Chapter 1270: How about I call you Handsome Grandpa?

"Hey, Oliver, chill out. Mommy's got this, okay? I'll get Sophia back," Cassie tried to calm him down.

Even without Sophia's heads-up, Cassie already knew David and Olivia were behind this mess.

She quickly dialed Joel, "Hey, you know where David and Olivia are?"

"David's in Silverwood, and Olivia's holed up at the Wittelsbach family villa," Joel said, sounding all stressed. He'd heard about the situation too. "There've been a ton of cops around the villa lately. Something must've gone down with Everett, and Mr. Jude's got people guarding them."

Cassie went pale.

David's in Silverwood; even if she got to him, it'd be too late.

"Joel, get Nathaniel to the hospital to look after Joseph. I'm heading to the Wittelsbach villa myself."

Dangerous or not, she had to nab Olivia today.

"Ms. Brooks, I'm coming with you," Joel said, not missing a beat.

Cassie hung up and turned to Joseph, "Joey, I gotta go out for a bit. Stay put in the ward, okay? Nathaniel will be here soon."

Joseph freaked out, "I wanna go with you."

"Listen, Sophia's missing, and I need to find her. Joey, if you run off, I won't talk to you anymore," Cassie said and bolted without looking back.

Joel's car pulled up fast. She hopped in, and five or six more cars followed, packed with Dragon's top bodyguards.

"I brought the rest of Dragon's crew. The others are digging into who snatched Sophia," Joel explained.

"Any leads?" Cassie asked.

"The kidnappers are linked to Alessio Rossi, who got out of prison last week. He was a big-time crook in Whisperlyn City a few years back. He's got a bunch of goons who'll do anything for cash," Joel said.

"That's gotta be Olivia. She's low on henchmen, so she probably hired these guys," Cassie clenched her fists. "I just hope she took Sophia to get at me."

Cassie was terrified Olivia might harm Sophia.

The more she thought about it, the more scared she got.

Sophia was her world. She'd trade her life for Sophia's in a heartbeat.

On the way, Cassie called Michael, "For Sophia, even if they shoot at me, I'm busting into the Wittelsbach villa today."

"Is Olivia nuts? Going after kids now?" Michael sounded freaked. "If things get hairy, stall. I'll be there ASAP. With me around, the guards won't dare shoot."

"Thanks."

Cassie was genuinely grateful.

No matter how much she'd disliked Michael before, she was thankful for anyone willing to help her and Joseph now. "Don't tell Laura. She's pregnant, and it's not safe for her to come."

"Got it."

Fifty minutes later.

A long line of cars pulled up at the villa entrance.

Cassie got out, and a row of guards blocked her, "Who are you?"

"I'm here to see Olivia and Isabella," Cassie said, ice-cold.

The guard eyed the people behind her and asked, "Got an appointment?"

Cassie stayed silent.

The guard, with a voice like steel, said, "You roll up with this many people, it's obvious you're here to stir up trouble. Get lost. The folks inside are VIPs. If you try to force your way in, I'll have to shoot."

A dozen more guards stood behind him, ready to back him up.

Cassie felt like her chest was gonna burst from anger, but she had to keep it together. She couldn't go all reckless and risk her life; she needed to save Sophia. "I need to see Declan."

"Mr. Wittelsbach isn't here."

"I don't care. I have to get in today. Someone inside kidnapped my kid, and she's in serious danger," Cassie said, her eyes red and locked onto the guard's.

The guard frowned, "Our job is to protect the people inside. I can't let you in."

Cassie didn't expect the Wittelsbach family villa to be this locked down.

She took a deep breath, tried to calm herself, and pulled out her phone to call Declan.

The phone rang for what felt like forever before he picked up. She immediately blurted out, "Declan, please let me into your villa. I need to see Olivia. My kid's missing, and I know Olivia took her."

"Mommy," Sophia's voice suddenly came through the phone.

Cassie was stunned, thinking she misheard, "Sophia?"

"Mommy, it's so scary. A bad person kidnapped me, and they wanted to throw me into a pond. Declan saved me," Sophia said, crying. "Mommy, I miss you so much. I won't go buy candy anymore. It's too scary."

Cassie's heart nearly shattered, "Sophia, let Declan take the phone."

Declan quickly got on the line, "Wait there. I'll come over soon. Sophia's safe."

"Thank you, Declan," Cassie said, her voice breaking.

Declan felt all kinds of conflicted.

He was serious and gloomy.

He looked down at Sophia, still crying, her tear-streaked face, pink cheeks, and princess dress. She was so cute that even a cold guy like him couldn't help but soften.

But someone actually tried to hurt this kid.

Even wanted to kill her.

And that someone was his own wife.

Declan found it hard to believe that the once beautiful Isabella had turned into this.

"Don't cry. You're safe now. I'll take you to your mommy," Declan said, patting her head. He discreetly pulled a few strands of her hair and let them fall into his palm.

"Ouch," Sophia quickly covered her head.

"Sorry, Grandpa's hand got caught in your hair," Declan said, slipping the hair into his pocket without missing a beat.

"Grandpa?" Sophia's eyes widened, and she stopped crying. "You're so handsome, just like my daddy. Your eyes are blue. You don't look old enough to be a grandpa."

Declan chuckled, "Given my age, you should call me grandpa."

"Then I'll call you handsome grandpa," Sophia said, looking up with her big, clear eyes.

"Okay," Declan said, gently pinching her pink cheeks. Not used to dealing with little girls, he suddenly asked, "Do you want some candy?"

Sophia shuddered, her face going pale, "No, no, I don't want candy anymore. If it weren't for candy, I wouldn't have been kidnapped. If it weren't for candy, I wouldn't have almost been hit by a car last time."
