Joseph slipped into a pensive silence.
Cassie wasn't in the mood for shopping when they arrived at the mall. She aimlessly wandered into stores, casually glanced at an item, only to place it back.
Joseph turned to the sales associate and declared, ""We'll take everything she's touched.""
Cassie was taken aback, ""Why? I was just looking...""
""If you like it, it's yours,"" Joseph said firmly, brooking no argument. ""I want my lady to have whatever she desires. Money is no object.""
The sales associate gushed, ""Wow, your boyfriend is amazing. I've never seen a guy be so generous to his girlfriend.""
Cassie paused, heart pounding as she looked up at Joseph, so tall and handsome standing before her. She even felt a pang of guilt for any anger she had harbored against him earlier.
Joseph might not have always seemed thoughtful, and to others, it might have looked like she was embarrassingly infatuated with him. But love's warmth is felt by those who harbor it, and she knew well the extent of his affection for her.
""No need to buy so much. Just a few pieces are fine,"" she insisted.
Cassie tried on a selection with care, her slim figure and fair skin making everything look great. Joseph decided to buy it all, and she only found out after trying everything that he had quietly paid.
The clothes were expensive, prompting Cassie to cling to his arm, worried. ""You didn't have to buy so much.""
""It's fine. As long as you're happy,"" said Joseph casually.
""Thank you."" Moved, Cassie tiptoed to plant a kiss on his cheek, blushing red after the act.
Joseph's gaze intensified as he noticed her blushing cheeks. The advice from Lucas rang true—retail therapy often did wonders for a woman's mood.

Cassie donned her new outfit to inspect the construction at Garden Heights. The project had reached the masonry stage, and after surveying the site, she was discussing details with the foreman when David strolled in, his gaze landing on her attire. ""That's a beautiful outfit. Is it new?""
""Yes."" Remembering it was Joseph's gift, Cassie beamed with sweetness.
That twinkle of joy in her eyes momentarily dazed David, a twinge of unease settling in his heart.
Just then, Cassie's phone rang with an unfamiliar number.
""Hello, Cassie Brooks?"" said a voice. ""There's a woman who's passed out in her rental. I've called several people from her contacts, but no one’s coming...""
Cassie quickly responded, ""Please call an ambulance to the nearest hospital. I'll be right there, and I'll cover the costs.""
After hanging up, she rushed out, with David offering, ""I'll come with you.""
