Chapter 1007 If I Can Kiss You, I'll Let You Go
Cassie was floored, thinking, 'Joseph's libido is still so strong with erectile dysfunction . If he ever get better, who knows what'll happen.'
She feared her peaceful days were numbered.
"Some illnesses aren't easy to fix." Joseph sighed.
Cassie tried to keep her cool. "Why bother? What if it doesn't work? Maybe you should just accept it."
Her big eyes blinked innocently, like she was talking to a rebellious teenager.
Joseph stared at her for a moment, then suddenly smiled. "After being with you, I don't want to accept fate anymore."
Cassie was livid. "Did you even ask me? Even if you get better, I still won't like you or forgive you. Think about all the crap you've done."
"Yeah, I'm a jerk. I need to spend my life making up for it," Joseph admitted. He'd tried to let her go, but he was lost without her.
Even at work, he felt like he'd lost his spark.
"Take this, and I'll let you go," Joseph said, handing her another birth control pill.
Cassie was speechless. 'I haven't even been intimate with David, so why should I take it?' she thought. But she didn't want Joseph to know that.
In the end, she took the pill and swallowed it. "Fine, I'll take it. David and I do it all the time anyway. If I don't get pregnant this time, I'll next time."
Joseph's face darkened with anger.
Even though he'd expected this and that's why he gave her the pill, hearing it from Cassie hurt.
"Excuse me," Cassie said, pushing his hand away.
She needed to leave. If she didn't, she feared David would come looking for her.
"I'll leave something, and then I'll let you go," Joseph's voice was hoarse. He leaned in.
Cassie's mind exploded.
When Joseph finally left, there were two hickeys on her chest.
She was so mad her face turned red.
"Joseph, you jerk," she raised her hand to hit him again.
Joseph easily blocked her hand with a smile. "As long as you don't mind David seeing it, go ahead."
"You pervert." Cassie glared at him.
"Alright, you can go now," Joseph said, fixing her clothes and opening the door.
Cassie looked around, saw no one in the hallway, and quickly slipped out.
Joseph leaned against the wall, watching her through the crack in the door. He chuckled and touched the corner of his mouth.
'To be honest, this is kinda fun,' he thought.
Cassie didn't go straight to David; she went to the restroom first.
Joseph had kissed off her lipstick, so she touched up her makeup before heading downstairs.
"Cassie, where'd you go? I called you, but you didn't answer. I was looking everywhere for you," David said, walking over quickly, his face full of concern.
"I went to the restroom. I saw you chatting with Mr. Dixon earlier, so I didn't want to interrupt," Cassie fibbed.
"Is that so?" David's heart sank. He'd asked a female guest to check the restroom earlier, and she said no one was there.
David knew Cassie was lying. He hadn't seen Joseph around either.
David's hand clenched into a fist in his pocket, but he still smiled gracefully. "Yeah, I met Mr. Dixon tonight. He even asked me to bring you over to meet him."
Cassie wasn't a fan of dealing with political figures; she thought they were all too complicated.
But since David mentioned it, she had to go with him.
Cassie ended up drinking quite a bit while mingling with the political crowd.
Midway through, David took her aside to rest and handed her a glass of water. "Sorry for making you drink so much. I'll handle the rest. You stay here and rest."
"Okay." Cassie nodded. It wasn't that she couldn't drink; she just didn't like drinking with political figures.
She felt she had enough money now and didn't like the feeling of having to please people.
David patted her head and was about to leave when Cassie suddenly looked at his back and said, "David, your main purpose tonight was to meet political figures, right?"
David stiffened for a moment but then turned around with a helpless smile. "In our pharmaceutical business, we need some inside information. I used to be at a disadvantage because I lacked it. This is an opportunity to meet these people, but my main concern is still you."
"I see." Cassie smiled. "You can tell me directly next time. I won't mind."
"Okay," David smiled and turned to leave, but his face turned grim.
He didn't rush to meet the political figures but instead went to a secluded spot to meet Felix.
Felix was in a foul mood. "David, you're just in time. I need your advice. I want to deal with Joseph, preferably make him disappear."
"Why do you suddenly hate him so much?" David raised an eyebrow.
Felix had always been jealous of Joseph. He hated being overshadowed by him but ultimately just wanted to surpass him.
Now Felix was talking about making Joseph disappear, which surprised David.
"He's repeatedly disrespected me. Last time, I had people ambush him on the road to cause an accident, but he escaped. This time, at the party, Laura embarrassed the Chamberlain family. I can't swallow this," Felix said coldly. "Don't you hate him?"
David swirled his wine glass and smiled. "Given Joseph's current status, if Mr. Chamberlain wants him dead, the Hernandez family wouldn't dare make a fuss."
Felix sighed. "Killing him here won't work. The Jude family has a good relationship with Joseph. If he dies here, they'll suspect us. Even if they don't investigate, they'll distance themselves from the Chamberlain family."
"But we can still teach him a lesson." David smiled.
Felix's eyes lit up, and after a moment, he said viciously, "Tell me more."
At eleven o'clock at night, after saying goodbye to Laura, Cassie left with David.
About two or three kilometers from the hotel, she suddenly received a call from Laura.
"Cassie, are you okay?" Laura's voice sounded anxious.
