Chapter 1219 She Really Is My Mom

She was calmer than Aiden. "Dad, let's look into it. Maybe Mom lost her memory. If she were alive, she wouldn't abandon her parents and company."

Aiden paused. "You're right. Isabella was so filial. If she didn't come back, there must be a reason."

"We need to find her," Cassie said. "Where did you see her? Check the surveillance to see what car she left in and where she went."

She trusted Aiden's skills to find out.

Aiden nodded and stood up. "I saw her near the mall. She must have been shopping. I'll go there now."

"I'll come with you," Cassie said.

Aiden contacted the mall's general manager to check the afternoon's surveillance footage.

When they got to the surveillance room, the staff said, "The footage has been deleted."

Aiden and Cassie were shocked. Aiden quickly asked, "What about the footage at the entrance?"

"It's all gone," the staff said, shaking his head. "From 3 PM to 5 PM, it's all gone."

The general manager glared. "You work here and didn't know the footage was deleted?"

The staff looked embarrassed. "I just went to the restroom, and when I came back, it was gone."

"Can I check your computer?" Cassie asked.

"Of course," the staff said, stepping aside.

Cassie checked the system. "Don't blame him. It was probably a hacker. They used the mall's public network to plant a virus and delete the footage."

The general manager was shocked. "The hacker won't get into the company's private accounts, will they?"

"Don't worry. This hacker only wanted to delete the footage. Such a hacker is top-notch. Your competitors couldn't hire someone like that."

After thanking the general manager, Cassie and Aiden left the mall.

Aiden looked grim. "Cassie, how could it be such a coincidence that the footage was deleted?"

Cassie was deep in thought.

Unwilling to give up, Aiden said, "There must be street surveillance. Let's go to the traffic police."

"Dad, if you can think of it, so can the other party. Even if you go, it might be deleted." Cassie looked at Aiden with helplessness. "You were right; it's too much of a coincidence."

Aiden, usually composed, looked confused and disappointed.

Cassie was also disappointed but said, "If the footage was still there, it might mean that person isn't my mom. But the footage being deleted suggests they don't want you to investigate. Why? Likely, you guessed right; she really is my mom. She recognized you but didn't want to interact and didn't want you to find her."

Aiden was filled with sorrow. "You're right. What I did back then was unforgivable. Even Vera's cheating was public, and people mocked me. Your mom, being so proud, must have despised me. She could ignore me, but you're her daughter. How could she not acknowledge you?"

Cassie's heart ached.

She used to think Robert and Helen were her parents, but later found out they weren't.

She comforted herself, thinking her mother didn't abandon her on purpose; it was an accident.

Although she longed for motherly love, she just hadn't had it for decades. If Isabella didn't want to, she couldn't force it.

After all, she had lived like this for over twenty years and was tougher than many girls her age.

"Dad, Mom's been missing for over two decades, not just a few years. Two decades can change a lot. She might have started a family and had other kids. You said she always had bodyguards, so her status must be unusual. You've lived in Whisperlyn City for so long without seeing her, which means she might have only recently come here. She might have been living abroad." Cassie pointed out.

Aiden gave a bitter smile. "You're right. I've been married and divorced. If your mom were alive, how could she not have remarried? I remember when I saw her this afternoon, there seemed to be a girl with her. I didn't look closely, but she seemed to resemble her. That might be her daughter."

"Really? Then it must be her daughter." Cassie smiled calmly.

But she felt uncomfortable knowing Isabella had started a family and had other children.

"Dad, let it go. Maybe Mom doesn't want to be entangled with the past. If we insist on investigating, what if we meet her husband? He would surely mind that she had a child before. It might even affect her current marriage. Let's consider my mom to have died over twenty years ago." Thinking this way, Cassie felt more at ease.

Aiden felt heartache and guilt. Cassie was too sensible, always not wanting to trouble him or ask for anything. The more she was like this, the more he felt he owed her. "Cassie, your mom isn't like that. She must love you. Maybe, as you said, she doesn't remember."

"If she doesn't remember, why would she come back to delete the footage?" Cassie smirked. "Dad, people change."

Aiden suddenly didn't know what to say, feeling lost.

Had Isabella really remarried?

Did she want to cover up her past for the sake of another family, so she didn't acknowledge Cassie and didn't return to the Brooks family?

Seeing Aiden's distracted look, Cassie said, "Actually, there's another way to confirm if she's my mom. It's simple. Since she's back, she might visit Silverwood to pay respects at my grandparents' graves. We just need to inquire about that."

Aiden's eyes lit up, and he fell silent.

Cassie didn't say anything more.

She actually didn't want to know. The more she knew, the more she felt abandoned by Isabella.

But she didn't blame Isabella. As a mother, Isabella had left her the Peace Group, which was already very generous. She couldn't ask for more.

"Dad, I'm going back to the Hernandez House," Cassie said, "The Hernandez Group hasn't been doing well lately."
