Chapter 1623 Did You Miss Me?
Violet hadn't been disrespected like this and was furious on the spot. "Yes, it's your family's business, but Laura is our Goddaughter. Now, please leave our house immediately." As soon as she finished speaking, several attendants behind her immediately dragged Michael out of the Presidential Palace.
Violet ordered, "Remember this, don't let this person into the Presidential Palace again."
Michael was extremely angry. "Violet, don't be so snobbish."
"Snobbish?" Violet was incredibly disappointed.
Fortunately, Michael was quickly taken away.
Laura and Derek were a bit confused, not expecting things to escalate to this level.
Carl was the most embarrassed. "Why are you so angry with a junior?"
"Didn't you hear his sarcasm just now?" Violet said angrily. "I've tolerated him long enough. The things he's done have caused us so much trouble, and we're the ones cleaning up after him. Moreover, his behavior and character are problematic. It's fine if he occasionally plays with Maeve, but long-term interaction is out of the question. Of course, he might have other children in the future, which I can't control, but Maeve grew up by my side. I can't let her be influenced by Michael."
Laura, listening on the side, was very touched. Violet genuinely cared about Maeve.
Carl sighed.
Violet continued, "And don't think I don't know what he's up to. He just realized Megan's true nature and now thinks Laura is better. He wants to get back together with Laura, but does he even deserve her? Any other guy would be better than him. If it weren't for the fact that he's your nephew, I wouldn't have let him into the Presidential Palace at all."
"Alright, alright, don't be angry." Carl coaxed, "Don't let him get to you."
"Yes, Godmother, don't be angry." Laura also coaxed softly, "Michael isn't worth your anger."
"You really know how to comfort people." Violet finally smiled. "Laura, if Michael bothers you again, just tell me, and I'll find someone to teach him a lesson."
After a pause, she urged Carl, "Tell James and his wife to persuade Michael to go abroad as soon as possible."
"I'll call James in a bit," Carl responded quickly, though he wasn't sure about sending Michael abroad.
After breakfast, as Derek and Laura left the dining room, Derek said, "I'll have the driver take Arabella and Maeve to Whispering Pines Manor for the day."
Laura was a bit stunned.
He explained, "You promised Michael before. If you suddenly change your mind, he'll definitely call or come to your office to bother you."
Laura felt extremely annoyed. "It's the first time I've been so annoyed about having a child with Michael, but Maeve is so adorable. Saying this is unfair to her."
"Adult matters shouldn't involve Maeve." Derek's handsome face was very serious. "I'll talk to James later. Maeve can go play there two days a week, and Michael doesn't need to come here. This way, you can avoid seeing him."
Laura felt much more at ease. "Derek, your arrangement is the best. Thank you."
She gave him a sweet smile.
If they weren't in the Presidential Palace, she would have hugged him.
"I'm doing it for myself too." Derek looked at her deeply. "I don't want the person I like to see her ex-husband every day."
Laura chuckled, "Didn't you say I gave you enough security?"
"I do feel secure, but it still bothers me. Most importantly, I don't want you to be unhappy," Derek said gently.
Laura bit her lip, lowered her head, and didn't speak. Her small ears, hidden in her hair, were slightly red.
Seeing this, Derek's eyes deepened. After a moment, he clenched his fist and coughed lightly. "Didn't you say you wanted to borrow my headphones yesterday? They're in my room. I'll get them for you."
Laura didn't react at first until she saw the look in his eyes.
She suddenly understood what he meant and awkwardly agreed.
Originally heading to the parking lot, she turned around and followed Derek into the house.
On the first floor, a servant was mopping the floor and greeted them.
"The headphones are upstairs. Follow me," Derek said, leading her into the bedroom.
As soon as they entered, Derek pressed her against the wall, and his hot kisses fell.
Her heart trembled with fear. She squinted at the bedroom door and relaxed slightly when she saw it was half-closed.
But she wasn't completely relaxed and was still very nervous.
What if the servant suddenly came upstairs?
What if...
"Focus." Derek's low voice mumbled from between their lips.
Laura was on the verge of tears. How could she focus?
Sneaking around made her feel like a thief.
"Sweetie, I missed you." Derek kissed her deeply, cupping her small face. His voice was husky with desire, like an electric current. "Did you miss me?"
"Hurry up," Laura urged nervously.
"I asked if you missed me?" Derek lightly bit her. "If you don't tell the truth, I won't let you go."
"I missed you, I missed you." Laura had to admit defeat, her face flushed. "But not that much. Didn't we just make love yesterday?"
"But didn't you just tell Michael you can't stand being alone?" Derek suddenly laughed mischievously.
Laura was embarrassed. "I was joking."
"I took it seriously."
Derek's tall body pressed against her, and his lips dominantly claimed hers again.
He forced her hands to wrap around his neck.
Laura tilted her head back, trembling from his kisses.
Cassie's words echoed in her mind.
If she and Derek continued like this once or twice, it would be fine, but if it became frequent...
Their relationship wouldn't stay hidden for long.
She thought of Violet's protection this morning. Violet genuinely treated her as a Goddaughter.
If Violet found out Derek was seduced by Laura, would she be disappointed?
Laura felt anxious and uneasy.
At that moment, footsteps suddenly sounded on the stairs.
Her body tensed to the extreme.
Derek didn't stop, but his lips left hers. "These headphones are Bluetooth. Try connecting them."
Laura widened her eyes, admiring his shamelessness. "I can't connect."
"Idiot."
A minute later, as the mopping sound got closer.
Derek finally let her go.
He was neat and tidy, but Laura's clothes were a mess.
Seeing this, Derek helped her straighten up. Laura angrily kicked him.
"Derek, do you need the room mopped?" the servant's voice called out.
"Yes, please mop it," Derek said, then whispered in Laura's ear, "You go down first. I need to use the bathroom."
Laura instantly understood. She gave him a "serves you right" look and turned to leave.
