Chapter 1597 Disgust

Michael finally finished his outburst, and Blake said, "Mr. Jude, you just fired several employees from the marketing department. These people are long-time employees of the company, and two of them are even in management. Given that many people have recently left and we are short-staffed, could you consider letting them stay a few more days until we hire new employees?"

Michael's anger, which had just subsided a bit, flared up again. "Let them stay and insult me some more?"

Blake was in a difficult position. "But the company relies heavily on the marketing department to handle many things. If something goes wrong there now..."

"Just hire people. As long as the salary is high, are you afraid you won't find anyone?" Michael interrupted impatiently. He had never been publicly insulted by employees before, and combined with the issues with Laura, his frustration and irritation had reached their peak.

Blake lowered his head and smiled bitterly, nodding before turning to leave.

Since Michael wouldn't listen to Blake's advice, there was nothing Blake could do. After all, the company wasn't his.

For someone like Michael, even if the company went under, he would still be well-off. Blake, on the other hand, had a mortgage and car payments. If the company continued to decline, Blake needed to start planning for his future.

The office was quiet for a while before Michael mustered the courage to pick up his phone and open last night's news segment. Laura appeared only briefly, but some enthusiastic netizens had compiled all her clips. She occasionally stood beside Violet and the First Lady of Serindale, looking elegant and dignified.

Was this the same Laura who used to sleep beside him?

Was this the Laura who always argued with him?

Michael felt a bit dazed.

Did he not understand her well enough?

Such a state banquet was something even his parents had never been qualified to attend, yet she went and handled it with ease.

If they hadn't divorced, as Laura's husband, he would be incredibly proud right now.

Many men would surely envy him.

But now, others would only mock and insult him behind his back.

Even Megan, before her surgeries and disabilities, couldn't compare to today's Laura, let alone now. Michael frowned deeply. Every time they met, Megan was always crying and looking pitiful.

In the past, he would feel sorry and guilty, but now, he found it increasingly annoying.

Women could live in many different ways, just like Laura. Despite being hurt by Nathan, having her reputation ruined, and even being hurt and divorced by him, she didn't wallow in self-pity and instead shone even brighter.

He was a fool. He had truly missed out on so much.

Michael held his head in his hands, lost in thought.

The phone on the desk rang and rang, but he couldn't be bothered to answer.

In the villa, Megan made call after call, but Michael wouldn't pick up.

In her anger, she grabbed a throw pillow and hurled it at the TV.

The news segment from last night was being replayed.

She was furious.

Laura had accompanied Violet to the state banquet and received high praise.

Why?

Megan believed all of this should have been hers. She was Michael's wife; she should have been the one beside the First Lady.

Why was Laura, a divorced woman, still clinging to Carl and Violet?

Megan was on the verge of losing her mind.

She had spent decades meticulously planning, keeping Michael as a backup, only to end up married to this useless man. Now, Michael wouldn't even answer her calls.

Michael must be regretting it.

Seeing Laura living so gloriously, while he was stuck with Megan, a cripple, he didn't want to deal with her at all.

After calming down, Megan's eyes were filled with malice.

Michael was losing patience with her. She couldn't keep wasting time with him, and with the Ocean Blue group deteriorating, there was no hope. She might as well...

Her phone suddenly rang. It was Landon. "Honey, I miss you. Want to come over? I'm at the hotel."

"Sure, I'll be there soon," Megan replied sweetly.

Megan went upstairs to dress up carefully, made an excuse to the housekeeper, and had the maid, Vivienne, take her out.

Recently, Megan had been meeting Landon frequently, and Vivienne was a bit worried. "Megan, you've been seeing Landon a lot lately. Won't Michael find out?"

"He won't. Michael doesn't come over or care about me," Megan said sadly. "I'm a woman too, and I'm very lonely. Don't worry, Landon has bought a house for your child, and I haven't shorted you on money. Even if you get fired in the future, you'll have something to fall back on."

Vivienne felt a bit more at ease.

If it weren't for the large hush money Landon had given her, she wouldn't be helping Megan hide this. "Megan, that sir seems quite wealthy."

"Of course he's rich. Even if he never works again, his money would last several lifetimes."

Over time, Megan had learned about Landon's background. Although he wasn't the heir of his family, he had been pampered by his family and brother since childhood and had a lot of money, much more than Michael.

In the past, Megan would have hoped to find a man with both money and power. Now, with her leg issues, she had to lower her standards.

However, after testing the waters a few times, she realized Landon had no intention of marrying her. He was fine with having a lover, but she didn't want to be just that.

Since that was the case, she had to think of other ways.

Megan looked at the bell on her wrist, which had hypnotic properties.

She wanted Landon to love and pamper her for life.

Megan's lips curled into a slight smile.

When Megan arrived at the hotel, the door opened.

Landon pulled her inside, and they quickly ended up in bed.

Although it was all an act, Landon was quite satisfied with Megan's skills in bed.

He was uninhibited in this regard and didn't care if a woman had been with many men. He cared more about her skills.

This game was quite enjoyable for him.

But unlike before, he kept hearing a bell ringing in his ears.

"Landon, look at me," Megan said, pulling him closer.

Sweating profusely, Landon almost lost himself, but he had come prepared.

He was secretly shocked. Megan was truly wicked.

But since she wanted to play tricks, he didn't mind playing along.

In the DreamDazzle Beauty Co. president's office.

By the floor-to-ceiling window, Cassie received a call from Landon and was slightly surprised. "Are you okay?"

Landon replied, "Luckily, you had an expert prepare me beforehand. Megan is quite cunning. She started by putting things in my food and drink every day, and today she tried to hypnotize me."
