Chapter 1200 Joseph Might Lose Everything

"Do you really think she saved you?" Declan sneered. "You've had people scheming to get close to you since you were a kid in Neya City. How can you still be so naive?"

"Dad, she didn't even know who I was. I had just arrived in Silverwood the day before. How could she have known?" Everett argued. "I had my doubts too. So when I went to Whisperlyn City, I ran into her a few times on purpose. Cassie didn't seem like a bad person."

"There are plenty of women who can fake it," Declan frowned. "She did all those things, even involving Robert and Helen, and you're still defending her. If your mom hears this, she'll be furious."

"That's why I didn't tell Mom," Everett pouted. "Dad, sometimes what we hear isn't the truth."

"What are you saying?" Declan squinted. "Are you suggesting Olivia and Robert are lying? Everett, be careful with your words. Olivia is your sister; you did a paternity test, and it showed that she's your mom's daughter."

"Dad, I don't know. If you met Cassie, you'd see she's not that bad," Everett said. "And Joseph doesn't seem so terrible either."

"Why would I meet her? I'm here to handle things and bring your mom back quickly." Declan walked to the door and turned back. "I've heard enough. This matter is over."

After Declan left, Everett sighed in frustration.

The next day at noon.

Olivia walked into a high-end restaurant.

"Olivia, it's really you." Isla stood up, eyes wide. She recognized Olivia's bag as a new Selaestan model, not yet in Madison stores, costing eighty thousand dollars. Olivia's dress was clearly expensive too.

"Isla, long time no see." Olivia hugged her briefly. "You don't look well; you seem quite haggard."

"Not well at all." Isla forced a smile. "Laura recently retaliated against the Hayes Group. With the Jude family backing her, they've been suppressing both the Tarro and Hayes families. The Hayes Group is practically defunct, and Benjamin is in prison with no way out."

Her eyes reddened. She truly loved Benjamin.

"He's just a man," Olivia smiled. "Benjamin might be impressive in Silverwood, but compared to men in Madison or abroad, he doesn't measure up. You can find a better man; I can introduce you to one."

Isla shook her head. "I grew up with Benjamin. I've liked him since we were kids. Olivia..."

She paused, then added bitterly, "Forget it. Benjamin offended the Jude family. How could you possibly get him out?"

"Don't be so sure. I have a way," Olivia said, playing with her fingers nonchalantly.

Isla looked up sharply. "Don't lie to me."

"Why would I lie? You once told me about Laura's paternity test, so I'm willing to help you this once." Olivia smiled. "I hope we can continue to cooperate. Honestly, don't you hate Laura?"

"Of course," Isla nodded, hatred flashing in her eyes.

"Cassie's friend is my enemy," Olivia said with a cold smile, raising her glass. "Here's to my return."

At the Hernandez House.

At 8 a.m., Cassie was having breakfast. Oliver, in his smart school uniform, was eating properly beside her, but Sophia was fidgeting, just wanting donuts.

Joseph was spoon-feeding Sophia, coaxing her.

The scene pleased Cassie. She used to do these things herself, but now she didn't have to.

"Daddy, I don't want spaghetti," Sophia pouted.

Oliver teased, "You eat snacks every day. If you keep it up, you'll become a chubby girl. Don't tell anyone at kindergarten you're my sister; it's embarrassing."

"Mommy, he's bullying me again," Sophia complained.

Cassie rubbed her forehead.

Joseph's phone rang; it was Nathaniel.

He answered, and his face darkened slightly. "I'll be at the office right away."

Cassie looked up. "Didn't you say you'd take them to kindergarten? Are you leaving now?"

"Something's wrong at the office," Joseph said, cradling her hair. "I have to go."

Seeing his serious expression, Cassie nodded.

After breakfast, she drove Sophia and Oliver to kindergarten.

Once they were inside, she headed to the office.

Halfway there, she got a call from Laura. "Benjamin has been released."

Cassie was surprised. "The Jude family let him go so quickly? Weren't they supposed to keep him locked up for decades?"

"Yeah, I thought so too," Laura lowered her voice. "But I asked Violet, and the Jude family had no intention of letting him go. He was supposed to be locked up for at least ten years, but suddenly he was released. Violet said it was an order from the President's office."

"Does Benjamin have that kind of influence to get Stanley to save him?" Cassie was stunned.

"I find it strange too. If the Hayes family had that power, Bryan and Abigail wouldn't have had to beg my parents back then," Laura said, puzzled. "But Benjamin is indeed free."

The more Cassie listened, the more uneasy she felt.

"By the way, did you hear about the Hernandez Group?" Laura suddenly asked.

"What about it?" Cassie was confused.

"Didn't Joseph tell you?" Laura was surprised. "The Hernandez Group has been blacklisted for investigation. The authorities have already formed a task force and entered the Hernandez Group."

Cassie remembered Joseph's hurried departure in the morning and felt uneasy. "Why would the Hernandez Group be blacklisted? Isn't Joseph close to the Jude family?"

Laura hesitated. "I heard from Carl that the Hernandez Group might be facing an unprecedented crisis this time, not like before. Joseph might lose everything."

"Are you kidding me?" Cassie couldn't believe it. "The Hernandez Group is at its peak right now."
