Chapter 1183 You Really Understand Men

"Bernice, quit acting all innocent," Lucas sneered. "Everyone knows Gary played you back then."

Lucas was surprised at his own harshness. He hadn't planned to humiliate Bernice, but her attitude got to him.

Bernice's eyes widened slightly, clearly not expecting such words from Lucas.

For a moment, the air was tense. Lucas thought she'd get mad, but she just lifted her chin and said, "Are you mad because I turned you down and you didn't get to play with me?"

Lucas's face darkened. He stepped closer. "Bernice, you're pushing it."

"I don't know about pushing it. I'm not going to act all pitiful like I just loved the wrong guy," Bernice shrugged, calm but self-deprecating. "Even if I did, you wouldn't feel sorry for me; you'd just think I was being fake."

Her bluntness caught Lucas off guard. After a moment, a strange light flickered in his eyes. "You're right, Bernice. You know me well, even though we haven't known each other long."

"After a few interactions, I get what kind of person you are. Aren't all of you the same?" Bernice grabbed a light green dress from the coat rack. "Women get more attached the longer they sleep with someone. But you men just get bored."

"You really get men. Did Gary teach you that?" Lucas's eyes flashed sharply.

"You already know about Gary and me," Bernice said indifferently. "Please, just leave. I need to change."

Lucas shut the door and sat down. "Well, go ahead and change."

Bernice cursed inwardly. 'Great, this lounge doesn't even have a bathroom. If he doesn't leave, where can I change?'

"Want me to help you?" Lucas asked lazily, crossing his legs.

"I'll change in the bathroom outside," Bernice said.

"Go ahead. But for big stars like you, who knows if there's a hidden camera in there? It'd be interesting if it got uploaded online," Lucas laughed.

Bernice felt stuck. She couldn't borrow someone else's lounge without raising questions. If people found out Lucas was in her lounge, they'd accuse her of seducing Sarah's fiancé.

She sighed. She'd been through so much, yet Lucas still wouldn't leave her alone.

With no other option, she sat down, not moving.

"Aren't you going to change?" Lucas said sarcastically.

"Yeah, but I'm afraid once I take off my clothes, you won't let me put them back on," Bernice said coolly.

Lucas looked at her and laughed. He hadn't met such an interesting woman in a long time.

"Bernice, why'd you close the door?" Stella's voice suddenly came from outside. "I'm so mad. I went to find those stylists, and they all said they were busy. I even talked to the head of the art department, and he said we were late and had too many demands."

The door swung open.

Stella saw Lucas standing there and was instantly stunned. "Mr. Nelson," she stammered.

Lucas gave a low response and walked out briskly.

Stella watched him leave, then turned to Bernice with wide eyes.

"Don't get the wrong idea," Bernice said, feeling helpless.

"Of course not. What’s there to misunderstand? He probably scolded you for being late, right?" Stella said indignantly. "Did you explain to him?"

Bernice just smiled. She figured Stella knew her well enough, so no need to explain.

"Bernice, who did your hair? It's gorgeous," Stella suddenly exclaimed. "It's stunning."

"I did it myself," Bernice replied. "Remember? Before I had a stylist, I learned from online tutorials."

"Oh, right. It's been two years. I didn't think we'd be back to this," Stella sighed.

When Bernice came out after changing, the first scene had already been shot.

Callie was fuming. "Where's Bernice? How long does it take to put on makeup and change clothes? Did I pay her to do makeup?"

"Ms. Gray, I finished her styling an hour ago," the stylist said.

"Then why isn't she here yet? If she's late again tomorrow, she should be replaced," Callie snapped.

"Ms. Gray, I'm sorry. It won't happen again tomorrow," Bernice said as she walked over. She wore a light green dress with a purple flower on her right temple. Her smooth forehead and small face were exposed, a look that was a test for many actresses but flawless for her. Her eyes sparkled, her lips were red, her teeth white—she was stunning.

If most actresses needed beauty filters, Bernice looked like she was sculpted by a beauty camera.

The set went quiet. Even Lucas, smoking in the pavilion, saw her and his pupils contracted, a smile playing on his lips.

Bernice knew her beauty would spark another wave of discussion.

Sarah's heart ached with jealousy. Despite the stylist's careful work, she was naturally less delicate than Bernice. Now, even her makeup was overshadowed.

She shot a look at the stylist.

The stylist snapped out of it and said in a panic, "Ms. Gray, I'm sorry. The look I did for Ms. Ramsey wasn't like this. Considering she's the second female lead and her scenes are darker, I made her makeup a bit sharper."

Callie instantly understood. The assistant director, seeing Sarah's expression, immediately criticized, "Bernice, I know you want to look beautiful, but not every role needs to be glamorous. The styling is to highlight a character's personality. You're stealing the lead actress's thunder."
