When Joseph got to the hospital, Mabel had already finished her emergency treatment. Cassie and Celeste, for once, weren't arguing but sitting quietly in the ward.
As soon as Joseph walked in, Celeste asked, "Did they catch Marcus?"
"Yeah, they did," Joseph nodded. "It all happened so fast. The police have detained everyone in the Chamberlain family. Marcus will face kidnapping charges, and the Chamberlain Group's dirty tricks against competitors and theft of the Hernandez Group's chip data will be exposed."
"That's awesome," Celeste said excitedly. "Does this mean we can reclaim the chip's ownership from the Lundrigans Group?"
"It's tricky. The Lundrigans Group can claim the Chamberlain Group gave them the data to gain favor. We can stop them from selling the chip, but we can't sanction them. Still, this will hit the Lundrigans Group hard. Their reputation will be trashed internationally, and it'll be tough for them to recover," Joseph explained.
Celeste nodded. "Maybe that's the best we can hope for. Joseph, you've done a great job. Honestly, after everything that happened to the Hernandez Group, Isaac and I thought we were done for."
"Actually, I've been busy dating lately. My mom's been handling the company's affairs," Joseph said, glancing at Mabel on the hospital bed.
Celeste was surprised and looked down sadly. She used to be sharp-tongued, but the recent events had made her reflect and calm down a lot.
"Joseph," Isaac burst in. Seeing Mabel with an oxygen tube, his eyes immediately reddened.
"Isaac, Marcus has been caught. Dennis previously harmed Richard. Now you can avenge Richard," Joseph said, looking at Isaac. "I know you've always blamed my mom. If she hadn't chosen Marcus back then, Richard wouldn't have ended up like this. This time, to find evidence of Marcus's crimes, she let herself be kidnapped by him. Even though we had a tracker on her, she still suffered."
Isaac sighed heavily. "I don't really blame her anymore. We're all family. It's just that seeing her reminds me of Richard, who became mentally impaired. So, I avoided seeing her. Joseph, how is she now?"
"She suffered a severe head injury and is still in a coma, but she's out of the most dangerous phase," Celeste explained.
"That's good," Isaac nodded heavily. "Let's not tell Dad and Mom about this. They're old and shouldn't have to worry."
"After Marcus was caught, Larry was also detained. I plan to take this chance to acquire the Chamberlain Group," Joseph suddenly said. "The Chamberlain Group had invested twenty billion dollars in electronics. Many products are already semi-finished. If we integrate the Hernandez Group's latest technology, we can save a lot of costs and expand production."
Isaac's eyes lit up. "That's right. The Chamberlain Group's equipment might be useless to other companies, but it's a great asset for the Hernandez Group. Joseph, you're really smart."
Celeste was excited too. "The Hernandez family can be number one in Madison again."
Joseph nodded, feeling a bit excited himself. The Hernandez Group had been struggling, but now it was bouncing back quickly.
Isaac noticed Joseph's bloodshot eyes and Cassie, who had been quiet. "Joseph, take Ms. Brooks home to rest. You've both been up all night. Celeste and I can handle things here. It's our turn to help the Hernandez family."
Joseph hesitated, but Cassie took his hand. "Let's get some rest. We'll come back in the afternoon."
"Alright," Joseph agreed, leaving with Cassie.
"Mabel won't wake up until later. Staying here won't help. It's better to rest so you have the energy to handle more," Cassie said gently.
Joseph held her hand tightly and, after a long silence, said, "It's a pity Liam can't see all this."
Cassie felt a sudden pang of sadness. If it weren't for Liam, maybe she, Oliver, and Sophia wouldn't be here now.
"Marcus will get the death penalty," she said after a pause.
"With all the bad things he's done, it's certain. Who knows how many other crimes he's committed?" Joseph frowned. "David worked for him before, doing many illegal things. I threatened him with his son Hugo. He might give up David."
Cassie's eyes lit up. "If David is caught, Arthur's revenge will be complete, and I can divorce him immediately."
"He will be. David's status is thanks to the Chamberlain family. Now that they're down, his good days are over." Joseph wrapped his arm around her waist and chuckled. "You were worried about Olivia before. I'm about to be the richest man in Madison again. Cassie, no one can hurt you and the kids anymore. I'll protect you all."
"Who knows what will happen when you're the richest man again? Even when you were down, Marigold was interested in you. What if another Megan shows up?" Cassie teased.
"Cassie, I swear, I won't make the same mistake again. One mistake was enough to make me miserable." Joseph hugged her tightly. "When I divorced you, I lost everything and almost my life. After we got back together, I rose again. You're my good luck charm."
Cassie playfully rolled her eyes. "So, you got back with me just for good luck?"
"Cassie, that hurts. Don't you know my feelings for you? I can give you all my shares in the Hernandez Group and work for you," Joseph said, holding her tightly. "I'll transfer them this afternoon. Please don't leave me again."
"I don't want it," Cassie quickly hugged his neck. "Silly, I was teasing you. Don't I know your feelings for me?"
"But I really want to give it to you," Joseph said softly.
"Stop it. Just give it to Sophia and Oliver in the future. I'm not interested in your money," Cassie said, winking playfully. "I'm only interested in you."
