Chapter 1725 Don't Want Anything Anymore
"I am not that petty," Julia glared at him. "Anyway, Isadora saved you. I have no objection to you compensating her with two stores. After all, in my eyes, your leg is worth far more than the price of two stores."
"Darling, you're so kind," Elliott couldn't help himself and leaned in to kiss her. "Even my mother said that if she had known it would cost two stores, she wouldn't have saved me. Honestly, I find it annoying now; I'd rather have been injured myself."
Julia chuckled, "True, dealing with people like the Penrose Family, it might have been better if she hadn't saved you. Speaking of which, you should thank me. If it weren't for me, you would have married Isadora and been tied to the Penrose Family, and you probably wouldn't have any peace."
"Yes, thank you," Elliott said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
In hindsight, he realized that his decision to marry Isadora had been too hasty.
Julia smiled and said nothing more.
She was deep in thought; the Penrose Family situation had surprised her and seemed a bit odd.
But she was extremely smart, and after thinking it over, she had a rough idea of what was going on.
"Don't worry about the Penrose Family's threats. It's just reputation, and mine isn't great to begin with," she said nonchalantly after a while.
Elliott's heart tightened; her demeanor made him feel even more protective of her.
At the same time, he resolved never to let her suffer in the Miller family again.
The next day.
Yosef walked out of a diner in a good mood after breakfast, and a Rolls-Royce stopped in front of him.
The window rolled down, revealing a cold and beautiful face. The woman wore sunglasses, her long hair draped over her shoulders, and her lips painted with maple leaf-colored lipstick.
"Mr. Penrose, let's talk," Julia said, removing her sunglasses, her beautiful eyes deep and unreadable.
Yosef, who had seen a lot in his time, felt a chill as if a dangerous animal hidden in the dark was staring at him. He even broke out in a cold sweat.
People said Julia was not to be messed with, but he had only seen her from a distance before and thought she was just a young woman.
Now, meeting her up close, Yosef realized his previous thoughts might have been too naive.
A woman who could control a large group like the Jude Group was never simple.
But greed made him think Julia had come to compromise.
After all, such a project was small for the Jude Group, but could change the entire Penrose Family.
"By all means."
Yosef quickly moved aside. "The breakfast at this diner is good. Would you like to come in and sit?"
"No need, let's talk here."
Julia didn't get out of the car, her eyes cold, "I heard Mr. Penrose wants to be involved in the Jude Group's water and electricity project?"
"Yes," Yosef was overjoyed; she was indeed here for this. "Our company has currently raised two billion dollars. Don't worry, we won't interfere with anything. We'll just invest the money and take our share of the profits after the project is completed. It won't affect you at all."
"It indeed doesn't have much impact." Julia didn't even look up, just playing with her sunglasses. "After the project is completed, participating in such a government-supported project will not only guarantee profits for the Penrose Family but also help you regain your reputation. After all, your investment company has had a bad reputation in recent years, with loans not being repaid and fund losses. Even bank loans have been difficult to secure. This time, being able to invest two billion dollars must mean you've put in all your company's assets."
Seeing her point out so bluntly, Yosef felt slightly embarrassed, "You are indeed well-informed, but it doesn't affect you. As long as our money is in place, that's enough."
"But," Julia paused, her cold eyes falling on him, "I hate being threatened the most."
Yosef froze, forcing a smile, "I wouldn't call it a threat. It's a win-win. After all, Elliott was supposed to marry my daughter."
Julia laughed, "It's quite interesting how you can make extortion sound so refined. Does your daughter know? She only has a broken leg, which will leave a scar, but with advanced medical technology, spending a little over ten thousand dollars can remove the scar completely. But Elliott not only compensated you with stores worth a hundred million dollars, but you still want more. What did Garth say to you?"
The color drained from Yosef's face. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"If it wasn't Garth, then it must be Uriah. Anyway, it was someone from the Tovar family."
Julia said nonchalantly, "Let me guess, the Tovar family must have promised you benefits, asking you to spread the word about your daughter's near engagement to Elliott, creating an image of Elliott as a bad man who ruthlessly dumped your daughter to climb up to someone richer and more powerful like me. This way, Elliott's reputation would be ruined, I would lose my dignity, and the Jude family would do everything to stop him from being with me."
"I really don't understand," Yosef forced a smile.
"You must have changed your mind at the last minute," Julia suddenly said. "You got such big news, and the Tovar family might have promised you benefits, but not as much as you could get by threatening me. So you came to Elliott to threaten me. If it were Garth, he wouldn't have let you do this because the only people who know about my relationship with Elliott are him and a few people in my family. The fact that you got the news clearly shows it was the Tovar family who told you."
Yosef was nervous. People said Julia was extremely smart; he hadn't believed it before, but now he did, and it scared him.
"You are too smart," Yosef said awkwardly. "If I followed the Tovar family's plan, the whole Whisperlyn City would be buzzing, and you might not be able to trace where the rumors came from."
"So I should thank you?" Julia raised an eyebrow playfully.
"We can cooperate," Yosef said ingratiatingly. "I can even help you testify against the Tovar family."
"You might not understand me well enough."
Julia's eyes turned cold. "Say whatever you want; I don't care. But first, consider whether your company can survive this month. The Penrose Family shouldn't think about fleeing the country with the money; I've already made arrangements, and that's impossible."
Yosef started trembling, "What do you mean?"
"The last person who threatened me ended up penniless. Do you understand?" Julia's eyes were cold. "I hate being threatened, and I'm not afraid of threats. Your daughter saving someone is a good deed, but your family keeps milking that favor endlessly. This time it's a project; what will it be next time? The cleanest solution is to end it once and for all. If you regret it, remember to return to the store. If you're not satisfied, then don't take anything."
