Chapter 850
Joseph winced as he took sharp breaths, his eyes and tone filled with bitterness, then refuted, "You're praising another man."
Cassie replied, "I didn't say anything wrong. I used to think Michael was good for nothing except his looks. But in fact, Michael has his strengths, too."
"Michael has scolded you before," Joseph reminded. Nothing more frustrating than waking up to hear the woman you like praising another man.
"You've scolded me plenty of times, too," Cassie reminded Joseph. "You better not speak ill of others. Or else I'll recount all the times you hurt me in the past."
Joseph buried his handsome face in Cassie's neck in silence, then said, "Honey, I'm hungry."
Cassie mocked with a smile and then answered, "Funny, I'm hungry too. I skipped breakfast, and I'm feeling weak and limp now."
"I'll cook for you," Joseph pleaded and resignedly rubbed Cassie's cheek. "But it might not be as tasty as what you make. Don't be disappointed."
"If it doesn't work out, just fry an egg. I'll teach you." Cassie sighed helplessly.
Under Cassie's guidance, the two had a simple breakfast. Despite Joseph's terrible cooking skills, Cassie felt it was enough to fill her empty stomach because she was starving.
After the meal, Nathaniel called to ask about work matters. After giving instructions, Joseph added, "Help me get some clothes to Willow Creek Estates. I'll be staying here from now on."
Nathaniel coughed and said, "Alright."
Cassie snatched the phone and yelled, "No need."
Then she hung up.
"Cassie..." Joseph was a bit angry.
"I don't want to live together for now," Cassie said, then stood up. "If it's necessary to stay overnight, I'll come to your place. By the way, remember to hire a maid. I don't want to be your housekeeper."
Joseph became a bit angry, and Cassie smiled. "Did I say something wrong? My place is too small, without a maid's room. If you move in, I'll have to take care of all your meals, clothes, and socks. Sorry, my status is much more noble now. I won't do anything that damages my delicate hands. Also, whatever good treatment Megan enjoyed before, I should enjoy too."
Joseph was very displeased, about to speak, but Cassie's slender fingers pressed against his lips and added, "Don't talk to me about sacrificing for love. I love you, but I want to love myself a bit more."
"Alright. I'll listen to you," Joseph said helplessly. He had never intended to mistreat Cassie. "I'll hire a maid and bring Rosalind over, and you can stay at my place. Is that fine?"
"No. There should be some distance between two people occasionally. Being too clingy will make things dull," Cassie answered and decisively shook her head.
"Honey, I won't get tired of you," Joseph coaxed softly.
Cassie looked at Joseph strangely and then added, "No. I meant I'll get tired of you."
Joseph fell silent.
What did she mean by getting tired of him?
Shouldn't the longer they stick together, the deeper their relationship becomes?
Joseph took a deep breath, his handsome face looking extremely unpleasant. Gritting his teeth, he retorted, "Cassie, I'll give you a chance to speak again."
"I didn't say anything wrong... Ah...." Cassie didn't finish her sentence before Joseph turned around and playfully spanked her twice.
Though it's not hard, Cassie was extremely angry and yelled, "Joseph, how dare you hit me."
