Chapter 711
"Well, this case is done then."
As the police were about to leave, Laura said indignantly, "This wasn't a robbery at all; someone hired them for personal revenge."
"Enough, Laura. Even if the police investigate further, this is all they can find." Cassie stopped her and let the police go.
"Nathan must have paid them off," Laura said angrily.
Cassie sneered, "That's normal. People always grow, and Nathan is getting better at doing bad things. He used to leave some evidence for Joseph to clean up, but now he handles it cleanly himself, without any trace leading back to him."
"So, we're just going to let Sophia's revenge go?" Laura said unwillingly.
"Take it slow, but I have to resolve this matter." Cassie handed Oliver to Laura, "I gotta go."
"Where are you going?" Oliver asked worriedly.
"I'm going to buy some breakfast. I'll be back soon. Take care of your sister." Cassie coaxed Oliver a few times before leaving the hospital.
Eight in the morning.
At the beach house.
After finishing breakfast, Megan helped Joseph take off his suit jacket and said with a gentle smile, "It's still early. Will you accompany me to the hospital? I need to get an injection."
She had been going to the hospital frequently these days for ovulation injections, aiming to undergo IVF successfully.
Joseph looked back at her with a complicated expression. "There's no need to rush to have a child. We're still young; we can wait until after we get married."
"Joseph, I'm not young anymore. I want to have a child as soon as possible and start a family with you. I'm not afraid of pain. I'll endure any hardship for you," Megan said, tenderly holding his arm.
"Okay, I'll go with you." Joseph lowered his eyes apologetically. If he hadn't been unable to make love to her, she wouldn't have to suffer through IVF.
Cassie was right; IVF was harmful to women.
Just as the car started and was about to leave the yard, an SUV suddenly crashed through the iron gate and sped towards Joseph's car.
Joseph quickly turned the steering wheel to avoid it, and the SUV ran over the flowers in the yard and crashed into the floor-to-ceiling windows, shattering the glass everywhere.
Cassie kicked open the car door and jumped out of the SUV, wearing combat boots and jeans. Her eyes were cold as ice.
Joseph's pupils contracted, and Megan clung to his waist, trembling in fear.
"What is she trying to do, Joseph? She's so scary. We almost got hit."
Joseph opened the car door with a cold expression and walked out. The yard was a mess, which irritated his already bad temper. "Cassie, are you looking for death this morning? I've tolerated you long enough."
"I've tolerated you two long enough, too." Cassie walked towards him step by step, not hiding the anger in her eyes. "How come I didn't kill you two bitches just now?"
"If you're sick, take your medicine." Joseph looked at Cassie like she was a mad woman.
Megan also got out of the car and bitterly said, "Cassie, calm down. I know the news of Joseph and me getting married might have upset you, but what you're doing now is illegal. I've already called the police."
Joseph was stunned, and Megan explained helplessly, "She's too crazy this time. Didn't you see what she did to the house? Luckily, no one was hit. If we don't teach her a lesson, she might become even more reckless next time."
Joseph fell silent. He knew Cassie still liked him, but her craziness was indeed frightening, and she needed to be taught a lesson.
