Chapter 504

"Nina," Lucas murmured, a frown creasing his forehead. "It's her again."

He fell into a contemplative silence before finally voicing his thoughts. "She'd better not be involved in this. If she is, I won't hesitate to kill her."

As the afternoon sun began to wane, the results of the autopsy were delivered to Joseph.

"Her parents have conducted a thorough genetic comparison to confirm the identity of the charred body. It's Joyce," Walter relayed, observing as Joseph clutched his temples, his body trembling with the weight of the revelation.

"Joseph..."

Joseph's voice emerged hoarse and strained. "And Joyce's parents?"

"They're devastated. The loss of a child is a burden no parent should bear. They're demanding an explanation from you," Walter sighed heavily.

"Make sure they're compensated generously," Joseph instructed.

Walter hesitated before adding, "Moreover, the individuals who tricked the guard and set the house ablaze last night have been apprehended. They... they're associated with Nina. They've been covertly working for her."

"Nina, it's her..."

Joseph's hand slammed onto the table as he rose to his feet, his face a mask of fury.

Michael had already alerted the authorities, who were en route to the Zenith family residence to make an arrest.

"Tip the police to pursue maximum sentencing. I want her to rot in jail for the rest of her life," Joseph commanded.

"Understood," came the assenting response.

At the Zenith family estate, the warm sunshine bathed the verdant grass. Beneath a grand tree in the courtyard, a large table was set. William sat comfortably, engrossed in his oil painting, while his wife quietly prepared tea for him.

Nina, emerging from the villa with her bag in tow, took in the scene, a softness creeping into her heart.

"Laura, are you heading to the company?" William called out to her.

"Dad," Nina approached him, "I'm planning to meet with Mr. Hernandez..."

William's voice was steady, his words measured. "Don't overexert yourself. If the Hernandez family wishes to suppress us, there's little we can do. Let it be. As long as our family is united, it doesn't matter if we have to relocate to a smaller city. Your mother and I are more concerned about your well-being than your business pursuits."

Nina's mother nodded in agreement. "Your father and I are aging. We've never been concerned about your financial success. Your safety and happiness are all that matter to us."

"Okay," Nina conceded, warmth spreading through her heart. "I'll make one last attempt. If I still can't secure the chip, I'll sell the company. Perhaps we can leave New York after that..."

No sooner had she finished her sentence than a swarm of police officers stormed the premises.

"Nina, we've uncovered evidence linking you to a murder case. You're under arrest," one officer announced, handcuffing her on the spot.
