Chapter 1055 A Fate Worse Than Death
Wyatt quickly understood. "Mr. Hernandez, do you want me to go undercover in the Chamberlain family?"
Joseph nodded, impressed by his ability. "Wyatt, think about the Powell family. They have always served the Hernandez family. The Hernandez family has invested so much in you. If the Hernandez family falls, you can leave, but you cannot betray us. According to Dragon's rules, traitors are executed. If it weren't for your indulgence towards Athena, would the Hernandez family have ended up in this situation today?"
Wyatt felt deeply ashamed. He thought to himself, 'Yes, it was all because I was infatuated with Athena. If it weren't for me, Athena wouldn't have had the chance to steal the chip data from the Hernandez family's lab and kill Liam.'
"Mr. Hernandez, I'm sorry. I'm willing to do penance," Wyatt said, looking up with hatred, "I was blind before and deceived by Athena. I will never do it again. I swear to be loyal to you for the rest of his life."
Joseph said coldly, "You're overthinking it. I won't keep a traitor by my side, nor will I trust you. I want you to complete this task. After that, you can leave with your child. If you fail, I will fail you and your child, too."
Wyatt's weathered face blushed with shame.
"Mr. Hernandez, don't worry. Wyatt will get the job done," Athena quickly said. She knew that their lives were now tied to Wyatt, and she was afraid of death.
Wyatt looked at Athena with extreme disgust and hatred. He had loved Athena deeply. For her, he had chosen to be a traitor.
Joseph raised an eyebrow at Athena. "Of course, if Wyatt is going undercover, you have to go too. I believe you will do better than him."
Athena was shocked. "Mr. Hernandez, I'm pregnant."
"You're pregnant, but you hook up with Dennis." Joseph's indifferent gaze swept to her belly. "Anyway, the fetus is stable now, so you can do what needs to be done."
Wyatt and Athena were both shocked, not expecting Joseph to be so ruthless.
Joseph threatened. "Why are you looking at me like that? I'm just fulfilling your wish. Don't worry. You don't have to do much. Just cooperate with Wyatt and gain the Chamberlains' trust. After all, if you disappear, the Chamberlains will suspect Wyatt. Also, if anything happens to the baby, I won't give you the antidote."
Athena was terrified. She could only look to Wyatt for help, hoping he would speak up for her. "Wyatt, do you want me to have a relationship with Dennis?"
"Mr. Hernandez is right. Isn't that what you wanted? Athena, I only want the child instead of you," Wyatt said coldly.
"Alright, you can leave now. I will let someone drive you out." With that, Joseph had Joel untie them. "Don't try any tricks."
Athena followed Wyatt out in a daze. When she tried to grab Wyatt as they got into the car, he coldly pushed her away.
The car quickly drove them away.
It wasn't until the car disappeared that Cameron walked in from outside the cabin. "Your plan is quite good, but Athena killed Liam. She should pay the price."
"Dad, don't worry. Whether Athena succeeds or fails, she will live a life worse than death," Joseph replied.
An hour later, Joseph and Cameron stood on a cliff.
Below was a raging sea. Cameron looked down, tears welling up in his eyes.
Liam had been thrown down from here.
"This cliff is too high, and the waves are strong. I even broke Liam's leg and beat him until he vomited blood. There was almost no chance of survival." The more Joseph said, the more regretful he became. He knelt in front of Cameron, crying out hoarsely, "Dad, I'm sorry. It was my stupidity that killed Liam."
"It's not all your fault. I bear a lot of responsibility, too. If I hadn't left back then, your mom wouldn't have misunderstood, and Marcus wouldn't have had the opportunity," Cameron said with a grim expression, "Marcus is truly vicious. Just because I ruined his plan back then, he pretended that Liam was his son for over twenty years. For the past twenty years, because of this misunderstanding, you and Liam have been fighting, and he finally pits you and Liam against each other. That was his real goal."
"Dad, don't worry. I will destroy the Chamberlain family and make Marcus pay." At this moment, Joseph was consumed by an endless flame of hatred.
Marcus, David, and Megan were all his enemies.
At the Wit Group, David had been in a bad mood lately, his face constantly gloomy.
Lola brought him a cup of coffee and then stood behind him, massaging his shoulders. As she massaged, her hands started to wander.
"Watch the occasion," David grabbed her hand, warning, "The incident with Arthur was a lesson."
"Don't worry. I've locked the door," Lola said with a hint of jealousy, blowing into his ear, "Mr. Foster, you've been going to Miss Ray every time lately. Do you think she's better and you don't need me anymore?"
"Are you jealous?" David raised an eyebrow.
"Of course, you were my first man," Lola said coyly.
David sat still. Lola knew his hypocritical nature too well and immediately kissed him.
Suddenly, the assistant's urgent voice came from the door. "Ms. Brooks, why are you here?"
Before the words were finished, someone was already opening the office door.
David was startled and immediately pushed Lola away to straighten his clothes. "Hide in the cabinet in the lounge."
In broad daylight, if Cassie came in and found the door locked with Lola inside, she would definitely be suspicious. He couldn't allow that to happen.
After Lola hid, he walked over to open the door.
Cassie stood at the door, smiling, holding a bag in her left hand and two cups of milk tea in her right. She asked, "Why did you lock the door? Were you hiding with some beauty in there?"
"I wish I had a beauty, but you've kept me waiting," David laughed, speaking in a surprised tone, "I didn't expect you to come to my office. I just went to the bathroom and locked the door to keep unrelated people out."
"I was just passing by after running some errands and thought I'd come up to see you. I bought two cups of milk tea. Want to drink together?" Cassie said, pretending to be a little shy.
David's eyes lit up, and he immediately let her in.
As soon as Cassie walked in, she smelled a strong scent of women's perfume in the air. She knew Lola used the perfume.
Although Lola was his secretary, it was normal for his office to have this scent, but the smell was too strong.
