Chapter 45 No one will come to save her.

Helen slapped her across the face. "Shut up! Olivia was kind enough to speak up for you, and you insult her!"

"Send her away immediately," Robert ordered, annoyed.

He thought to himself, 'Why did Cassie turn out like this? She is too far gone.'

Cassie didn't know how long she had been in the car, but she was eventually thrown into the Brooks Manor in Willowbrook Town.

The bodyguards quickly locked the main door and even nailed the windows shut.

Worse still, there was no electricity, no water, and not even a blanket.

Her phone was with Helen, and she had no idea what time it was.

The entire two-story house was pitch black, and the wind outside banged against the doors and windows, making eerie noises.

She was on the verge of losing her mind, curled up on the cold bed, too scared to move.

She was afraid of the dark, truly terrified.

She rushed over when she heard the small window being opened. At the door, Kaitlyn Neal placed a bowl of food inside.

Cassie grabbed her hand, pleading, "Please let me out. If not, at least turn on some lights or give me a blanket. I'm begging you."

"No. Mr. Brooks and Mrs. Brooks instructed me," Kaitlyn said coldly, pulling her hand back and closing the door.

Cassie stood in the darkness, her whole body aching with pain.

Why were Robert and Helen doing this to her? Why did they want to take away her freedom and her life?

She was filled with hatred—hatred for Olivia, Robert, Helen, and Arthur.

She said to herself inwardly, 'I can't give up on myself. I have to get out alive and get revenge.'

Tears rolled down her cheeks. If no one came to save her, she might not survive to get out.

Not far from the main gate, Kaitlyn made a phone call. "Ms. Brooks, I did everything as you instructed."

"Good. The temperature will drop starting tomorrow. I want Cassie to die in there."

"Don't worry. In these conditions, she won't last more than four days."

At 11 PM, Joseph came home from work. He had had a few drinks while discussing an international finance case tonight and felt a bit dizzy.

As soon as he walked in and turned on the light, Dakota ran over and clung to his leg, meowing incessantly.

"Did you miss me that much?" Joseph rubbed its head. A moment later, he realized something was off. It wasn't until Dakota nudged its empty bowl with its nose that he fully understood.

He pondered, 'Is Dakota hungry? Could it be that Cassie hasn't fed it?'

He quickly poured some cat food for Dakota, who devoured it as if it were starving.

Joseph searched the house and found that Cassie hadn't come back at all. His face turned dark.

It was so late, and she still wasn't home.

He pulled out his phone to call her, but it was turned off.

He thought, 'Could something have happened to her?'

Joseph pulled out his phone to check her location. Fortunately, he had linked her phone's location to his when he gave it to her today, as he worried about a repeat of last night's situation.

After finding the location, he sent it to Nathaniel: [Check where this is for me.]

A minute later, Nathaniel called back. "That's the Brooks Villa, where Ms. Brooks' parents, Robert and Helen, live."

"Got it." Joseph ended the call, fuming.

He cursed inwardly, 'Cassie came home without even giving me a call, and she turned off her phone. Does she think that after taking the recording from this morning back to the Brooks family, Robert and Helen would forgive her, and she wouldn't need to come back? What does she take me for, someone to use and then discard?'

He never expected Cassie to be so ruthless, disappearing for three days without any word, not even a phone call.

What frustrated him even more was that he hadn't eaten well in those three days.

Even when he went to the restaurant Noah recommended as the best in all of Silverwood, he found the food tasteless.

Sometimes, he worried that something had happened to Cassie, but every time he checked her location, she was at the Brooks Villa.

He said to himself inwardly, 'Her biological parents wouldn't harm her, right? She might have forgotten me.'
