Also, she said she wanted to abort your child because she thinks you're too old." Joseph chuckled.
Wyatt's muscles trembled, and his eyes turned bloodshot with pain. After a long time, he lowered his head in sorrow and regret. "Mr. Hernandez, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I betrayed you for Athena. I deserve to die. Kill me."
"I want to know the truth first," Joseph said coldly.
Wyatt smiled bitterly. "At first, I didn't suspect Athena either. After Liam disappeared, I thought the situation was bad, so I took her away from Dragon. I asked her about Liam, and she admitted it was her doing. She said she didn't want me to keep working for the Hernandez family and that it was for my good. I was angry, but I had no choice. Recently, the Chamberlains has been approaching us frequently, wanting me to work for them."
Joseph looked at Athena and said coldly, "I want to know where Liam is."
At first, Athena held on, but after Joel inserted another needle, she broke down. "I pushed him off a cliff into the sea. The Chamberlains instructed me. Marcus made me do it."
"Bastard." Joseph kicked over the chair in front of him, his eyes red with anger.
It was just as he had guessed. Marcus did it.
Joseph thought to himself, 'Liam is definitely my biological brother.'
"Was the lab chip theft also Marcus's doing to frame Liam?" Joseph asked again.
Athena nodded weakly. "Yes, he said Liam didn't listen to him and needed to be taught a lesson."
Joseph laughed bitterly. At that time, Joseph had beaten Liam desperately, but Liam never admitted he was a traitor.
However, Joseph didn't believe Liam.
Joseph said to himself inwardly, 'I didn't believe my brother. Marcus, you are ruthless. Wait and see! I will make you pay the price!'
He pried Athena's mouth open and put a pill in it. Athena was terrified. "What did you make me swallow?"
"A poison. Without the antidote every month, you will die a painful death. Even the best doctors can't cure it," Joseph replied.
Joseph looked at Wyatt. "Wyatt, I'll give you a chance to see your child."
