Chapter 1247 Cassie, How Dare You

Joseph's eyes narrowed like he just got hit with a cold splash of water.

Right then, his phone buzzed.

Nathaniel was on the other end, sounding frantic. "Mr. Hernandez, we got a situation. A mob's stormed the lab, beat up Dragon's guards, and now they're inside. Some of our tech guys are seriously hurt."

"Got it." Joseph shot a frosty look at Olivia.

He spun around and made for the door.

But bam, three bodyguards blocked his path.

Olivia smirked, "Heading to the lab, huh? Think I'd let you? Joseph, you’re all about your work, right? Well, I'm gonna rip it all away. You always acted like you were hot stuff, treating me like dirt back in Silverwood. I remember every bit of it. Starting today, I'm settling the score."

"Not just hers..." David stepped up, eyes burning with spite. "Mine too. You humiliated me, Joseph. On my wedding night, Cassie was supposed to be mine, but you took her. I swore I'd make you pay, make you wish you were dead."

Joseph looked at their hate-filled faces and almost laughed.

They never thought about how much they hurt Cassie.

"You two are a real pair," he chuckled. "You think it's fine to hurt others, but when someone fights back, you play the victim. Do you even hear yourselves?"

Olivia raised an eyebrow. "My dad's the eldest son in the Brook family. I was supposed to inherit everything. Cassie took the Peace group from me; she had it coming. It's called karma."

David sneered, "She should be grateful I even looked at her. I faked losing a kidney for her, always acted concerned. Never did that for any other woman."

"Your shamelessness is next level." Suddenly, Cassie's mocking voice cut through the tension from the doorway.

They turned to see Cassie, barely visible behind the bodyguards.

"Cassie." Joseph rushed over, grabbed her hand, urgency in his voice. "We need to get to the lab."

"No need." Cassie stopped him, stepping inside.

Seeing David and Olivia's smug faces, she smiled. "Joey, chill. On my way, I had Joel bring reinforcements. Plus, I called in over ten experts from Mr. Nelson. They should be at the lab by now."

David and Olivia's faces went stiff, especially Olivia. She had brought over two-thirds of Isabella's crew from Neya City to take back the lab.

"Today, no matter how many people you bring, I'll take them down." Cassie's eyes flashed with fierce determination.

Even Joseph was taken aback, feeling the intensity of Cassie's anger, like she was ready to end Olivia.

"I don't buy it," Olivia snapped, practically shaking with excitement. "Cassie, how dare you! I can call the cops and have you locked up. The Hernandez group is mine now. My people have every right to be in that lab. If you hurt them, that's a crime."

"Sure, the lab's under the Hernandez group, but all the data in there? That's my personal stuff," Joseph shot back, ice in his voice. "Your people barging in is straight-up theft. Even if the cops get involved, we can claim self-defense. And if your bodyguards get hurt, tough luck. I'll just pay the damages."

"Keep dreaming. If your people touch mine, you'll regret it for the rest of your life," Olivia spat. "You have no idea who you're messing with. Not even Carl can save you."

Cassie looked at Olivia's smug face, feeling her anger bubble up. "No, Olivia, I know exactly who I'm dealing with. Don't think I don't. The people you brought aren't even your own; they're from the Wittelsbach family. You've been acting all high and mighty because of them."

Joseph's eyebrows shot up. 'The Wittelsbach family?'

Olivia, however, laughed like she had already won. "Yeah, the Wittelsbach family. You have no clue how powerful they are."

"Olivia, I'll give you this—you’re the nastiest opponent I've ever faced. Not because you're good, but because you're so low and shameless," Cassie said, trying to keep her cool. There were things she needed to get straight. "How did you find my mother? What did you say to her?"

Joseph was floored.

Olivia put on an innocent act, widening her eyes. "What are you talking about? I don't get it."

"Cut the crap. I've already seen my mother," Cassie said, her heart aching at the mention. "What did you say to make her hate me so much?"

"Oh, you mean when she slapped you twice?" Olivia's eyes gleamed with satisfaction as she looked at Cassie's masked face. "You can't blame her. You tried to seduce her husband and got what you deserved. Now you can't even show your face."

Olivia had gotten a call from Isabella on her way over. The thought of Cassie getting scolded and slapped by her own mother made Olivia feel incredibly smug.

Even though Cassie and Isabella had finally met, Olivia had already done a paternity test with Isabella. No matter what Cassie said, Isabella wouldn't believe her, especially now that Isabella had taken the medicine and lost all reason.

"Cassie, what happened?" Joseph asked, more confused than ever.

Cassie was slapped by her mom? Her mon's still alive?

Joseph was completely lost.

As for Olivia's claim that Cassie seduced Isabella's husband, he didn't buy it for a second.

Cassie ignored him, her eyes locked on Olivia. "I didn't expect you to tell the truth. I can guess what happened. You must have fed my mother a bunch of lies. I didn't know she was alive before, so I let you spread your poison. From now on, I'll set the record straight with her. After all, I'm her real daughter."

Olivia laughed like she had just heard the funniest joke ever.
