Chapter 1528 Close Your Eyes

"Blair and I just met. How could I even think about kissing her so soon? Plus, kissing Blair would mean I'm thinking of her as my girlfriend, and I'm not ready for that."

Derek shook his head firmly. His reasoning made sense, but Laura felt a sudden wave of irritation. "So, if you kiss me, it doesn't make you a creep, and you don't have to take responsibility, right?"

"I just want to see if I'm grossed out by women," Derek said, looking a bit hurt. "You promised me."

She hadn't exactly promised, but she hadn't said no either.

Every part of Laura was buzzing with annoyance and panic.

"Hey, who's that?" Derek suddenly pointed to her left, looking surprised.

Laura thought Elliott had come down and quickly looked over, but saw nothing.

"No one's there." As soon as she turned back, Derek leaned in.

Before she could react, Derek's lips were on hers.

Just a moment ago, she was curious about the taste of that wine tonight.

Now she didn't have to wonder.

Derek's lips and breath were mixed with the taste of alcohol.

She instinctively tried to push him away, but Derek's body pressed against hers, one hand gripping her right shoulder and the other on the back of her head.

"Derek, you jerk," Laura mumbled against his lips, but her voice was weak because of the kiss.

"I remember you promised me. Just relax, close your eyes," Derek murmured.

He deepened the kiss, not giving her a chance to think.

Laura's mind was a whirlwind. This wasn't the first time he'd kissed her. Last time, he had been wasted, but this time he was clearly sober.

He kissed her so eagerly, not like someone who hated wowen.

In the quiet, enclosed car, the only sounds were their muffled voices.

She hadn't drunk anything, but the taste of alcohol from his mouth made her feel a bit tipsy.

She had always hated the smell of alcohol on men, but Derek's wasn't so bad.

In a daze, she didn't know how long the kiss lasted.

Derek finally pulled away, then nipped at her ear.

Laura shivered, snapping back to reality. She pushed him away, her face flushed. Seeing Derek's gentle, affectionate eyes made her heart race, and she started trembling. "Derek, what was that?"

Didn't he say he would just kiss?

Why did he kiss her so hard she could barely breathe, making her lips swell?

And biting her ear like that, something only couples would do.

Laura's mind was a mess. On a night like this, things seemed to be spiraling out of control.

"Kissing you," Derek said, staring at her flushed lips.

"Yeah, I know you were kissing me," Laura said, her face burning. "But why did you bite my ear? You know you can't just bite a woman's ear randomly, right?"

"I know, but I couldn't help it when I saw your cute little expression," Derek admitted.

Laura buried her face in her hands, mortified. "Alright, congrats, you proved it. You're not grossed out by women. In fact, you seem to like them a lot."

"Yeah, I really liked kissing you," Derek cut in.

Laura was so nervous she couldn't even look at him. "Really? But I bet you'd like kissing other women just as much."

"Not sure," Derek said with a slight smirk. "Laura, if only I had met you first."

Laura's breath caught.

Was he saying what she thought he was? Or was she reading too much into it?

"Stop talking nonsense. It's late, let's go back," Laura said, flustered.

She started the car, her mind racing.

This night was spiraling out of control.

"Laura, when I kissed you, it felt familiar, like I'd kissed you before," Derek suddenly said. "Have we kissed before?"

Laura didn't know how to respond. It wasn't until they had driven a bit that she finally spoke. "I think you're really drunk."

"Maybe, I did drink a bit too much tonight," Derek mumbled, his voice trailing off as he closed his eyes.

Laura glanced at him. The streetlights outside cast shadows on his face, making him look even more handsome.

Her eyes lingered on his lips for a few seconds before she reached up and quietly wiped her own.

They were still tingling from his kiss.

He had said, "If only I had met you first."

She wanted to say, "If only I had met you first, too."

But life didn't work that way.

In the hotel private room, Julia put down her phone. She wasn't drunk and looked at Elliott.

Now it was just the two of them. Elliott didn't say a word, just kept pouring wine into his glass.

He downed it in one gulp.

"Stop drinking," Julia said, reaching for his glass, but Elliott grabbed her wrist before she could touch it. He looked at her coldly. "It's none of your business."

"Derek just called. He said he got his clothes dirty and went back with Laura. He booked a room upstairs for you and asked me to take you up," Julia said, standing up and trying to help Elliott.

Elliott stood up and pushed her away, stumbling back a few steps and bumping into the screen behind him.

"You're really drunk," Julia said, her eyes filled with concern. "Don't be stubborn. You're so drunk you can't even walk straight. You wouldn't want to see anyone laugh at you when you trip yourself over, right?"

Elliott gave a cold smile, leaning against the screen, his body swaying.

Julia walked over and put his arm around her neck.

She held her bag in one hand and supported Elliott's waist with the other as they walked out.

The waiter at the door handed them a room key.

Julia took it and headed towards the elevator.

In the elevator, their reflections were pressed close together on the mirrored walls.

Elliott suddenly felt even more drunk, as if he had been transported back to his days studying abroad.
